I argued as long as I found it funny. I stopped when I didn't think it was funny anymore. And I wouldn't call it 'aggressive' - diphead isn't an insult, despite what low-tier Urban Dictionary definition some bricklaying rat faced goon could pull from his bag of tricks.

I am the sort of man who would play this character 100% seriously.
-
Well, then change it. You're the head developer, aren't you?

I'm not mad at anyone, JladNumbers. That said: Gollee isn't assuming this is a joke. He's assuming he knows who I am as a person after one thread he disliked. And that's the real joke.

Science fantasy is, in a single word, fucking lame. Okay, two words, but who cares I don't really have too strong feelings about the opinion other than that, though. I'll put it this way.. Star Wars is science fantasy. Nothing is ever explained, not even using technobabble. You're just supposed to (and you do!) accept that blasters are blasters, lightsabers are lightsabers and that there are goblin wizards and samurai robot dads. Star Trek is science fiction. I'll leave it at that. 99% of all chem names in SS13 (at least if you're not playing on Goonstation or Hippie) are directly copied from Star Trek. Floppy disks are used for data storage and you're meant to accept it because they're called 'datadisks' (I bet some gormless shack builder will try and change this, though, like how computer consoles and PDAs were needlessly changed). Basically, SS13 is/was a stealthy parody of 70s-80s sci-fi where one gigabyte of data was cutting edge. No amount of gross cat monsters from outer space or cantina bands can change that.

gutter is ooga booga speak. everyone i have talked to about it agrees that it is racist ooga booga speak. change it to this. /datum/language/gutter name = "Gutter" desc = "A crude pidgin of several Slavic languages and Cantonese that serves as Tradeband for criminal elements." speech_verb = "growls" colour = "rough" key = "3" syllables = list ("slo","nik","ko","zels","het","zlo","nis","iv","da","ati","yib","ban","dup","sha","ansh","nou","nec","zby", "ci") Does it make sense? Probably not. Far better than ooga booga looga, though, I think.

Very glad my good friend Chaznoodles could ask some real questions. In all honesty, I wouldn't see myself as 'building' IPC lore so much as 'expanding'. As it stands, what Jackfractal has left us with is great for Aurora - it's not restricting but is enough of a framework that it's not too open. In short, I'd try and work with the players to expand upon what Jack left in a way that pleases everyone. Not really sure what you mean by question #2. I don't have much in mind right now and I imagine that what I do isn't major enough to require much thinking as to how I'm going to work it into the current lore. Yes, without a doubt. Not all civilizations or species are equal in the Aurora universe and I believe it should stay that way. A galaxy of races that are fully equal (with some better than others in certain ways) is incredibly boring.

Petty insults whilst I negated their dubious claims of dipheadery, my good man. Dare you stand against the memelord mafia? Also, you have quite literally nothing to prove that I wouldn't work well under supervision or when given criticism. The mod app was a joke, in case me calling literally everyone a diphead and saying I lacked any positive qualities didn't tip you off.

Ckey/BYOND Username: You know it, baby. BotanistPower. Position Being Applied For (coder, mapper, spriter): Check that title. Past Experiences/Knowledge: Not much but I've been doing this roleplay shit for about 5 years. I also really like robots and will be sure to take IPCs in an interesting direction. Examples of Past Work: I wrote half of the Lifeweb wiki in English, if that matters. I also sent Hivefleetchicken (current head of frontier lore, I am told) 4 colony ideas. He liked them. Ask him for them because I don't have those on hand. Preferred Mode of Communication (Skype, Steam, etc.): Steam's cool. Additional Comments: I might be the first person to apply for this.

Self-testing was never allowed without having signed a form.

aurora's setting is not even remotely grimdark, people who say it is probably just want to play 2d pixel star wars with tajaran

you put waaaaay too many words to suggesting an anti-incident reports subforum oh and this idea sucks, people shouldn't be awarded for not being shit

Pardon me, I distinctly remember you doing the above about 50000 times. Don't be a hypocrite. You're fine, Meta. so do you keep links to threads that are a quarter of a year old around just in case orrrr did you see 1138 say something and decide to dig it up

Bold decision by the admins to tell someone who can't play the game to show that they can make a well rounded character.

