Yes - as I said in the post directly above it was three months ago haha. The reason why I brought it up was precisely because some time had passed and I wanted to know what Delta had to say about it now. But as I also stated in my previous post, what bugs me is that he still doesn't seem to believe what he said reflected upon him as a mod, and upon CM. Can we classify it as a mistake learned from, in this case?

Frances - Moderator Application

Because apps need to be so serious. Half of the apps have little jokes in them. If you want to ignore the entire rest of my application because I wrote "13" as my age, uh, sigh. -
Frances - Moderator Application

Literally all of my answers save for my age are serious. Have you actually read it? Witt asked for the origin of the meme I added at the bottom and I answered. -
That's good, but not the full extent of the thing. Going from calling members of your playerbase fucknuggets to making mod on another server in the span of three months is a bit of a stretch, but people can change and I can't claim that I've seen you do or say anything bad on here lately. However, the fact that you seem unaware that there was a clear possibility (I would even call it certainty) that your words would be perceived as those of a CM mod perplexes me a bit.

Frances - Moderator Application

1. I actually age in reverse, much like Benjamin Button. The reason why I appear older on my skype is because I made it longer ago. 2. I'm applying on the lore team to help Jackboot with editing (which I've already done a bit of, there might just be more in the future plus if I get accepted I suppose I'll have to hang out with the boys in the lore chat.) Lore isn't a terribly big time commitment, it's mostly a matter of ideas and creativity. And getting work done when work needs doing - which isn't terribly difficult imo. 3. -
Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: Isuckatroleplaying (also FFrances, which I ran out of character slots on) Character Name(s): Megan Manson, Emily Saville, some other minor characters nobody probably noticed. AI Name(s): NOPE (Engineering Cyborg) Preferred means of contact: PM is best, Pager second (either Isuckatroleplaying or FFrances). I also have a skype though I don't always check it. Age: 11 Timezone: EST When are you on Aurora?: It honestly varies a ton, though I'm usually there for the deadhour rounds, among others (I noticed there's not that many current staff but a lot of trial staff for deadhour) Experience How long have you played SS13?: Since times immemorial (not really, I lost a fight to a maintenance drone) How long have you played on Aurora: Since spring of last year. I've been playing more actively in the past few months, I just don't talk in OOC a lot How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I lost a fight to a maintenance drone. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: A little, I was on staff here for the best part of a year (I left to pursue my dreams.) Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Three-day ban for the adventures of Tpr Cena & co. (I was actually merely his sidekick.) And there's all the other stuff with the bald chucklefucks everybody knows about. Had a short talk with Tenenza, he convinced me Aurora had seen enough bald action for a while. (He was surprisingly chill while explaining the whole thing, too.) I won't do it again, mum. Personality Why do you play SS13?: It's a great game to construct stories and meet people in, and there's a few issues I have with traditional roleplaying that SS13 thankfully answers. I also like how the game doesn't get old because the content is created by the players, we have an active community, and we can even dev for it and basically make the game ourselves. Woo! Why do you play on Aurora?: Because Citadel Station's nagas scare me (no but honestly, Aurora is also a decent server). What do moderators do?: I believe moderators are there to help people. Some really important (and underappreciated) qualities for a good mod are empathy, patience, and open-mindedness. It's honestly a more complicated job than just "enforce the rules and try to follow common sense", because what "common sense" actually is can be hotly disputed. Too often, I've seen mods lose their spirit and forget to have fun with people. It's not a job, it's something you do for fun. The responsibility part, while essential, should only come after an actual desire to do this stuff and help people. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Well, HRP mods actually have it easier than LRP mods, because there's a lot less chaos to deal with in HRP. I believe the offside to that is that there can be some really varied ways to interpret what is "good roleplay" or not, and sometimes none of the options are fully good. There's a lot of grey situations, like when two people roleplayed and filled the role they had, yet are still unhappy with how some events turned out. I think one of the things mods on HRP servers specifically should do is help facilitate communication with these people... get them to understand each other and see that even if they disagree they shouldn't be mad or assume the worst out of the other. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Because a lot of older members of staff seem tired with their jobs and have quit, and I've never gotten tired of it myself. I also changed my mind a lot on what a good mod should do since I was headmin - I wish mods could be nicer and friendlier, and I'd much rather be able to show example by doing what I want to see staff do myself than constantly put out complaints. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I'm outgoing, patient, and easy to reach. I try my best not to judge people on first impressions, and get to the bottom of every situation I encounter. I also try not to leave people hanging, and keep an eye out to make sure every situation gets handled, and everybody gets listened to. Some people might be thinking that I disagree with staff for the sake of it, but I only really look out for the underdog when I believe the underdog deserves being heard and no one is paying them any attention. When I agree with staff, there's not much of a use in saying anything, because what I agree with has already been said. (I do try to encourage staff when I see them do something good, though!) How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I try to be friendly more than aloof. Sometimes, a stupid smiley like v.v or -_- can go a long way towards showing people you're not out to hate their guts even if you disagree with them. Defusing stressful situations is actually an important skill when dealing with people - you won't get anywhere by pushing back when people put you under pressure, but if you give them time to calm down you can actually get surprisingly far with people others would have banned or muted in a heartbeat. ((Whoops, entry withdrawn. Explanations somewhere below.))

