  1. Imo what I've been arguing for is highly context-dependent. I'm not forced to stick to a single black and white ideology no matter what. Most of the cases of "hugboxing" I complained against had to do with game mechanics, enforcement of the rules, and excessive moderation of OOC/IC (mostly when people were being harmless). Even during these incidents a lot of the staff were displaying the kind of strict and authoritarian attitudes I've come to dislike on here. I believe I can have an issue both with that and the tone the staff chooses to take when solving conflicts. If I've failed to clarify that, I apologize. In the end, there's a difference between "tone policing" and "being a cunt", and there's a difference between taking someone's argument in spite yet calling them out on their behavior, and completely disregarding what someone has to say because you don't like their tone. The issue, however, is that not everyone will be smart, patient, and full of enthusiasm to get along with the staff. I'd argue the responsibility of a good admin team would be to work with these people and convince them that the staff can be reasonable. You seem to prefer to reply to hostility and conflict with more hostility. You speak about people not having any rights, not being owed anything, not serving any purpose the moment they're found in violation of the rules. But in the end, are you there to solve problems and make people happy, or are you there to be right?

  3. I'm not discarding you. (I don't agree the administration isn't censoring users, whether their intent or not, but that's for another thread, not this one.) However, I believe your behavior is relevant as a headmin because you seem to be making a lot of people upset in easily avoidable ways (these are your users, after all.)

  5. It's more because of the way you're saying it. The point is relevant, but I don't see why you need to present it like a smartass. (I'll reply to the other stuff later, busy atm.)

  7. Then explain what people did to piss other people off - because that's what you should be arguing, not how right you are. I feel like you're focusing a lot more on the power you supposedly hold than is necessary. the salt is real

  9. There might be something wrong when your defense can essentially be summed up to "We own the place! We can do what we want!" rather than trying to argue an actual rationale to explain why you think an user is in the wrong.

  11. From a design standpoint, it's better to have strengths and weaknesses be obvious elements to the player. We might be better off taking away some of the small obscure buffs, while leaving obvious and easy to learn ones (you can't tase robots).

  13. Oh, well, yeah, solo IPC antags don't necessarily have it easy. Non-antag IPCs, however, don't have to particularly care about healing any more than your regular human (and in fact, can't go into crit and die, which is pretty neat.) Can we just, though, if we're gonna argue about damage and healing. Okay. Any amount of substantial damage will require treatment. As a plebe/human, you can't treat your own broken bones. You need to get into medbay (and good luck breaking in if you don't have access) to get supplies to treat anything major. If you get fucked up in a fight, you most likely won't be able to heal yourself for more than cuts and bruises. So I don't really think IPCs are even that different on that aspect, or that the "can't repair themselves" really matters other than as a minor annoyance when your run-of-the-mill non-antag completely legitimate IPC gets injured randomly and has to visit the roboticist.

  15. In my experience, the problem with Tajaran "personalities" is character/player-specific, not job-specific. Giving Tajarans job restrictions will change where you'll see them but it won't change their personalities. It could be good if you wanted to reinforce the sense of them being mistrusted or judged only fit for menial labor, but I don't think that's the problem this thread is trying to address. We're concerned with Tajarans being wayyyy hella sassy, not way hella smart.

  19. Do you mean the welders and wires readily available in primary tool storage? Anyway, the reason why no one complains about Dionas being OP is exactly because of how slow they are. If a Diona ever tried to kill you you could casually stroll away from them, though I'd like to know how you even managed to convince a Diona to engage in a fight with your person. So, try fighting someone while being stuck at walk speed and give me a report of how it went.

  21. I was always under the impression the harsh restrictions over genetics existed to curb both the ridiculous power of geneticists as well as the marked immersion break of having your regular coworkers running around with superpowers. In the end, it's a patch on a bigger problem, but genetics wasn't really planned with HRP or seriousness in mind. In the meantime (until genetics gets fully reworked or removed), the strict regulations on genetics testing ensures that the people who do play around with powers are capable of playing their role with a modicum of seriousness... or end up in the brig.

  23. I can't really disagree with that. If you don't like users, don't want to discuss issues with users, and want to boot users out when something goes wrong with them, you can. If you're saying you can't be convinced to think otherwise, well, you can't be convinced. I didn't think that was what the purpose of a headmin was, but there's only one headmin on this server, and they get to decide what their purpose is.

  25. Was your stern and authoritative attitude more effective?
