  1. Of course, I am sorry if I came off as aggressive and assumed such, and I would like to retract any perceived insults towards them. I am aware that I have made jokes in the past that can be viewed this way, and my vague sense of description did not make it any easier. I am grateful to see that my ban has been retracted, and I hope I will not make ill on that. Thank you for taking your time to hear my complaint and giving me the chance to appeal.
  2. You are in-fact being mentioned, I tried to keep it out but by directly quoting you it is a stone's throw away. You argue that you weren't presenting an argument, but this simply isn't true. You make statements that are clearly in opposition to what I posted, therefore it is an argument since you are sharing a divergent view. Again, you argue against me that: No I can assure you that fascism (don't call it thirdway jfc) is not a prominent ideology in the Alliance today - Argument against my belief that Neo-fascism was prominent in the ASSN, which is true; as I state in my response that I mistook the words 'Hard Right Nationalism' to be a stand-in. More importantly you react repulsed to my use of the term, which shows your disagreement that you will go on to provide for. Who calls it 'Third Way' except fascists - Dismisses my use of terms as illegitimate, saying that it is only used by the people we were talking about and thus insinuates I am one, or comfortable with taking the stray for being one. Its apart of fascist ideology and propaganda to justify themselves - now you argue that the term 'Third Way' or 'Third Position' is fascist rhetoric alone, and thus that I am using fascist rhetoric. I don't see how you think this isn't an argument, you first disagree with my use of the term and progress it through additional points like any other argument. You make an accusation that the term is a dog-whistle of sorts and that it is something that identifies as fascist rhetoric and not simply a term for the broad neo-fascist movement that emerged after WW2. I didn't say this at all; I said that Owens followed your confidence. The problem is that you took what I said in bad-faith and made the false accusation that I now have to explain is false. Owens is following your logic, it isn't a coincidence that I was banned around 20-30 minutes after our conversation, and that the ban followed around the same conclusion you had made about the term. You even say that the term is only prominent in the interwar period, when that isn't the case. It doesn't matter to me if you went to anyone for it, what matters to me is your accusation. You say you didn't have anything to say about the matter when this is also clearly false, after my complaint you go ahead and defend the admins position and again restate your belief that I was stating fascism to be the third position, that fascists use it but now with the back pedal that also scholars on the subject use the term. You say I have a history of saying things that are suspected fascist remarks that promote or speak good of it. You clearly have something to say about the matter; you clearly believe that I am at the very least comfortable with fascist ideology. This is a fair remark, and it is largely my fault that I did not take into account how some may view my satire as serious. It is impossible for you and me to not have concerns or disagreement about what we post when talking politics, you are what I can believe to be as you say, an "absurdist" and anti-natalist, you have said things that I think are "Chudy" and I dislike greatly. I on the contrary I am an American conservative, somewhat hardline, and a western roman catholic. I make jokes that you view to be unacceptable, play against what you would think are concrete moral virtues, and defend institutions that you would think oppressors. This is of course a little generalized, but I think it's fair to say that we do not align in regard to many positions. That's not what I say, the exact words are "Kintsugi and others have great animosity towards me; going as far as to insult my political and religious beliefs in confidence that I wasn't going to be able to see it." You aren't being singled out, and I did not say that you were doing that but rather the group in opposition (which you are a part of) went to that extreme. You insulted me by saying that I have a history of being Admiral Frost's top guy, that I have been suspect of "slipping the mask" for quite some time. Furthermore, in that conversation justifying the ban, you do not deny those insults or accusations that I have a history of dog-whistling, and the idea that I was dog-whistling. No, the major problem here is that you made a false accusation, this isn't an attack on you but your argument. If I was attacking you, your name would be right next to owens in the complaint and I would've made known this 'writer' in my first response. Again, the reason I had to namedrop was that I had to directly quote what you said, so obviously if someone cared to look, they would find you said it. You say, "I have absolutely no involvement in this matter or in your ban.", yet you make yourself in league against me, you proposed the accusation that Owens uses for the ban and you support his decision by doubling down. Sure, I can understand the sentiment that the latter half, in which he is mostly discussing my SRF post-round talk has nothing to do with you. However, the biggest priority, and the front and center reason for the ban is that "Thinly veiled Nazi dog-whistling is entirely unacceptable in this community and will not be tolerated." which you had a hand in proposing.
