  1. The main complaint I have is that I'm getting warnings for my skillset. Which in that round composed of joint locking the bones of zombies rather than just keep them in a cell doing nothing to them and virology. I have virology, and medical experience. It does not take a genius to pop a bone out of place, so my problem is that the entire basis of DatBerry's complaint is wrong. My actions only increased the enjoyment of other zombies, by their own admission. What we mostly talked about was my skillset. I told him I had a believable reason and he responded aggressively, shooting down my argument without even considering it. The entire conversation segways into whether or not your skillset in character select even matters, which to he responded it does on a High RP server. This server is not a 'high RP server'. High RP servers don't have central command events where they promise to cyborgify everyone for losing beer, high RP servers don't have insistent memers constantly bleeding their memes into their characters and gameplay. High RP servers don't have manchild arguments in common channel every round. High Rp servers pretend they are at work and while some people do this, it's a very small percentage but worse than the numbers is that this behavior isn't frowned upon, it isn't regulated or controlled in any way. Why you ask? Because it's the normal. Or do they? I don't know because high-rp server means different things for different people, but it's normal to act this way on this server, which isn't a bad thing, but it's also not the lofty standards some people place arbitrarily on other people with literally meaningless statements like "high-rp server." What all the admins could do for me which would resolve this complaint, is to message me privately on what they think High-RP server means. I would like your unaltered perception, so please do not discuss your answers with the other administrators. I'm trying to prove a point into how meaningless a vague phrase like that is, and how dangerous it is to use such a ambiguous standard to administrate. The responses will be posted in a separate forum post.
  2. The IPC's aboard the Aurora lack both a binary modem and a law computer. That's a requirement for building them mechanically on this server. This means that they cannot be remotely accessed. They're like a computer with no network connection. If your character were an omni-competent super-ninja, why would they have the job that they have, and not be out leading special operations squads for NT or taking over the galaxy? I like my quotes. Just saying. What's stopping someone from downloading a IPC into a blank body and then sending them on their merry way to the station to do a specific job? This station needs NURSES so we send NURSEIPC2. NURSEIPC2 returns as the shift ends, gets uploaded. We need SCIENCEIPC2, you still use IPC2 but now it's a scientist and not a nurse.
  3. Bumping for viewing? This issue really bothers me. I've had round after round on this server, one that is suppose to be a High-RP server with regulars showing pisspour examples of it. This isn't a high RP server.
  4. http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=92&t=3637 http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6340&start=50 Considering your argument, I believe the linked threads help. Why am I wrong for assuming being a robot lets you know more than the average joe or that this server isn't a HRP server? Considering robots, there's nothing anyone's said to say otherwise, and the logic is sound too with them downloading information. As for my 'attitude', someone freaking out over something you didn't even know matters, and shooting down your reasonable explanation is a hostile attitude, one that a moderator should not have. More so when the person has literally no idea what you were talking about at first.
  5. BYOND Key: BygoneHero Staff BYOND Key: DatBerry Game ID: bGK9Rf Reason for complaint: The mod ruined my round, and two other zombie rounds during an event. Evidence/logs/etc: Additional remarks: DatBerry bwoinked me after I dislocated the knees of and arms of two zombies, which didn't even disable them. Made a big fuss about my SKILLSET, which up to his point I didn't even know mattered AT ALL. Ruined any RP I was having with the zombies and then tacked a warning for some reason or another even though I was going to change them. They ruined my round, and other peoples rounds power tripping and I seriously think they should consider how they handle themselves in future reports.
  6. Change from a NT research station to an NT mining colony, add personalized living spaces. Suddenly people are on the place they mostly live at, not the place they work.
  7. I was asked, and so I provided evidence. As for my initial involvement, it did include several attacks you made upon people in OOC which will be handled in a separate thread at the conclusion of this one.
