Tajaran gender isn't really separated by social conformity or anything. Females can attain the same ranks and positions as men. Like you said, everything on Adhomai is moreso determined by your genes. The story behind this is the reason for all the homophobia. When the nobles were in control, everyone was bred to keep bloodlines pure and a lot of it was done against the will of the ones being bred. Two Tajara of different social castes could never breed. Many were traded and shipped away when their forbidden love for one another got discovered. It was complete natural law. When the peasants won at the end of the civil war interbreeding became legal (this kind of was to help explain the spike in halfbreeds because suddenly it was legal) and a whole lot of free-spirited lewd happened. Or so we thought. Instead of making the leap from complete natural law to the deepest depths of depravity, the Hadii family, who are NOBLES, decided that it would be best to take this slow. If you had a wife who got shipped away because she wasn't an M'sai like you, you now have a right to find and marry her regardless if she's Zhan, or even Njarir (But who would want to fuck one of those scum)! But further than that was still prohibited; people were still really hesitant. It was not an easy leap and their dick scorpions were not comfy with such rapid change. Homosexuality was one of those things that was still way out of the spectrum of possibilities. Then a bunch of female cats showed up on a human ship, took one look at lesbay, and said "hey, we should all make out! And leave Adhomai furever! And use birth control! And pounce on eachother!!!!" And the Hadii went "whAT NO" in full on tumblr caps from his throne. And from there the merciful Al'Mari Hadii realized Adhomai had no culture. All of it was lost in the war, and what remained was traumatic. Hateful spite against the nobles, a bunch of sex against your will, a god that's nice and a god that literally embodies all evil and wants to eat your soul, and a fuckton of war. So, he made a culture for the Tajaran race. And he swore, (becoming the enemy he hated) to kill if it meant preserving his idea of the culture. Then he died and his brother Malik declared war on the degenerates while taking these policies to 100 real quick. As a final note, love on Adhomai is precious. But sex is a different picture for them. It carries a lot of weight emotionally because of all the trauma in regards to history of forced breeding, birth control is extremely difficult, and there are no ways of preventing STDs. Sex is 2spooky to the average Taj, and homosexuality is just kind of really weird to conservative Taj on Adhomai because if you aren't making a baby then wtf??? Hope you enjoyed reading a paragraph about gay furry sex as much as I fucking hated typing it.

What really sucks is when I have to make a bait post in order to lure people into giving criticism when the other threads I've tried haven't worked. The problem with lore work is that you really always want criticism for your work but a lot of the time it comes out weird or doesn't come out at all. The concerns of the player demographic never get voiced and instead get snarled around in circles in a Skype or discord group. In order to hear about anything these days, like the group of players who thought they'd get their Whitelists removed for some reason, I need to goad poor guys into being honest and confronting me. If I hadn't have made this obvious bait thread I wouldn't have been able to do my best to relieve Sierra of the worry that he'll lose his cat the second he arrives on station. Now that mofo has actually derived meaning to this thread, check the OP and read it. Nothing really got said in there besides "this is weird but I am not going to punish it at all". The original post was a whole bunch of nothing I typed at 4am so that people would finally get talking. Don't worry. Qwagging is merely immature. It's not something you'll get in trouble for in a million years. Same with being as obnoxious as humanly possible. So sit back and don't worry. Your cat is safe. Unless you make a really big scene consistently for some hugely illegal stuff or for ranting about eating pussy over comms over and over. Hi I'm working out the lore canonization applications, not sure where a lot of this stuff can go but I'm trying my best. All of my work is really disorganized right now so wish me luck in trying to find a way to add a whole new category to the wiki about Tajaran faction militaries and stuff Complicated stuff and hard to explain, I NEED MORE TIME TO THINK

You see the silhouette of figure suddenly appear in the feed. He sits in a chair flanked on both sides by two standing figures. All three wear assorted face masks from military balaclavas to shemagh face masks. The sitting shadow's voice is hoarse and distorted a few pitches lower, but unmistakably Tajaran. The shadow visibly leans forward, growling. He seemingly leans back again, his tone calming. The figure lifts a lighter to his muzzle, flicking it on with one motion as he lights a cigar in between his teeth. The orange glow from the lighter barely reveals a hint of M'sai fur before the lighter flicks off instantly, shrouding the male's face in darkness once more.