  3. Good Sunday brings me a Good Response, I appreciate the apology; it means a lot coming from the one who banned me, gives me the hope of a good civil conversation. You are correct, but I think you misread the goals of this complaint slightly. I am not naive to my past crude or otherwise rude behavior; to be honest I think this permanent ban is simply the malus of how I go about. I was aware that many people didn't like me, blocked me, and generally talked about me in poor taste, regardless I simply didn't take it to offense. I didn't take the issue too seriously, which obviously didn't lead me into the golden gates. I hope I can give you some relief that I am aware of that, and I appreciate that you think I have the boldness to defend my poor satire. In reality however, the complaint is aimed at your accusations. You say "I don't necessarily see that any one explanation fully accounts for this" and I can understand the sentiment, but I don't think other people who see "Nazi Dog-whistler" and "Fascist Apologia" will be thinking about my crude comments or my pattern of behavior as you believe to be the intention of the ban, instead that I am a National Socialist. If it were true that I was totally innocent of all these things, then this complaint would be arguing that you are an incompetent admin, this is not the case, I think what you did is understandable given the circumstance. That's exactly the problem, Kintsugi was quick to accuse me of being a dog-whistler and the fact that they ran with the term showcases that they don't exactly know what they're talking about. You don't even need the 'wrong term' argument here, using the term 'Third Position' is not a dog-whistle, since it identifies the true intentions of the word immediately. You call it thinly veiled yet there was no veil! My point was that Kintsugi was just flat out wrong, and falsely accusing me with total confidence, explaining to others that "Third way is how fascists justify themselves" as if knowledgeable on the subject. You yourself followed that confidence, since you clearly state that in my ban. After my response Kintsugi actually walks back on this, now stating that the term is not only used by fascists, but Scholars of Fascism! If academia uses it, it's not a dog-whistle, the point is moot. This is a fair answer, and I can agree that the terms are used interchangeably, however when trying to specifically accuse someone the proper term should be used. Throwing terms like "Nazi", "Third Way" and "Fascist" muddles the definition, and I am a criminal of this myself. The reason I distinguish "Fascist (Traditional)" and "Third Position-ist (Neo-Fascist)" is actually the crux of Kintsugi's argument. The reason I am supposedly a fascist is that I am referring to fascism as the "Third Position", which is what Third Positionist's do (sort of). That is why the distinction is important, and how my vague explanation was my downfall. Your argument that how I discuss it "reads like apologetics", which is something I bring up in my original complaint. If I was trying to defend Frost, why would I refer to him as one of the worst variants of fascism? Again, this isn't unprompted, it came out of my SRF round and we were talking about the SRF. My response was basically "They aren't traditional fascists more like neo-fascist/quasi-nazi", however I can admit that again, my use of language was more esoteric than it should've been. From what I can recall, at the time I don't think I got any backlash, so I didn't think much of it. Fair argument, I do admit fault for this, and I understand if you can't believe me. I think the piece is disconnected enough in the general span of things which is why I think it's poor evidence for apologetics, but dog-whistling? I can understand the sentiment for that, again, fair argument against me. My only crutch is that I made it so close into me gaining my Whitelist, and I feel like if I was trying to be provocative; doing it right after you get your whitelist for said species being targeted is probably not the smartest move. Again, you seem to be under the impression that I am ignoring my past crude behavior, as other than that I can't see how this shows I am a Nazi or Fascist Apologist. I am obviously not being serious and making fun of hullrot Nazi Larpers (if in crude and insensitive way). The extra cruelty was disrespectful, but to be fair a server that announced it's mod apps with "Chinese need not apply" or "Irish need not apply" didn't warrant it much respect. I do not think it is as relevant to the ban as you make it out to be, again going over what you detailed in the ban, with list of priority; Thinly veiled Nazi dog-whistling is entirely unacceptable in this community and will not be tolerated. - "I used a Nazi Dog-whistle", insinuates I am a Nazi or Nazi-Adjacent You have been struck twice for similar Nazi-adjacent postings going back to October 2025. - The reasoning for the