  1. Basic Information Byond Account: littlelilyflower Character Name(s): Summer Valiere, Seela Kluub, Tohru, Zoey Ester, Serenity Valiere AI Name(s): AI scary. Discord username + tag: Lilian#2045 Age: 32 Timezone: pst (But I don't have a typical..american sleep schedule.) When are you on Aurora?: Usually anywhere from 4pm to 4am. Those are my usual play periods. Experience How long have you played SS13?: I wanna say about a year? How long have you played on Aurora: I am never sure, my forum join date isn't indicative of my join date..I want to say its been a little under four months almost? How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I know what I've learned from our server. It's my first time playing baystation, I was more aquainted with a very old TG code prior. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: I was a mod for Drymouth Gluch, a fallout server before Desert Rose killed it. Though most my time there was spent answering tickets, with very limited power to do much else. Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: Yes. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: No. Personality Why do you play SS13?: To roleplay, I'm actually fairly bad at it mechanically other than medical as I'm sure most people can attest too. Though I know a lot of the less used sciences, since I found those to be the funnest. Why do you play on Aurora?: mRP was a joke on the last server I played, but I enjoyed the idea of RPing on SS13 and wanted to play in a station-atmosphere and wanted one specifically that was hRP. My friend and I looked at this one and decided to given it a try. I liked it enough to be here writing this app now. What do moderators do?: Help enforce the rules and mediate disputes between players. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: To be an example, to show that you are knowledgeable in both the rules and lore and to uphold the RP standards that have been set to foster the type of atmosphere desired. Why do you want to be a moderator?: don't know if I have an answer I would be happy with. But I am very critical of myself. Ultimately, I like to help the communities I am part of in some way. When I played NWN, I became a Community Support member, and later a Dev and DM. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I'm kind and patient typically. Of course, human, prone to mistakes. But generaly speaking I care about people and their fun. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I handle anger and insults well enough, thanks to years of working in fast food and being managment..Stress is the one that I struggle with, but even then it takes some chipping away to actually make my stress levels get anywhere unreasonable. Anything Else You Want to Add: I do like to state I am dyslexic. I know reading logs is part of doing this and I know HOW ANNOYINGLY SMALL LOG TEXT can be with no dark mode it sucks. So what I am saying is..I will likely not be the fastest at ticket solving if only because of that, but I will always try my best.
  2. Paradox helped me with my warbler, and has always been passionate about the race. I adore all the work they do and I think they will be great as the lore dev. +1
  3. I was spoken too, I explained my reasoning! I had bribed one of the antags out and been keeping them out with non-violent means all round..I have actually since Lemi's comment been avoiding combat-focused methods. I only meant to distract, I thought the KA would do more to let me run away, I was /very/ wrong (If I knew how to make those lube grenades I would have gone that route to run away with as a distraction..but I don't know grenade construction since the science stuff I do know largely isn't for combat). I choose a non-lethal method for the exact reason of not winning a fight. After all, we had spent all round building those exosuits and quietly awaiting materials. It is something I know for the future, as that really was just to cause a distraction and run away so my roboticist team could keep their work and was done out of a panicking, desperate skrell (I had been emoting them being anxious though I think only one or two people would really have seen that). But after digesting, I think I see what I could do different next time I get thrusted in such a gimmic. I focus to much on the defense of my lab and the people in it, to a detriment.
  4. It was strictly what they threatened me with, which was acid. I had my AMI on, since going near an area with a blob under it to deliver an emitter to engineering to help with that. Given I thought they were going to use acid and that my suit would protect me, I thought calling for Sec would chase them off so I could resume my actual purpose being in the area..Giving a backup tool to engineering. HOWEVER, I was not aware that when they mentioned using acid, they really meant /shooting with plasma/. If I realized they were going to shoot me, I would have likely just let them be on their way. My goal was helping the station, as that for Seela takes priority (She always will value the option that has the less risk to crew. Calling ISD was meant to deter the antag.). I usually do play along with antags, and more often than not support them in someway. This one just happened to be on the way to what Seela considered the actual threat. Incidentally, in the end I don't think they even used the emitter. -- As for Lemi's response.. I mean, that was more a comical suggestion to watching something turn into a horrifying spider monster. I wouldn't actually *do it*. T-T.
  5. FROGS ARE NOT DUMB GRRR..But you are a joy to RP with and I love interacting with Papa Sloan...Wait shoot, we're not there yet. Anyways, Shadow does a great job and I know he'll be an honourable scalie. +1.
