  1. 1. Ziilch started working for Zeng-Hu in 2462, and had some trouble adjusting to being in the physical world for such long periods. While they eventually got more used to working outside VR, they still spend most of their time off the clock in VR. 2. Ziilch sees the Zo'ra as being overly controlling and demanding, especially since what they see as the "theft" of the C'thur's accomplishments in creating the Bulwarks. They're generally weary of Zo'ra, but will work with them. They see K'lax as being overly accomodating to the Zo'ra, but doesn't dislike the hive or any K'lax Vaurca they've met. 3. Ziilch is very interested in learning about the differences between alien species compared to the Vaurcae, especially Skrell. They've studied the effects of medicines on different species extensively as part of their research. They're especially familiar with the Skrell, considering that most of what they would provide outside the C'thur would be for the majority Skrell population of the planet they worked on, but they find other alien biology very interesting. Their favorite thing to learn about their alien peers is endocrinology.
  2. BYOND Key: hollyhock Character Names: Julia Bury, Matilda Ryan, Distant Howls of Rusted Winds, Wandering the Wastes With the Vihnmes Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character: RGB 150, 180, 255, unbound of Mouv’lek’tanta (Very light blue) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Vaurcae are super interesting! They're absolutely ancient, having had an agricultural revolution on Sedantis I before Homo Sapiens had even evolved. Their lifespans are tiny, especially compared to how long Vaurcan civilization has existed. Bound are completely different from humans, playing more like stationbound cyborgs with how you think while playing as them. Their culture is very very interesting, especially with how each hive has interacted and integrated with a species. I also like how they're funny ant people. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They're the most technologically-advanced species in the Spur, with highly-augmented bodies as well as advanced cryogenic, virtual reality, and wetware technology. Their biology is somewhat similar to ants and other insects, with pheremones completely changing the development of newborn vaurcae fron the egg. Their development is completely influenced by the Breeder in charge of their egg, who can choose them for a hyper-specialized Bound, flexible Unbound, or other specific type of Vaurca. They can even be used to grow living wetware computers from a Vaurca's brain tissue, allowing for computers with unfathomable capabilities. Character Name: Ka'Akaix'Ziilch C'thur Please provide a short backstory for this character Ziilch was hatched as an Unbound in 2458, raised in VR and taught to perform pharmeceutical research, memorizing . Once six months old, they were released from VR and allowed to take part in research for the C'thur. Preferring to spend any moment that didn't need them to be physically present in VR, they avoided the physical world as much as they they could for years, working with peers of their hive cell on various projects put on display in the Bazaar of Curiosity. Although never receiving a grant, Ziilch performed a great deal of research in the pursuit of funding and recognition. Ziilch's hive cell was selected for a work order from Zeng-Hu Pharmecuticals, requiring much more time spent out of VR doing physical pharmeceuticals research. Ziilch found it hard to adapt to staying out of VR for long periods, often retreating to various subrealms like Experience whenever they could find the free time. Their hive cell was kept to research in the Nralakk Federation for around a year, working mostly with Skrell, before being transferred to Tau Ceti. Ziilch was soon assigned to the SCCV Horizon as a pharmacist; although performing little research, they're happy to be able to work for Zeng-Hu and for their hive... with what time off they have spent in VR. What do you like about this character? I love the VR that's central to Vaurcan society, and I love their relationships with other species: this character, I think, is interesting to me with their relationship with Skrell, and their reliance on VR for comfort and escapism. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Around a 7/10? I can always improve, but I can handle writing and improvise fairly readily. Notes: I hope this is alright!?
  3. BYOND Key: hollyhock Character Names: Katerina Nepovimova, Lucia Accardi, Julia Bury Species you are applying to play: Dionae What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Dionae-colored! Specifically, default color. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Many times. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I absolutely love the Dionae; their inherently social-mindedness from being made up of multiple minds, their slow pace, and aversion to violence. The diversity of mindtypes makes each Dionae fundamentally unique, both with how they speak and interact, and how they think, what roles each Diona plays in the gestalt, the individual memories and personalities combining to make a person more than the sum of their parts. The way they inherit memories through drinking blood and eating bodies, and how they might be seen by other sapients for this, is also extremely interesting to me. Overall, Dionae have been my favorite species since I first read about them, and I'd love to get to play the part of one. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Depending on the Dionae, there might be more or less. A Dionae that fits the Singular Sound, for instance, would have an internal monologue essentially like any other sapient species. Many Dionae, however, would have more of an internal dialogue, talking to themselves before they speak. This is, I think, the biggest difference between Humans and Dionae: the multiple beings in one gestalt. They also, of course, photosynthesize and absorb DNA to obtain memories. Character Name: Distant Howls of Rusted Winds Heard From Our Sanctuary, Now Lost to the Flames of Hubris Please provide a short backstory for this character Grown in a small Dionae garden and solar farm in a settlement just outside Vonnegut after multiple lengthy application processes, the seven nymphs that would make this gestalt up were raised by older Dionae communally. The Gestalts also took care of a Penuma in the center of their living space. The nymphs would always follow the examples set by the gestalts teaching them, often mimicking their deliberations and democratic way of making decisions among themselves. When it eventually came time to be examined for sentience and merge into a gestalt, they kept this behavior, and currently have a Harmonious Hymn mindtype, and are a Coeus today in 2464. The gestalt moved offworld in order to attend Solis Cognito University, partially funded by their family on Mars. Graduating with a Masters in Robotics in 2462, they had signed on with Hephaestus Industries a few weeks before the Violet Dawn incident. Most of their 'family' managed to make it off the planet with the Penuma soon before the destruction of Vonnegut, but were now refugees in orbit of Mars. Distant Howls of Rusted Winds requested a transfer to the Republic of Biesel, while the survivors from the garden found employment in Crest Olympia. On a work visa and sponsored by Hephaestus, the Dionae signed on to serve aboard a Hephaestus vessel repairing cyborgs, sending as much of their wages that they could back home. Over a year later, they requested a transfer to the SCCV Horizon. What do you like about this character? I want to play Distant Howls of Rusted Winds as being deeply convicted in the importance of democratic choice and in regular change and adaptation, if that makes sense. They want to see things from multiple viewpoints, and find synthetics fascinating for their diversity in how they think and see the world. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7? Notes: I hope I did alright. Thank you for reading!