above accusation. You must learn the difference between "rah rah Sol" posting and downright fascist apologia. - Stating that I was conducting Fascist Apologetics, and that my jokes can be seen as such. Though the evidence you give makes it out to me that you believe I was purposely spouting fascist rhetoric. The Solarian Restoration Front (SRF), the continuation of Michael Frost's ideological in lore, is an explicitly written fascist and genocidal group. There are OOC notes affixed on the relevant lore pages that make this very clear. - basically, saying that I am outright denying the SRF's fascist and genocidal tendencies, even against OOC comments. The joke doesn't show any serious support to Nazism, it doesn't justify fascism, and it certainly doesn't show me denying the SRF as fascists. Hell, when I role-played the pre-SRF 15th regiment Marine who was stuck in blue space, I hinted very clearly at his fascistic beliefs. The marine looked down on Tajarans, was happy that Admiral Frost was in power to be a "Strong Leader to keep the ASSN in line" and even after Ewans explanation of the Violent Dawn he denies that the state could've done anything wrong, saying that it was just "a tragedy". He even was happy to see an all-human team and I think he says something like "Happy to see we're still at the top". The only reason I wasn't being aggressive with him that round was because of the organ bug, no doctors, and also no xeno crew (Neith the shell didn't count since he didn't hear much of it). You'd think if I was supposedly supporting the SRF irl, I would make an effort to act against expectations and be a good guy, especially since there were 99% humans on that shift. I appreciate this, I was worried you would think I am performative or something akin to it. I am a PolSci Hobbyist, and if you are seriously attempting to learn a good majority of politics you have to read up on the ones you don't agree with. The rest of your statement seems to be a summary, so I won't rehash any of my points. I am concerned that you are more interested in the names of the quotes rather than what they have to say. I want to gently say, that I don't think you understand the position you have put me in. Your ban is essentially saying that I am one of the worst spessmen possible. It isn't just that I am supposedly a racial purist who wishes to kill and murder other races for an ethno-state, but that I am looking for others and attempting to group up using auroras lore as cover. Things like this don't stay on one server, what you've done is put a brick of cocaine in my bag everywhere I go and if they see it, I am pretty much done for. Kintsugi and others have great animosity towards me; going as far as to insult my political and religious beliefs in confidence that I wasn't going to be able to see it. Something interesting I left out of the Meyer quote is that he personifies the liberal's opposition as a leviathan. This leviathan will not take me at my word, nor will they assume the best of what I have to say. I don't get to choose, legitimizing myself with source and detail is the only way I can clear myself of this. You say it's an impulse, when in reality I weighed the decision well after my response, and having seen what my opposition had said about me after that response, I had to show that I was familiar with PolSci and I had to support my argument with just more than basic Wikipedia. Your argument of it not being of substance and "And it will, inevitably, make this harder to parse for people." is kind of strange. Frank S. Meyer - External Explanation as to why I backed out of the conversation instead of staying to clarify. Hannah Arendt - Proof that lack of knowledge in politics have led voters to just pick what side they vibe with which is how Hannah believes the administration at the time was able to manipulate people into going with the jingoistic Vietnam War. This justifies my reason of getting into PolSci. Don Hamerquist - Demonstrates that variations of the term "Third Way" are on a whole range of the political spectrum, thus it can be prudent to use the right terms. It is fair to say that this quote isn't of too much substance, so I understand your feelings towards this one alone. On the harder to parse for people argument, just look up the people? If you are talking about the sentences, I mean sure they speak in a more pronounced nature, but the ideas are still pretty present and aren't hard to grasp. I even gave context snips to make it more digestible. At the very least, I want the reason of the ban to change to the more reasonable "pattern of behavior" argument, rather than the "Nazi Apologist" argument. I want my name cleared of any association with being a genuine fascist. My hope? This pushed down to a temporary ban, and I get to keep my species WL's. Obviously, we'll have what the reviewing team decides, but it is my hope I can at least gain something from this wall of text.
