  2. I really like this idea, especially on the basis of being a ship able to explore backgrounds, and maybe places of the setting without the massive physical and metaphorical weight of the Horizon pulling it down. Moreover, the design and map of the ship is superb, makes me want that the Horizon was less of a shoe box and more of a ship. But I got really confused by - and I think that's a point that should be brought more attention over - what is to do with this idea if the community likes it. Like, is it just here for show? Is it just something we can all stare at and get a bit wishful with? I personally would like a lot if this was considered as an alternative map/scenario/setting/whatever that either the admin or the community could choose before a round start. Of couse shit like having to manage what essentially is two maps and two narratives may be tricky, but the logistics of it could be solved if we all decided it's worth the investiment. Anyway. Congratulations for making something very cool, Dreamy.
  3. Lillian is a fairly skilled player and a solid roleplayer. I had nothing but good interactions with her while she commanded the engineering department. +1
  4. Damn. I got in real late for this. Either way, lets keep it going. @Comet Blaze For someone finding their place. @goolie Funky and playful. @Tomixcomics THE Chef. @CatsinHD Daughter of the Free Council. @hazelmouse Energetic and talkative. @Misiek1001 Melancholy amidst the cold. And to continue this thread, I offer the mustache-wearing... Rogério Devera.
  5. Abandoned outposts, Space Scrapyards, giant celestial bodies made up of trash, abandoned mining stations, forgotten radio stations, lost bunkers and facilities, etc... Would all be great to have as ruins for Tau Ceti/Biesel.
  6. Maybelle has displayed many times, through characters such as Kuhn and Braun, the capacity to engage, discuss, and explore many of the core topics that compose the IPC lore and its themes. Giving her the ability to engage in this conversation once again, now with a positronic character, seems like a natural progression. +1 from me.
  7. +1 Francis can coordinate and communicate effectively with the rest of command, and seems to do a solid job managing ops as well. No complaints on his RP either.
  8. Ckey/BYOND Username: Farofafeijao Position Being Applied For: Wiki Maintainer Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page? Yes. Past Experiences/Knowledge: I have rough knowledge of mediawiki editing. Examples of Past Work: I co-wrote the Himean military expasion lore app alongside GeneralCamo. Additional Comments: I don't know a lot about the type of work I would be contributing to, but I want to help the community the way I can, and this seems like a very straight-forward way to do it.
  9. Gonk, Anthony, or even Mr Albania, is a very solid RPer with a very good knowledge of the game and what constitutes a good enviroment for HRP, and fun overall. I gotchu brother. +1 from me.
  10. Apart from already demonstrating good knowledge, and understanding, of Synthetic Lore, Comet Blaze also brings some very cool ideas to the table, and a well written article to back it up. And i actually didnt know Purpose existed before reading your app, so that's another positive. +1 from me.
  11. I dont know Lenny, but from previous experiences, i think he knows how to roleplay his characters pretty well, and how to obey the rules even when doing something funky or fun. An good example of this would be Bloodclaw. Moreover, i think that his answers align with what should be expected of a Head of Staff. +1
  12. BYOND key: Farofafeijao Discord Username: farofafeijao Character names: How long have you been playing on Aurora? Started playing on the server at around the end of 2022. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Yes. One warning for validhunting, and ten notes made by administrators and moderators. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? The role Heads of Staff fill ingame are that of a regulator to ensure rounds are fun, since more often than not, only they hold enough power to act as one. Be it through how they interact with antagonists, or how they lead their respective departments. If a Head Of Security responds too aggressively, or to softly, to an antagonist, it might compromise the enjoyment of the round. At the same time, if a Chief Of Medical is unable to organize the medical department to minimum standards - so as to allow for some players to keep playing the game even in face of severe injury to their characters - it might compromise the enjoyment of the round for the majority. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? A player which holds a command whitelist should act as a guide of the game mechanics and a reference of good conduct and roleplay for players, old and new. That means keeping a fairly high standard of roleplay, a good knowledge of the department you're playing, and both an understanding and respect of the rules. To uphold such standards one could simply use the already available tools, such the discord, the forums, the ahelp, and the LOOC. In fact, many problems can be solved without admin intervention by using the LOOC for mutual understanding. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. Born to Colettish immigrants on Valkyrie by the name Jorge Josias Magalhães Barca, Jorge aspired to work on law enforcement due to his family history on the Planetary Police of San Colette. As soon as he came of age, Jorge joined the Valkyrie Security Department, starting his career as a Patrol Officer. Through his extensive career on the VSD, Jorge was able to gain much experience on the law enforcement field, working from SWAT, to probation, to even K9 work. Though what would most shape Jorge's mentality was the inner systems and politics of the Valkyrie Security Department, and its approach to dealing with the wider criminal organizations that operated on places like Hades. Being pragmatic was the name of the name on an ecumenopolis as big and as important as Valkyrie. Right after the Biesel independence and the Solarian Invastion of 2458, Jorge could see the gears shifting, and new opportunities opening on the Horizon. Barca then quit the VSD, and joined with Nexus Corporate Security shortly thereafter. By the Solarian Invasion of 2462 and the ascension of the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate, Jorge already had a respectable position under the PMC, and the second assault in Tau Ceti allowed Barca to distinguish himself among his peers due to his leadership skills. Combined with his extensive experience in the Valkyrie Security Department, he quickly rose through the ranks, acquiring a comfortable position in this new mega corporate system. After spending so much of his life guarding the docks, Barca decided that he wanted to see how it was like from the side of the ships. Using his connections inside Nexus, Jorge was able to be selected to work as a Head Of Security of the Internal Security Department on the SCCV Horizon. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Head Of Security. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Jorge Barca - Head Of Security. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Yes. Extra notes: My ping in the main server goes from complete trash to playable from time to time. As of right now, its playable, but i don't know if it will be complete trash again. If it turns into complete trash again, i may have problems in my trial period.