  8. http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6515 This is where your opinions stop being opinions and start becoming attacks. From your post it seems like you are doing it for fun. The Aurora forums exist for the Aurora community to communicate, not to spread attacks. Poking fun is all well and good, but from your wording it's obvious you aren't trying for that. In the literal forum rules, Do not use ad hominem. This means do not attack a person's character (character in this case meaning the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual). You are expected to argue the presented ideas, not the person. If someone were to attack you, don’t take matters into your own hands, report it to us. ^^This is against forum rules.
  9. BYOND Key:Bygonehero Character name:MUM (Multithreaded Universal Machine) Item name: AI core Why is your character carrying said item to work? MUM is an antag only AI, this core is meant to convey that. Item function(s):To convey menace Item description:Not applicable Item appearance: How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? MUM's AI core will provide a clear badguy feel for when the crew breach into the core, and disable it. Additional comments:None
  10. Thanks for addressing my concerns Rick, this complaint can be closed if the forum mods get off their butts
  11. Alot of what's being discussed touches on the overall problem playing alien races. They have expectations to their character that do not exist with humans, and even IPC's for that matter. As a human you have no expectations that other players expect from your character to make them believable, it's why they are the easiest to roleplay. As a IPC ((essentially robot)) you are expected to act sorta robotic. That's it. Very easy, and can pretty much go anywhere with a character. ( IPC's do not have history or culture) I could not, for example believably play a countrified Skrell cargo technician who speaks in trucker lingo who drinks constantly or A insular nobility loving Taja that despises openly the effect humans have had on their race. The first example because it's silly and not the intellectual pursuits we expect from Skrell, the second example because the character wouldn't have ever joined Nanotrasen, a human company, in the first place. People expect Unathi to be traditionalist space lizards that hold honor and community values in high esteem. To have an example of counter culture is to open a literal Pandora's Box for all other applications that ever want to play Unathi. Destroying the Unathi lore expectations and defeating the purpose of making alien culture in the first place.
  12. A good app, and a good roleplayer but my problem is the precedent a Unathi that breaks the mould of what we expect a Unathi to be. Your application is snowflakey and changes one of the core expectations we have come to expect from Unathi players. I'm not saying your character or a character like yours is impossible, our own history can be useful in that regard as it is full of powerful women that have shaped society into what it is today, but no matter how many of these women there are, there are more that did not try for change. I would see your character as a Emmeline Pankhurst or Rosa Parks, not the average person coming to work on a Nanotrasen space station and Therein lay the root of the problem of accepting your application. If it is accepted then why shouldn't other similar characters be accepted? Suddenly Unathi culture no longer matters as much as it did before and ceases to be relevant at all once your character is considered the 'average person.' -1
  13. I was asking so many times not because I wanted to kill, but because I didn't know who it wanted me to kill. It was talking to CUBIE about killing them after it sent me to destroy the cloning console. I kept asking because I didn't know who they were talking about. I only went there because it seemed CUBIE needed help. The logs from the attack were from where I dispatched the Doctor, I fired upon the engineer after he flashed CUBIE. I will admit that I didn't give them much communication before deciding to kill them, but is that any different than a engineering borg saying Sorry before attacking? It was suppose to be an ambush as the AI wanted us to also remove the bodies after we were done.
  14. BYOND Key: BygoneHero Staff BYOND Key: Ricky Madenson Reason for complaint: Contradictory statements, Disagreement upon the results of their investigation Evidence/logs/etc: I followed the AI's commands and only killed them after it made it absolutely clear that it wanted them dead. Questioning and judging me on things I couldnt possibly know. Ignoring the fact that the person he had a problem with me killing attacked another borg before I dispatched them. Additional remarks: My warning if it is just, which I do not believe it is, is not very clear or concise, and contradicts itself within the first sentence. I disagree with what Ricky found in his investigations, but otherwise our exchanges were without incident, if anything I was slightly aggressive towards him near the end, as I was late meeting some friends. If anything is done, I believe this warning should be either removed or changed to actually reflect what I received a warning for.