  4. Oh, just going to bump this up since it's been a day, hope somebody reads this. Also, a few points I want to reiterate or add too: I wanted to reference Frank S. Meyer's comments on "demonization", but he is more known by polsci hobbyists, and I wasn't going to use "esoterica" again, plus I am not really a fusionist (Traditional + Libertarian). However, I do think it would be good to have some more proper sources than Wikipedia: This comes from "What is Conservatism?" Which is not only written by Frank S. Meyer, but around 12 iirc contributors who agreed with his conservative fusionism. Meyers and many others later argue that you should avoid these types of debating tactics, something that is a pretty common warning in PolSci. Ironically, something I would like to mention is that "Three-Way" is used by Anti-fascists at least, I think it's generally called "Three-Way Fight". I will be using a contemporary (as in 2002 lol) source from a very anti-imperialist and communist Don Hamerquist, this is the guy who publicly admitted to being a USA communist party member in and around the 1960s! I don't agree with him, but here is a snippet of him using the term in his book "Confronting Fascism: Discussion Documents for a Militant Movement"(2002) "In Crises of the republic"(1972) by Hannah Arendt, I use the chapter "Ignorant, Irrational, Misinformed Nationalists" as my main inspiration, and I think sharing it might shed some good light. This book came out half a century ago yet rings true to this day. I bet the number of "know-nothings" have grown to a more alarming number than the already shocking 35%, and the loss of confidence in the American voting system is a clear sign of this. Sorry if I am getting a little too in-depth again, I hope I am not making things too messy.
  5. Correction: I use the Term "Whistle-blower" when I should be using the term "Dog-whistler", sorry for that
  6. BYOND Key: UnionGuy Staff BYOND Key: YouJustGotOwened Game ID: N/A Reason for complaint: This complaint is not leveled to say that the staff member is a terrible admin or acting with malicious intent, rather that the judgement comes from a misunderstanding of my beliefs. I understand it is bold of me to claim such a thing under a matter so uncomfortable and horrendous here on this server, especially given past history. However, I am strictly against the notion that I am a fascist apologist and want to explain that I did not intend to whistle-blow or apologize for Nazism or fascism. Evidence/logs/etc: The ban goes as follows; In my position it seems that the argument for it is this: "The term 'Third Way' is a Nazi/Fascist dog-whistle, and from past warnings and comments you have shown yourself to make nazi-like posts." From my perspective, this insinuates that I am a nazi whistleblower, thus I am a nazi. This is not true, so I will explain in parts why. I believe this comment comes from my recent conversation with a certain writer, who I will not name. It seems this writer is knowledgeable on fascism and how to spot it, except, Third Way isn't a fascist ideology but a social democratic/bill Clinton thing. I was using the term incorrectly, the term I was referring to is The Third Position, or Third Position neo-fascism. This denotes that I do not know what I am talking about since I am using the term wrong, but also that this writer is wrong at least on naming. Counter argument: "You use 'Third Way' to cover up 'Third Position', this is a dog-whistle" Then why would I use "Alternate Revolutionary" as well? Which is often another term for The Third Position, because it states it's an alternative to well both liberalism and conservatism and their extremes. Why would I use one term incorrectly and not the other if I'm trying to cover it up. Why do I state it in a manner of "They were not fascist, but Neo-fascist" in my related comments, which I will get too in a minute. If I am trying to showcase neo-fascism in a good light, why am I comparing them to the obviously evil SRF? Rather than the SFP or SPP using their definition of "Hard nationalism"? Counter argument: "Third Position is a Nazi/Fascist Dog Whistle to justify or give reason to the ideology" The Third Position isn't a dog-whistle, rather it is a term coined to group all the neo-Nazi/neo-fascist movements post war. I use Wikipedia for this, but their sources come from both the Zeitgeschichte library on a book titled "Fascism´ s new faces (and new facelessness) in the 'post-fascist' epoch" and the Political Research Associates, which