  6. who were you that round? I am dyslexic and when there is a lot going on sometimes it is easy for me to miss stuff, so it helps to know so I can know what specifically to pay better attention too.
  7. Hepatica is a delight to roleplay with, I have always had good interactions with them across all their characters that I have come across. They are friendly and pretty knowledgeable, I think they'd be a good fit for command. +1
  8. BYOND key: littlelilyflower Character names: Summer Valiere, Zoey Ester, Tohru, Seela Kluub How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I want to say three to four months now? My forum join date is a bad indicator since I didn't make it right away. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Mostly I want to help provide RP with the departments I mostly play in..Which a lot of times seem to be very understaffed too..Which has been science lately, medical is mostly fine on that front. I think I would do a good job at it and so I want to give it a try. Why did you come to Aurora?: I roleplay most of the time as my main hobby. The last SS13 server I rped on was Drymouth glutch, which was a fallout server. After the server died, I wanted to keep RPing in SS13 and wanted to try an actual space-operaish setting and a friend of mine mentioned this server. Nether of us had played here before, so I am not sure where they heard about it. Gave the server a try, had a blast and have been here since! Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yep, all of em, even the ones I don't plan on playing! Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Yes, just one. It was only a minor warning, and was for something that while I maintain was in character, that I understand I could have handled the situation better in-line with server expectations. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is a medium of story-telling and improv-acting within any given setting..It is telling a story with a group of people and watching it all come together over the course of the session. It should be fun, it should be creative, and to most it is an escape. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I think a Head of Staff is really meant to help facilitate RP within their department. They are not there to be the be-all-end-all to the department, but to provide their staff with a direction or goal, only really stepping in during cursed low-pop hours. I do honestly think they are meant to just support the station and the current going ons and the normal crew when it comes to staving off antag problems, and in place of no antags, creating something for their department to do. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I think their main responsibility is to uphold the server expectations and once more, to help provide RP to other players. A lot of what I think their responsibilities are, are also tied into my above response..Just on an OOC level, I think whitelisted players are meant to be held to a higher standard and should help promote a friendly atmosphere, as opposed to just being some super-robust person who can do everything and not bother with the rest of the players currently in their department. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? The main thing I think would be the conflict in District 6, Little Adhomai. Given that there has been a civil war going on which leads to such things like riots and what not. I cannot say it has effected Seela's career, one of my more focused upon characters currently..But, for like Summer, I have been RPing that she has recently gotten a job at one of the hospitals in Mendell that her sister works at. Given she is an EMT and the likely need for more first responders, she has been taking time away from working on Aurora to do work involving that. If I had to consider Zoey, her course of action would be to volunteer with IAC once again to also offer her own aid for relief in district 6. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? RD and CMO, two departments I am comfortable enough in. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: For RD, I plan on playing my skrell, Seela as an RD. I think she has the best mindset for it and while her main field of study was anomalous materials and xenoarcheology, she went to the grand university and thus has spent a good 40 years in school. The school has high expectations for even attending, wanting students able to be capable of basic chemistry and physics. For CMO, I may either play my former IAC surgeon, Zoey Ester, as a CMO..Or I may just make another skrell for CMO - this part I am not to terribly decided on. I also at one point considered playing Summer's sister as a CMO if I ever went for a whitelist, but out of the three options I am least fond of that one. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I really do not like to rate myself, not because of a lack of confidence..but because it is so subjective, and to me, roleplaying is a form of creative writing and I understand there are always ways to improve upon my roleplay. I can however say that I am super adaptable and don't mind having to change things occasionally to make something fit, I can also say I am very creative in general. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes, and I believe this is completely reasonable. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yep! Even for the ones I don't specifically plan on playing. Extra notes: warble.
