Ling in its current state isn't fun to deal with from any side of the coin. If it's shit now it's going to stay shit, I am wholly for pruning it from secret. +1(00)

I'd like to say that it is not an IC responsibility to enforce OOC rules. If the rules have been violated or you believe them to have been violated you should adminhelp the action. Fixing it ICly doesn't do anything to correct the breaking of the rules. Having that mentality is not appropriate for a command player.

If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: [Automatically translated to Tau Ceti Basic from Sinta'Azaziba by an automated program and grammar checked by a real human - this service brought to you by Idris Incorporated™] I apologize for issues with grammar. I am not a native speaker of Tau Ceti Basic and had to use a service to translate this for me to ensure it was properly input. Good morning. The incident is as follows: On the morning of the 7th of July 2465 Marco Benardi arose from the lower decks during blue alert and greeted the crew in a non basic tongue. I corrected them on this, instructing them to speak basic on the radio as per i107 Misuse of a Public Radio Channel utilizing a tongue other than basic on the radio is forbidden. This was immediately met with hostility by Bernardi and Mira Tilton, who immediately threatened raising an Incident Report over this, as well as other miscellaneous crew who were emboldened by the words of Officer Tilton. Officer Tilton vehemently argued against the charge publicly, assassinating any trust the crew may have in me and painting the Security department as disjointed. The Captain arose from quarters during the middle of this. After enough back and forth I presented a formal warrant charging Bernardi with i107. During this exchange I requested the Captain levy a special fine on Officer Tilton for their unprofessional and unacceptable conduct, no action was taken. The Captain weighed in saying that per the word of the regulations the charge was justified, which Officer Tilton ignored. Officer Tilton was not going to serve the warrant for obvious reason, Officers Takano and Kondratenko were literally useless and too focused on playing games on the computer to serve the warrant, and Officer Lorenzo was busy at the time. As a result of that I moved to serve the warrant. I moved to the Bar, where I suspected the Off Duty Crewman to be, and found them there. Officer Tilton followed me there and attempted to stop me from serving the Warrant verbally. They were very unprofessional. The Captain was also there, and Officer Tilton attempted to get them on their side. The Captain ignored them for the most part as they had higher priority duties to attend to. I believe I also attempted to speak with the Captain, asking them to deal with Officer Tilton. At around this point Bridge Crew Tau'ha'nor was volunteered or voluntold to act as the Captain's intermediary for handling this issue. They repeatedly told others to come to them with written statements of the issue that was had with my conduct. To my knowledge this was collectively ignored, as Tilton had made expressly clear they were seeking to file a report with Human Resources over me enforcing Corporate Regulations. Throughout the entire exchange Officer Tilton insulted me knowingly. They called me by my first name during the initial radio exchange prior to the charging, in an attempt to get me to become violent. I believe their motivations were near purely xenophobic. I have received much training on these things from previous actions taken against me and their prior argument was that one or two words does not matter. I could not tell what was one or two words as I do not speak any human tongue that is not basic. I will admit I became quite angry during this and attacked Tilton's professionalism and competence multiple times. That was a mistake on my part. I did not do so on a common radio net once. I am not a strong writer. To summarize what I take issue with it is that Tilton ignored the Captain, argued with me publicly, and just aired Security's dirty laundry for the entire crew to hear. They did not use any discretion and they were openly Xenophobic to myself. Many crew were angry with my decision. They were unhappy that I was enforcing the rules as painted in Corporate Regulations, and me out to be an evil power abuser when the only reason I levied the charge in the first place was because Bernardi argued back. Tilton infuriating me did not aid in this. I also find it hard to see why me enforcing Corporate Regulations as written is power abuse, and can provide a full shift manifest if required for the purpose of corrective training like what I have received in the past. Both investigators were involved with something throughout the entirety of this however they were listening in on the radio I believe. Officer Tilton was completely unaware that there was anything going on other than charge I was levying. Submitted Evidence: See attachment Would you like to be personally interviewed?: [x] - Yes [ ] - No Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: Yes, Captain Maribelle Leah-Magnum Actions taken: None (They were preoccupied with higher priority duties and the shift change set) Additional Notes: I am requesting my interview to be conducted in either Sinta'Unathi or Sinta'Azaziba.

Exaggeration. I don't think rng knockdown makes for very fun fights against simple mobs. -

Another solution would be to not have the baseball sized robots splatter gallons of oil around when they die. -

I hate hivebots. +1 -
A preferable solution is to remove technomancer from secret. Neither game mode is fun.