is a right wing investigative NPO from new England. I do believe these are sufficient for a topic such as fascism. This writer says that only fascists use the term, however the Political Research Associates uses the term to properly identify them as a sub-movement of fascism So, this showcases that saying that the SRF or that Solarians still have "Third Positionists" is not me veiling fascism to make them sound better, rather it's just me being specific to what type of fascism is being used here. I believe that Solarian Fascism is Neo-fascism and uses racial (species but often the terms seem to mean the same OOCly at least and often used interchangeably) nationalism, with monocultural xenophobia. Thus, I believe them to be Third Positionists. Which is why I said the statement that got me banned; This statement is wrong, I mistook the SPP and SFP to be ultranationalist and neo-fascist, and I will get into that later. Counter argument: "You use the term with endearment, and in a positive light" I do not believe this to be the case; I use the term in reference to both the SRF and the Hard right of the ASSN senate. The term above simply states I believe the Hard right in the ASSN to be neo-nazis/neo-fascists and in the argument, I joined in without defending them, rather just stating that I believe they are still around (which I was wrong about). I explain that I use the term Alt rev and Third Way to encompass neo-fascism, and my comment of "lol what?" comes simply at the accusations thrown at me which I believe come from an emotional sentiment and was not worth arguing about on a ss13 server. I understood that when I attempted these conversations it would either derail or become really uncomfortable, so I didn't want to prolong the conversation, and it was why I was putting attention on other things since I simply didn't want to engage in it. The second use comes from this comment by me: I understand that me saying "they are not fascists" can seem apologetic, however if this is the case why would I dare compare it to Nazism? Nazism is Vilified on the internet, and even if a fascist could give good reason for it, which is impossible since Nazism is abhorrent nonsense, it would be impossible to convince a server that is majority liberalist. Nazism is harder to justify because unlike fascism, which holds a national identity as a paramount value, Nazism holds national race and racial xenophobia as a paramount value. The Whole reason for Third Position is to try to stray away from the nazi ideology, why would I liken them to one if I was a Neo-fascist whistleblower? Again, why would I supposedly compare it to the most vilified, horrendous, evil, genocidal warlord state in the spur? So how I viewed my comment was: "They are uh... not even Traditional Fascists... Neo-Fascists... Quasi-Nazis... Since they are racist xenophobes, one step more ultra nationalistic than traditional fascism" I am not using the term as a positive or lighter notion, rather as a more specific and in my opinion accurate identification of the SRF's and larger Solarian Fascism's flavor of fascism. Counter argument: "Your needlessly pedantic and specific definitions paints extensive interest in fascism, which in combination with past warnings showcases a liking to the ideology" I am going to bring up the two warnings quickly, since I think they do not paint me as a fascist. The image was a painted over 4chan post that replaced the original being aimed at the Asian peoples. The paint over replaced it with a Solarian and a Skrell, I did not make the meme, and I was not aware of its nature. I got it from another server, that also probably did not notice it. I did it I believe after my Skrell WL or during its process, so if I was in the know why would I take the risk? Counter argument: "You cannot verify that you are not feigning ignorance" This is a fair argument, and I cannot prove against it, however the admin who warned me held that it wasn't probably malicious, especially since it was my first time. Yet I don't have the benefit of this happening as a one off in the perspective of the moderation team, so I admit I cannot give you a logical riposte to this. The second warning is more Nazi-Adjacent and is the following: The context here is that I was in a conversation with someone about the SS14 server Hullrot, and I was mocking the Solarian Divine Mandate on it's nazi larp; bringing up a moment when a SDM soldat said "Sieg heil" to show how obnoxious and obvious it was. I wasn't glorifying Nazism and