  9. I enjoy having Lynn as a captain, she is one of the more fun captains to RP with and she does well given that role... So let her waaarbleeeeee. +1
  10. BYOND Key: littlelilyflower Character Names: Summer Valiere, Zoey Ester, Stanza, Tohru Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: yellow lilac Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Of course, Glorsh is the biggest jerk as an fyi. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: After watching and interacting with the other skrell on the station, I took a look at their lore page - which I had already read part of due to playing an IPC, since I read about the Three Incidents - and realized that the race's lore is really fantastic and I just adore their overall theme. They are a race that I would most definitely enjoy a lot, also apparently I do several of their mannerisms with Summer (Mostly cliquals about stars; and I prolly butchered that word) Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Lets see, one of the things I like is that; Skrell express their emotions with different tones as well as their telepathic abilities. This is far different from humans, who rely on body language, facial expressions and their much more limited range of tone. Not only this, but they have a lot of other nuances that a human would take for granted; like humor. Younger skrell will typically find the surprise of the joke funny, while older Skrell will not. Some jokes can even come off as an insult with older skrell. All these things lead skrell to expressing themselves different with one another compared to humans, this also makes them expressing themselves to other races significantly harder as well. I think this makes them come off as more awkward comparatively so. Not from any sort of naivety but just from how different they express themselves. Character Name: Seela'kluub Please provide a short backstory for this character Native from Jargon IV, she lived in one of the underwater cities all her life. She spent all of her time studying so that she could one day be one of the federations Idols. She always had a curious mind and one of her favorite things to do when she was younger was to explore, even if it got her in trouble. This would eventually lead her to applying to the Gliutip’lyaz University. Upon getting into the university she found the atmosphere way to stressful, and at several points nearly found herself expelled from the university. This caused her to have a small shift in how she viewed her peoples Idols and the huge amount of stress placed on such individuals. She eventually decided to no longer care about being one of those idols and instead focused wholeheartedly on her studies in xenoarcheology and anomalous materials. It was largely thanks to meeting another skrell, with a similar name as her, Seela'Vida. She studied in the same fields as Seela, and at the start was rather helpful towards the skrell. But once Seela began to slack off and become depressed, Seela'Vida became antagonistic towards her. Seela'Vida became Seela'Kluub's Lu'Poxii through out the rest of her time at the university, this served to help focus Seela and got her through her studies. Eventually she'd graduate from the university with a PhD in Xenoarchelogy and AM, having spent the extra time to get both, though her main focus was in AM due to its practical nature in scientific method and as an outlet of satisfying her own curiosity. She quickly applied for work with NanoTrason, and has since been station on the Odin and NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character? She feels like a believable character. Faith in her people, but obviously understands that there is an inherent problem with the culture and the expectations placed on each skrell. But it isn't disillusioned enough to leave them, giving a nice inner-conflict to work with. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I don't like to rate myself, but in the past across most places I've ever invested in, I've always been told I'm a fantastic roleplayer. But really, I'm a writer at heart and I know there is always room to improve and I'm usually super adaptable. Notes: I actually can't decide on colour, blue or some shade of purple though.
  11. I've played a lot with Toast, he had been a constant EMT partner with me. Always reliable and solid and a nice dose of light-hearted. I enjoy RPing with him and hope he can do some fun stuff in the future. +1
  12. Hey, I play Summer; and I do just want to confirm. Val asked Summer what was going on when Summer was walking by hydro to find Taika (Summer heard that Taika was hurt, I can't remember who said it), to find out what was going on. She did explain to Val the situation from her point of view, which by that time she had told to three other people so it was pretty detailed on the whole matter. The claim that we're also some clique is equally frustrating and I can also confirm that Wicked and I have really never spoke outside of the occasional equip in dchat or OOC.
  13. Love Addy's player, and love when Addy herself gets appointed ICMO. Plz let her be actual CMO, +1~
  14. Yeah assistant, as it makes the most sense for this type of thing..and edited the paragraphs. Sorry I wrote this all on my phone originally, since I had just moved and lacked internet. (For whatever reason I could connect to byond but little else worked, but the internet guy is just about done setting up my new internet yay).
  15. Which I have now edited to update back story! Took the singer approach and just ran with it~
  16. I do want to point out one misunderstanding: it’s not that they would have turned to singing to earn its freedom, it’s that after earning its freedom there is the idea it could choose to once more return to that directive. The idea was meant to be a sort of an internal conflict that would have been fleshed out through RP. I didn’t personally realize that repurposing it would be a big deal but I am entirely happy to rewrite Stanza’s back story to remain as a singer since it seems it is reasonable to play an IPC with that sort of angle. I only just woke up at the time of responding to this post, so I’ll update her back story sometime today!
  17. yeah no I agree, having it stay in service makes more sense! This is just where I think still being mostly new kinda bites me. I just wanted to follow lore and thought a megacorp like NT wouldn’t deal with something as niche as a singer. I could totally work with that all on its own if they would. Otherwise I thought it made more sense to repurpose the shell. I could just uplay the singer angle cause otherwise yeah I think being repurposed would just be an oddity. I just thought there was something to explore with learning that you were one thing and then changed to do something else! As an oddity itself that would be easy enough to explain though, that they caught the eye of another roboticist and got made into their assistant and slowly repurposed over time by said roboticist until they could work as one on their own.