  13. My suggestion, as another SSMDbro, would to create a small paragraph in the SSRM of the Solarian Reconstruction page about the former units of the Visegrad Defense Force that became Marine and Army units after the VDF integrated into the SSMD, and the SSMD integrated back into Sol. I think that would achieve the same goal you set with adding another paragraph the 1st Marine Division.
  14. Sorry for the late response, but just giving you the heads up. Usually, when a round carries an "R" on its name, it means that its a rimmed cartridge. I know that you intended for it to signify a rifle cartridge, but careful cause people might get confused by it.
  15. Despite not being overall essential to the RP or even gameplay for most of the players, i think a project like this would go a long way to making guns in the game being both more inlined with Lore, and way more fun to use and mess with. I would be very happy to see this project getting worked on. Though, one question. Is the choice to make every intermediate to big cartridge a rimmed one deliberate?
  16. Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Miniscule. Species: Human Short Description: Correcting a description on the Mictlan wiki page Long Description: Recently noticed that the quick description in bold text for Mictlani characters in the Mictlan wiki page has a rather funny error that, i dont know how me and many other people havent noticed until now. The error is that the description describes Mictlan as being "consistent with people of Central and South America". On a surface level it doesnt seem wrong, until you realize that Mexico is, in fact, located in North America. The description ends up leaving out probably the region mostly associated with Mictlani culture and heritage. Names and places such as Huitzilopochtli, Llactapata and Huehuecóyotl are very much Aztec/Mexican based. So is Pulque, a traditional mexican drink. "While Mictlan is been a beacon of multiculturalism among humans and aliens in the Orion Spur, many humans that have immigrated to the planet have been assimilated into Mictlan's culture and society. Because of this, human characters born on Mictlan must have names and appearances consistent with the peoples of Central and South America. Only characters native to Mictlan may take the Mictlan accent. This is enforceable by server moderators and admins." What i want to do is to simply replace the highlighted text above for "human characters born on Mictlan must have names and appearances consistent with the peoples of Mexico, Central America and South America.", thus correcting this rather goofy mistake. I could have probably just pinged someone in discord, but this seems a more "professional" way to do it.
  17. Would be very cool to have another food brand other than Getmore. Specially if we can have places that prefer QuickMeals to Getmore. Like, Biesel prefers Getmore but Coalition prefers QuickMeals or something like that. Anyway, i think this is a great app.
  18. I think that the IAC warrants additions like this. The whole organization has been kinda sidelined, and renewing its importance and inpact will do nothing but good imo.
  19. I understand. Though the most notable SRF occupied planets, Novo Igman and Lhokgon, were invaded in 2465, which would create problems for Gauze's backstory. Could i say that Gauze was from an unspecified planet on the Northern Wildlands that fell into SRF occupation as soon, or very early, to the start of the war? I'll keep this in mind of future WLs. Thank you for the heads up. Though dependant on a Positronic's "hardware" capacity, personality can develop through time, usually from a combination of memory, unique priorities on self-preservation, and extensive experience with environments owned to long times of living and and rationalization of one's self. As such, older positronics tend to have more present personalities due to all of the former being more well developed.