Everything moves slow as shit and the rounds only two hours long so you can spend more than a quarter of that looking for something, or if you're in a small vessel less but have no fuel left.

Right so after dying to a reaver I now have the power of salt to compel me to complain further. The asteroid should not have anything that will guarantee your death from a single hit just randomly roaming. If I get an arterial I am dead. There is no stopping that. This gives a disproportionate amount of power to IPCs and stuff. If we want to balance Mining either make it so they can't just one hit any non synthetic miner or give them an ion gun effect so IPCs can experience the same amount of fun as the miners who can bleed. In other thoughts, Mining rewards are low and grindy. This was fine when mining on the Aurora because RTB was quick and easy, but with the Horizon going to the asteroid can be a ten or fifteen minute trip and if the horizon doesn't follow you you might have to make that trip right on back. This means that you'll get a palsely reward for mining and be well and removed from the events of the round for the majority of the shift just to get a decent haul. The amount of rocks provided should be buffed, just to give miners any incentive to visit the asteroid at all. Since ICly we're here for phoron, and the rocks verifiably don't have phoron, there's not even a real incentive to actually Mine and not just derelict hunt anyways. Also since we can only feasibly make single trips a lot of the time the Mining Vendor with the point buy system? Worthless. Just remove it and give me the teleport stuff for my ore box and my mining satchel, I literally don't need anything else from there unless I'm trying to crack the sky with drills.

ClemTheDuck Command app
restricted replied to ClemTheDuck's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Clem plays good characters and is knowledgeable of the game. They'd fit into command well. +1 -
The default KA works fine for xenofauna honestly, it's just the lethality of a bleed which you cannot tend without making a near full RTB that really hampers non IPC miner's performance.
-
So mining seems to have a problem right now. It is generally extremely lethal to anything, particularly non IPCs. The bloaters can hit you once and you're fucked, a reaver comes along and your day's over, let alone the eels. It is extremely dangerous with extremely little reward, and you can only really safely perform Mining as an IPC. If a carp bites you as a non IPC guess what you're bleeding, gotta trek ALL the way back to your shuttle or else you might get brain damage and die. Even as an IPC, the damage will add up over time. This also applies to the derelicts, varying depending on how bad they are: some aren't too hostile, others have basically no loot or lore importance but are occupied by an entire shoal of Carp. I'm mostly making this to see if anyone has any ideas for making Mining better or less hostile. It used to be a great place for new players to learn how to EVA and basic robustness, but now it's basically the most inhospitable job on or off the ship.

Karl's player here. He suggested mutiny because under his understanding Zulu had watched the Reporter, who at this point had been brigged and set free at least three times (all of which while 32 was active) be set free by the janitor bot. Karl suggested it because he was tired of bullshit, it was allowed under aiding and abetting, and most importantly after a chaotic round where near every single antag had to be viciously murdered, two security officers were lost, and he felt his own life at danger multiple, he was just done being nice. There's a point where corporate regulations get fuzzy. That entire round was fuzzy and 32 decided to be a piece of shit to Abbasi during it. If I can go on a tangent however of what I have seen of 32 the character tends to ignore security or authority figures and attempt to achieve its own goals. The character does not tend to work with the department and this sort of action is perfectly in character for them.

So adding smoking lounges and making the entire ship a no smoking zone otherwise wouldn't change anything? Or are you saying they should be entitled to take these breaks anywhere they please?
-
Out of curiosity what roleplay is created, if any, by letting people just smoke anywhere unless otherwise marked? I react to it with my characters, as they very much do mind the smell, but I don't think those are good nor meaningful interactions.
-
Cigs are more than aesthetic. They are expensive, unhealthy, and most importantly smokers smell bad. Actions have consequences and smoking has pretty clear cut ones on that. Unilaterally allowing smoking as opposed to designating specified areas is a little confusing. Secondhand smoke is annoying to deal with as a smoker or a non smoker, and getting involuntarily hotboxed is even worse. To add to this I rarely see smoking actually played out how it goes. I don't ever see people stress smoking, or using it as an excuse to take a break at work. Rather it's just used a passive aesthetic piece which doesn't add much to them, and is pretty counter to the entire smoke break culture of things. Tjough I do see a few people congregating outside the brig as I kick them out of the brig as my warden if they want to smoke.
-
Smoking should be an oddity even with the timeline diverge in the 60s. It has almost nothing good going for it aside from the aesthetic of being someone who smells bad.