Well, you don't have to change them or stop playing them. Just tone it down, or if you think it's toned down enough, play them freely. And go hog wild when you're not on comms or in the middle of 20 people. I see no problems with these characters. Fighting humans in retaliation is something I tolerate these days. But to be honest I've seen a surprising amount of open Taj racism against humans as opposed to humans against cats. Yes, there's the occasional burn the catbeast and all ICly, but that's about it. The backstory of Adhomai has always been grimdark. It's a snowy, hellish world that's been locked in civil war for almost its entire (recorded) history. This race has ALWAYS been a race of unending war and genocidal tendencies. I've just made the government more overstepping and strangleholdish to portray that realistically. What I don't see is Tajaran characters reacting to the strengthened policies on Adhomai by changing their behavior in public or acting somewhat angry at the Republic. What I see is players simply refusing to play their nerd cat girls because other cats who are fresh out of a war zone find it disgusting to see someone so self-absorbed. If everyone enjoyed it, why don't you keep playing it? You do realize you're one of the better taj players, right? Rasine can be whatever she wants in private, I don't care so long as it doesn't become a scene. That's the point - keep your weird stuff to yourself and whoever else you really want to know. The only cats that ever get yelled at for being promiscuous are the ones I always hear about spouting over comms and boasting about their sexual endeavors on the escape shuttle. I don't find logs. Regular taj players see something that disgusts them and they send it to me. owo what's this??

Well then you're missing out on some hilarious logs from just last night. Tajara are free to be whatever they want in private. It's the doing disgusting shit in public and over comms that puts them in danger. It's not because we're coming up with our own fluff and going 'screw lore I'll play what I want'. No. It's because the Tajaran species has been stuffed into a teeny-tiny, strained little box of rules and regulations with no room for our characters to grow or interact. Lore is supposed to be expanded on, built up, not downsized and marginalized. Not only that, but a lot of Tajaran characters were developed much earlier before current Lore, and those characters are based off that early lore. Lore is literally being forced upon these already-constructed characters. It's being shoved down our throats in a, 'do it or else' threat. These characters are being stifled and slowly killed. The Tajaran race literally has the loosest character design net of the Whitelists besides the IPCs. Can you really tell me that Tajara have less personality diversity than Diona? What about Skrell? The Tajara have SO MUCH room. You shouldn't feel threatened in the slightest, anyways. I just think hyperactive cats are just that - hyperactive. They won't get killed for it, by God, it's just that if you play a hyperactive character be ready to get called autistic by another cat. I think you can remember what the other cats had to say when you were singing over the radio. Same thing in person. Well why are they afraid? I've never stripped a whitelist. None of the things I've stated above are things that I'd remove a whitelist over. I just want Taj players to work towards a common goal of setting a flavor for the race (that agrees with your idea below) instead of being overly cliquey humans in cat form. What I really see are players who use their whitelist for very little more than relationship/erotic RP. I want people to feel beaten because of racism and threatened because of the loss of culture. But what does singing over comms add to that narrative? I disagree. Again, what the heck do you got against furries? Many of them feel like they have no business in the below narrative, and instead ignore it entirely to romance. Yep. That's very charming, because I completely agree and I've been trying to convey that in the race for so long. I was fine with it. Then the week after an Unathi joined the ship and a Tajara said "Ew, go home stupid unathi". Two different examples. Two different reactions from me. Already explained this is moot, claw them if they're being absolute assholes, but don't be racist towards humans (to their faces), but additionally I might add that the Tajara were designed from the start of bay to be cheap servants who didn't question orders or the humans openly. I agree. However, many people believe the lore right now is TOO expansive. I kind of have to agree considering the race has the largest white listed race net, and uses IC punishment after extensive EXTENSIVE lore breaking so that no one loses a whitelist ever. This was already a thing when I got forced to take the Taj race. I merely enforce it as law now. Cats can be homo as fuck in the privacy of wherever. It's only "SHE LOVES EATIG PUSSY" on general comms and the like that will catch my attention, and the many eyes of the Hadii. Again, not my choice to dislike the Zhan. It was already a thing when I got pushed onto the platter. None of my characters are racist against Zhan despite them obviously being dirty fucking criminals (just look at engineering some time). It's really not. No one has lost a single character yet. No one should feel afraid unless their character is literally just that bad. Myth three was going to be me explaining that you can be whatever you want in private as a Taj, but I forgot because it was like 4am and I was half dreaming. It's spouting shit over comms or in public that's really dirty or lore breaking that gets you in trouble. I just can't agree with you on the broken up part. Sorry if you feel that way. There's a ton of wiggle room still - take a look at the other alien races lmao these guys are all one personality type - and you should only feel asphyxiated in that Karima's culture is being chipped away more and more every day, comrade.

Hi I'm Hivefleetchicken, and regretfully I'm in control of the Tajaran race, a race that I despise almost as much as the Diona. I would glass Adhomai if I could. But fortunately for the Taj players, I'm not here to doom the race, I'm here to try my best to save it! That involves me making the race something that can be taken seriously like the other races, and the Taj playerbase is famously not very cooperative with that goal. In my time as loremaster I've done a lot of work in trying to set up a uniform method of playing the Taj like the other races have, but a lot of people seem to disagree with it, and come up with their own fluff seemingly out of nowhere. So I'm gonna' go through this thread and explain why a lot of the Taj people see these days just don't work or conflict with the lore. I have no format set up for this thread so warning, it's gonna' be really messy and sloppy. Good luck reading through everything without going cross-eyed. Myth 1: There is no set personality for the Tajaran race/Tajara are as diverse as humans. Myth 2: Hyperactive cats are normal and to be tolerated.