  20. A positronic usually learn skills in a very similar process to organic brains, learning through memory, a previously made act, and knowledge, technical information that can be achieved through datapacks or more usual means. As for self-preservation, every IPC seeks their own safety as a primary directive, but what that safety and self-preservation means can vary a lot between positronic to positronic, and even vary depending on how old the positronic is. This also involves on how IPCs think, since every action performed by one has reason and motive behind it. Regarding how IPCs are treated by the Spur, positronics usually hold a very poor position in organic society. If they're not property, they still are pretty much discriminated against, and viewed as lesser by a big chunk of the population, specially in places where free positronics arent as common as in Biesel or Konyang for example. It does matter, but i wanted to keep the backstory brief enough to not be more of a chore to read. Its time on the Civil Guard provided Gauze with a window to the spur and its many cultures and peoples, but not exactly an understanding of it, or its place on this corner of the galaxy. Ultimately, war made its experiences clouded and somewhat limited to a military aspect of life for an already young positronic, but opened Gauze's mind enough for it, when it had the chance, to pursue a fully understanding of the spur and itself on another diverse work environment such as the Horizon. Since i tried to keep the backstory brief, i also ended up neglecting this part of Gauze's backstory. The experience did in fact change Gauze. Its near fate at the hands of the SRF triggered its self-preservation to be free, which made it volunteer for the Civil Guard in the first place. Moreover, it gave Gauze the notion that property is no state for a positronic to be, seeing how the IPCs left behind in the SRF were ultimately treated. I hope this clears up all questions. Thank you.
  21. BYOND Key: Farofafeijao Character Names: -Ulysses Mardesal (Retired idk) -Roger Devera -Rudolf Letnev (Deceased) -Bobby DeMarco -Consus Remo -Robert Roman -Aron Olszak -Jeremy Polanski Species you are applying to play: IPC Baseline What color do you plan on making your first alien character: White Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: IPCs offer some roleplay opportunities that simply aren't available for other species such as Humans. Moreover, the current situation of IPCs along with their own nature makes possible a multitude of interesting backgrounds for IPCs along with some of the most varied characters around, despite being all in the same species group. combine this with the soon to come Konyang, and i felt it was time for me to finally get this WL Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs are probably the most diverse species in the entire catalog. Their many possibilities for backgrounds and developments makes it so that things usually assumed like gender, social role, belonging, and so on are entirely up in the air for IPCs. For example, one IPC may choose to be as human as possible, assuming a shell frame, a gender, a gender role, a human personality, and see itself as effectively human. Though another IPC may see itself and their species as an entirely unique thing, and decide to distance itself from any trait commonly associated with organic lifeforms, such as not having a gender, not seeing itself as part of any human group, not sensing the need to assume any type of discernible personality, their relationship to humanity as a whole and so much more. Of course that some IPCs may not have this choice, and simply be a very smart machination under control of its handler, but even this aspect of the species is entirely unique to itself. Character Name: Gauze-2 Please provide a short backstory for this character Gauze-2 was created on 04/05/2460 on Nomad Alpha by Einstein Engines as a medical IPC capable of performing surgery, and was quickly sold to a local private Hospital in Lycoris. There they started working as a company owned IPC surgeon, also receiving their current designation of “Gauze-2”. During the Solarian Collapse and swift ascension of the Solarian Restoration Front on Lycoris, Gauze and other medical IPCs from the same company caught the eye of SRF officers, and were to be repurposed for military duty to fuel their war machine. However, Gauze ,along with others, escaped the planet with the help of one of the Hospital’s nurses, who had a relative that owned a cargo freighter. Along with other refugees, they made way for San Collete, where Gauze would volunteer to the Civil Guard in hopes of eventually achieving his freedom and escaping this messy situation. Due to their medical capabilities, Gauze was assigned as field surgeon, which granted them a bigger survival chance during their two years of service. In 2464 after their two year voluntary service was complete, Gauze was sent to outside Solarian/Wildlands space. After receiving their freedom, they quickly joined Wildlands Squadron as a surgeon not only to start making their own money, but also to guarantee their freedom. After some work with the Wildlands Squadron, Gauze requested to be reassigned to work in the SCCV Horizon, primarily to experience a diverse work environment in which they could better shape their understanding of this universe as a free positronic. The transfer was accepted under the pretense of skill improvement and sharing of experience with medical professionals from other corporate backgrounds. As of September 2465, Gauze is en route to the SCCV Horizon to begin work. What do you like about this character? That they are in essence a clean slate looking to form their views of the world in the multi diverse work environment that is the SCCV Horizon. This would allow me to slowly shape Gauze into something new based on their interactions and experiences with the rest of the crew. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Honestly? I don't know. But i think I'm decent enough to be able to play an IPC and not fumble it.
  22. Im yet to clean the Planetary Navy Significant Divisions.
  23. I understand. Could i reach you in discord as soon as the revision is ready for a new evaluation?
  24. Wouldn't fight for it to stay on the app, but, i think it can give a bit more fluff to someone's background and serve as a way to have a few information about notable himean units without going into too much headcanon. Essentially, its something nice to give a bit more of volume to a backstory, like a solarian character having served into the 25th Fleet. That said, some of its aspects could be incorporated into other paragraphs.
  25. Hope is a solid CMO, always caring for the well being of medbay, and displays desirable characteristics for a command member. 1+ from me.