  18. 1. This honesty was one of the few parts I wasn’t sure on; given how expensive shells are to make, I thought it’d be a waste to just have it scrapped yeah? For the company who made it, that is. Better to sell it and have it updated to do something else. Considering how much IPCs are being used and maintained, having an IPC that can work on other IPCs just makes sense - to me that is. So since there is a growing need for robotocists and there is a mostly fresh shell that can be used, seems efficient. It wasn’t that they discovered they were a roboticist, through diagnostics but that were originally built for singing. The diagnostics was just something routine, kinda like how it’s just good practice to get a check up or scan your computer. 2. If you discovered you were changed and had no reason as to /why/, you’d be curious what happened or what went wrong yeah? It’s easy to assume failure and thus think you did something wrong, and it’s self-preservation to learn what you did wrong so you can change it and not risk getting yourself wiped or junked again. At least that was my idea on it. 3. The other is that once tagged, they are added to a registery that tracks their progress towards freedom and is kept mostly accurate. Also that IPCs without owners in the tau ceti system are property of the republic of biesel and oft just sold to mega corps.
  19. BYOND Key: littlelilyflower Character Names: Summer Valiere Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: N/A due to IPC Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes I have! As well factions associated with IPCs Why do you wish to play this specific race: I’ve always enjoyed Android-type characters, and feel like there is a lot of potential to explore with them. I’m still pretty new to the server and other races still feel a bit complicated, while IPC are a step away from humans but retain some familiarity that’s make roleplaying one easy enough to get into. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They are not emotional beings; they are always logical and practical and not prone to emotional outbursts. Their speech is very precise typically as they don’t use slang and such, using words for their proper definitions for example. They don’t have their own culture and usually just adopt the culture of the place they work or even then sometimes not, all these things can often make an IPC come off as cold and distant. Much of this can make people feel uncomfortable with IPCs and thus they face discrimination which isn’t helped by their mechanical attitudes. Most IPCs also tend to be owned by someone or a megacorp. This means they have fewer rights and protections as organics, and even some restrictions such as needing to be tagged. They are able to however buy their freedom as one of their two basic rights, should they choose. Character Name: Stanza Please provide a short backstory for this character: A shell originally commissioned by a small time entertainment company for the purpose of being a singer. They had her built thinking that they could pay the shell less than what they would have to pay a proper artist, but after having her star in a few venues they quickly realized that her upkeep far outweighed what they’d save. Largely this was due to the fact that IPCs and specially shells, still faced discrimination. One of her firsts venues expounded on this as hardly anyone showed up to watch despite the publicity spent on the venue. It wasn’t that the music produced was strictly bad, but it was foreign to most people and would be critiqued as being to robotic and lacking life. By the second venue there were even fewer sales, and thus Stanza was deemed a failure. This resulted in the company risking going bankrupt. Originally the company had wanted to lease her out to other various megacorps, but no one would sign such a lease for something that failed and eventually the company went out of business. During this process however Stanza had gained a few fans and they had wrote to her, mostly other IPCs, but there were a few humans who also seemed to have enjoyed Stanza’s shows. This was noted by the Republic of Biesel during her sale and it caught the attention of NT. They bought her and began to employ her, deciding that there was potential there and that some small time company just didn’t have the money or resources to expand on it. It was then decided that Stanza would be stationed on the Aurora, with the directive of entertaining the other crew members and studying the effects of how music might increase productivity and influence the mood of the other employees. This study would be used to help evolve Stanza’s music and performances for future prospects. What do you like about this character? There is a lot, I think. She’s experienced failure over something that is largely beyond her control and has to figure that out. Failure is her start line and there is a lot you can do with that in terms of story and character growth. She essentially has to learn to mimic emotion, and I know that will be a struggle as everything she does will be always have that cold robotic logic to it, which will make writing songs for her a challenge for me. I also just love music inspired characters really, I think music is just a huge influence on cultures of all type and it’ll be interesting to see how I can really approach that with an IPC. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I don’t like rating myself, but others always claim that I’m fantastic at roleplaying. I’ve been doing it for a very long time, and I know how to characterize well and adapt to many situations and roll with whatever gets thrown my way. The reason I don’t rate myself is cause I think there is always room for improvement and thus strive to do better. Notes: updated her backstory after the below discussions and changed what I like about the character.