Seon-rin Von Illdenberg what do you think of her.
rrrrrr replied to MetaphysicalPersona's topic in Character Stories
Seon is a 19 year old half Korean half German (German nobility, apparently, if the Von is anything to off of) genetically engineered genius lab assistant bio engineer scientist police officer whose physical appearance seems to have been based off of a drawing you liked. Also, she distrusts authority and gets into trouble with the law nearly every round. You might not be a bad roleplayer but your dedication to playing this awful character is baffling. -
Walter Brooks, Treat Hernandez, Moses Fitzgerald feedback

I mean, I only play Treat when medical is well staffed so I don't have to do every single thing like you seem to want me to. And another thing: what fucking procedure lmao it's medical not sec i'm not gonna read my patients their miranda rights before i start surgery, diphead -
If ion rifles are weak towards the thing they're designed to beat (non-IPC synths), then they're in sore need of a buff.

BYOND Key: BotanistPower Character Names: Walter Brooks, Treat Hernandez, Moses Fitzgerald Species you are applying to play: Read the title of this thread. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Can I honestly ask why this is even a question? What color? Uhh, okay? Red, I guess, so that'd make him one of those fancy ex-aristocrat Tajara, at least in terms of ethnicity. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. I have played a Tajaran on BS12 before, actually, and have been familiar with the race of fictional manimals since their conception. I've played DND with the man who created them. He flaked out on DMing a game and for that I shall never forgive him. He regrets it (making the Tajaran). Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: In all honesty.. because I think it'd be funny. Tajaran are an inherently comedic race to me, in no short part due to the kind of person that plays them. An odd bunch, I wish to infiltrate the Tajaran player's inner circles. It's sort of like when a missionary goes into the jungle and they find him 10 years later, having assimilated into the tribe he sought to convert. What I'm saying is, who knows, maybe I'll really like it and start wanting to bone anthropomorphic cats? Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They're not human, to start. Tajaran have an entirely different way of thinking, culture, and so on. Always a big fan of strange things, playing a Tajaran seems like a good way to spend my free time. Character Name: Reginald Abdullah Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Reggie's family fled Adhomai shortly following the revolution. His father, the foreman of a mine and member of a noble family, sought to give his son a normal life on his adopted home of Elyra - to do this, he named him Reginald, not realizing that Reginald is a horribly uncommon name among those of Middle Eastern heritage. His mother was generally a good for nothing who only knew how to play the basilet and spend money. For that, Reginald's father was glad to be rid of her. Quickly finding that his large horde of gold coins he smuggled past customs by unknown means were worthless (and then later finding out they were, in fact, worth something), Reginald's father became depressed. Later on, shortly after Reginald's birth, he converted to the Islamic faith, becoming one of the first alien converts to Islam. Now known as Mufasa bin Sal'raizur Al-Adhomai, Reginald's father found a new meaning in life... foremanship at a mine. Reginald's childhood was troubled, mainly because he's a catbeast. Finding it hard to fit in among his peers (both due to his Tajaran heritage and because he referred to his classmates as his peers), Reginald adopted a rock'n'roll lifestyle. Throughout college, Reggie worked hard to earn a bachelor's degree in communications. Finding that not only was his degree worthless, Reggie entered NT boot camp and learned how to arrest a man, how to do many push-ups and how Tajaran are physically unfit for security work. Despite it all, Reggie left boot camp and finished his one year of cadetship, becoming a fully fledged security officer. Despite it all, he has never truly stopped living the rock'n'roll life - one of heavy drinking and promiscuous women, all of whom were not interested in his weird cat body. Life is hard for Reggie. What do you like about this character? He has experienced the duality of man in full, living in two worlds - that of cat men and that of men men. He is almost completely foreign to actual Tajaran culture, aside from Siik'mas and the general idea that communism is inherently flawed. He's the Frank Zappa of catbeasts. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 5 out of 10. Notes: I will change anything but the character's name. He has to be named Reginald.