Three weeks after is pretty consistent, though? I'm saying there's a possibility they're related. If you say they're not, I'll believe they're not, though I find it slightly illogical that you're downplaying this issue and treating it as something you don't really think about much when speaking of your time on CM, yet it was big enough at the time to cause you to delete your entire reddit account (which had an incredibly long post history on /r/ss13). The screenshot posted doesn't mention any death threats, though, and neither does the reddit thread this was pulled from. I understand being emotional, but when someone posts to complain about a ban on social media, it's something you'd be expected to explain before resorting to insults, no? The way this situation stands it looks like you just called somebody a fucknugget because they got banned from multikeying and made a thread about it, and then deleted your comments when you realized/somebody told you that was a terrible thing to do. I also... don't think you can, well... speak as a player by posting server logs in the same argument... like, come on. You're clearly representing CM staff there. Edit: You also said the server host was going to drink the OP's tears... while you were a mod. If you don't realize what you said reflects badly on the server (though it would even if you were simply a player) then this isn't bound to end well tbh.
-
Something didn't sit right with me, so I went back and looked... The incidents that led to you deleting your reddit account involved telling a banned CM user on reddit that Apophis would drink their sweet, fucknugget tears. That was three months ago and pretty much coincides with you leaving CM. Eh, I'll just, leave it here for now.
-
I must've been mistaken, then. My bad, carry on -_-
-
Ah, okay. So what happened, anyway?
-
Apophis. Uh... my bad. I seem to have an issue with confusing lizard fetishists -_-
-
Weren't you kicked out of CM by Yithani, followed by you deleting your reddit account because of some stuff you had said on there regarding CM? I mean, not trying to stir shit up here, but I'm genuinely curious that you didn't mention that at all when speaking about your CM experience, because I feel like it's something that would leave most people wondering.

Frances' loredev Editor Application
Frances replied to Frances's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I also don't want to take the Skrell "just because someone has to do it." I'd actually be quite interested in writing lore for a race (though creative writing isn't my strong suit, I think I can actually manage with storytelling and helping integrate the race into the game/into roleplay), it's just that I never really considered being in that position until I learned of Tool's departure a few days ago. I keep thinking of Crescentise, whose application was turned down despite just how enthused she was about working on the race. I know she no longer players on the server, but if there's anyone else who feels like that (and meets the right qualifications) I'd much rather leave them the place. Let more people in on the fun, you know? -
Ckey/BYOND Username: FFrances Position Being Applied For: Editor, Species caretaker? (I'm just saying if nobody feels passionate about doing Skrell lore I'd be glad to take a look at them) Past Experiences/Knowledge: I worked with Jackboot before. Wrote some old pages for the wiki (that were never used). As of a few hours ago, I'm also famous for having failed my creative writing class. Examples of Past Work: Proposed example of "quickstart" guides for alien species, basically a page which quickly sums up important info about alien races for people who can't be bothered to read the wiki pages (that seems to be most people tbh haha) Old wiki page I did that was never used (I even drew art for it, though it was a while ago) Preferred Mode of Communication: PM or Pager Additional Comments: desu

Seconded. I don't understand why we have health generation, in this day and age, in 2457, when infections will screw you over for not seeing a doctor anyway.

Canon has it right. Unathi also have a lower life expectancy unassisted (lower than ours in the 21st century) and are slow to innovate - pretty much everything in their culture is heavily reliant on tradition. They've been stuck with the feudal system for millenia, their industrial revolution took nearly twice as long as ours, and even though they're now in the space age there's a ton of villages on Moghes where people fight with sticks. It's like, you know these villages in Afghanistan that don't even know that cities exist? That's a good part of the Unathi. The ones we see in space aren't that bad, mind you (they have an effective intelligence agency and organized raiders, after all), but yeah, I can't really deny that Unathi are... slow. But, sadly, it's a species-specific trait, again, not the norm. So it's not really saying that humans are quick to adapt as much as that Unathi are particularly retarded. Oh, yeah, you know what humans are actually good at in our lore? Colonization and expansion. We actually beat the Skrell in colonies even though the Skrell have been going at the space thing for much longer, and I also think that even while being technologically behind our technological progress is faster. Which is why humanity is scaring the Skrell with AIs and stuff, because the Skrell see a lot of potential for total annihilation events in human science and there's not really much they can do to stop dangerously rampant progress. So, woo, go us.
-
You should PM your facts to Jackboot - it'll be more fun if the facts remain secret so people can be a little excited about them.
-
i would like to highlight nanotoxin's achievement as i have personally failed a creative writing course and did not even know you could fail a creative writing course
-
Well, the races we have were mostly modeled after humans, so whatever "special" traits humans have are transferred to them for the most part. A better way to look at this would be: "In what way would other species be weaker than humans?" Skrells having the consistency of a gelatin dessert would be a starting point, but besides that?

What it says on the tin. There's some sort of function that checks for the date and will give everyone a message on roundstart if, say, it's Christmas. I noticed that these little messages, while mostly inconsequential, get discussed in OOC, especially when the holiday is weird and unknown. Perhaps this could be a good occasion to get people more familiar with the lore, especially those that don't read the wiki or browse the lore subforums? Just replace the function by one that randomly picks from a list of interesting, non-useless facts written by our wonderful lore devs. That way we can all learn about the second great Tajaran revolution which ended in 2436.

What are "roasties"?
-
Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. I'm just saying that your opinion is foul and offensive... but thankfully not the majority. I'm really confused lmao. How is saying that players need guidelines offensive?
-
I like the idea of Dionae as gentle giants. It reinforces the idea of them being pacifists, because an angry Diona is not something that would be fun to encounter. For the planet lore, could we go full fantasy on this? I'm thinking of Dark Souls, and 350ft Dionae conjure up images of archtrees and demonic foliages.

Well, keep in mind phantom infections are a bug, and are not meant to be like that by design. Other infections are fairly easy to cure, no? Ointment/treat infected areas, give spaceacillin and antitox, and you're good to go.