  15. You being salty on OOC isn't offensive, it's just rude and your 'shitty banter' mostly consists of memes and ripping on other people, generally not a nice thing. I get you have strong opinions, but everyone has opinions. You should realize that some people don't want to hear them during a round, more so if it criticizes their play in a unconstructive way.
  16. Yes I was bad in the past, but thats the past, years past, on another server, with different forms of acceptable play. What matters is I know how to play synthetics to and above the standards of this server and how to RP them, debating the merits of which this forum serves the purpose of.
  17. Its an application for IPCs not particular characters. Though I am flattered you remember a character from when I first started playing this game years ago.
  18. BYOND Key: BygoneHero Character Names: Anima, ALICE, Anneliese Gallant, MUM, Too many AI's to name Species you are applying to play:IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've liked playing robots since starting SS13, IPC's are the next step from them to playing newer roles and having new opportunities for roleplay. Where once you had the master and servant relationship with many of the people you interacted with as a robot, as an IPC you could have many more. I want to play IPC's to make characters that can develop past the master and servant mold to other more complex relationships, some which might even consider IPC's a friend, or at the very least, an equal. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPC's are entirely mechanical. Being completely synthetic they are vulnerable to EMP and Heat. They require no oxygen, food or sleep to survive, but instead feed on electrical power. To traverse space coolers are needed to keep their systems from overheating. Damaged IPC's are brought to robotics facilities instead of medical. Due to being completely synthetic they cannot be cloned and chemicals do not work on them. IPC's do not experience pain from any damage they may sustain. IPC's would generally have less cost of living than the average human, needing less space and having less general needs. Character Name:ALICE Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs ALICE, or the Automated Learning Intelligent Computer Environment is an extremely old Artificial intelligence, being constructed and installed on the Odin about the same time as when construction on the NMSS Odin was completed. During its tenure, ALICE has served countless Nanotrasen Stations, from the Exodus,Luna,Apollo and onward. For its time, ALICE was state-of-the-art, classified as a Designed-Shard Intelligence, with ALICE shards being loaded onto ready available robotic shells. Being a networked consciousness, at any one time there may be more than one ALICE in service, with each ALICE merging with the main intelligence at the end of its use. Due to ALICE's use in this manner, and with the advent of positronic intelligence units, ALICE has been used less, with roles being delegated to superior positronic intelligences. Its creators, attempting to prove that their creation can continue to be useful have pushed forward a new intelligence sharding process, allowing ALICE to inhabit integrated positronic units. For the researchers that made ALICE, it could be heralding a new cycle for their company or it could be the beginning of their swan song. What do you like about this character? I like interweaving the established history of the server into my characters, ALICE is no exception, and these historical events, like being in use before positronic intelligences were made, affects how I play them. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6/10, I have my highs and lows, but I believe I do pretty well when it comes to robots at least. Notes:
  19. Sorry, I edited my original message. As far as adding them, you should reference what other servers did, so you know what didn't and did work for them at least.
  20. In all seriousness, this has been done before. I would check to see what worked and didn't if your serious about adding them.
  21. I don't remember the admin I spoke too, but they got onto Hycinth for being unreasonable. Suffice to say, I no longer have any interest in playing SS13 partly because this experience as I was trying it after being suggested by my roommate. As I understood it, we protect the crew and they murdered a crew member, so bolting one inside is not a bad thing to do because they are dangerous.
  22. I hardly remember this. I talked at length to one of the admins, and they specifically told me the issue was resolved, even going out of my way to message Hycinth to apologise to them anyway even though I didn't do anything wrong. After berating me continuously in byond private chat, they eventually calmed down and said that we were good. As for the incident in question, I don't remember the law exactly but I know the PAI was crew, crew that they killed. I bolted one of them into a room. What he does afterward is completely on him.