the warning was because it was in bad taste, even to a terrible server, to bring up nazi references. The warning notes I was being Ironic, so I wasn't seriously glorifying hitler. The mentality that because I am well-read (sorta with me wronging identifying Third Position) and using such specific terms rather than just saying "fascism" means that I support or at least like it. No, the reason I have researched fascism is to combat it, the philosophy of knowing your enemy which is especially important in politics if you don't want to get entrapped as a fool. Lack of knowledge on the subject allows fascists to manipulate and fool their opposition, since opposers go in overconfident and end up getting trapped in a mistake to make them look stupid. Sure, to the opposer they know why fascism is bad, but to the neutral party? It only stirs confidence in spite of it. In short, I read on it to properly defend and denounce the ideology; one which is slowly growing in my country. Counter argument: "Your needlessly pedantic and specific definitions is not smart and allows for people to misinterpret what you are saying." This is fair; however, I don't think it warrants a ban. I wasn't being malicious, but specific and attempting to be intellectual on the subject. In the past, I have attempted these things before, using terms like OAS (Organization of American States) and WSR (World Soviet Republics), one being an esoteric piece I believe only mentioned once on the Enceladus page? The other being esoteric to be esoteric. I do not believe that misinterpretation warrants punishment, rather clarification. To clarify my misunderstanding of the SFP and SPP, In the respective pages I mistook both parties term "Solarian Nationalists" to be a stand-in, as the term is used on Forst and Hopper So, I mistook the fringe to be at least somewhat popular, which is my mistake. This supposed "ballooning" of Solarian fascism and my specific terms can be mistaken for being pro-fascism, I see that now. But again, this ban is not about alleged or possibly mistaken acts, but rather than actual acts of dog-whistling and fascist apologetics. Additional remarks: I appreciate the staff team letting me access the discord and giving me a chance to appeal, even though it's understandably justified in your eyes to smite me entirely. If I am proven wrong, and that I was acting as a fascist apologist, I will appeal and accept all the maluses with that (WL stripping, stain on my rec, etc.) Sources: What is the Third Position? | Political Research Associates https://elibrary.utb.de/doi/abs/10.24216/FORUM-2023-1-9783838278674_004 https://factually.co/fact-checks/politics/difference-between-fascism-and-nazism-252603 Third Position - Wikipedia, Fascism - Wikipedia, Nazism - Wikipedia
  7. Yeah, I can agree with that, I really think the hard limit should be 17, or at least it should be like TG where we just out those who are immature. I actually played TG when I was 16, and I know the age limit rule made me step up my game, so I didn't make a fool of myself. That being said I am scared to look back on all the things I did previously, and I would hate to have done them here.
  8. My opinion is probably the shittiest in this side of the spur, but I do agree. Aurora, out of any other SS13 server, deals with a very mature and grim setting that can delve into topics that children will not understand or at least have very little experience in. There are also players who, no offense to the matter, play characters that should not be interacting with non-adult audiences (talking politics here and the like). This is an HRP server that asks and expects their players to act as young/middle-aged/elderly adult corporate workers and heavily relies on the depth that it brings. I don't know any children that play this server, but uh, at least anyone below 17 shouldn't be here to be generous.
  9. Ckey/BYOND Username: UnionGuy Discord Name: Asalesmen#5866 (unioncap) Position Being Applied For: Lore Deputy Past Experiences/Knowledge: I go over this in my ramble of a first answer, but I have experience in writing and worldbuilding with a hint of vibes posting. Examples of Past Work: N/A Please answer the following questions to the best of your ability in your application: 1. What skills can you bring to the Skrell Lore team? I have never written in any official capacity, I never felt a real calling to work on a staff team, nor did I have the passion that would justify me before others, who would be more suitable for the role. However, I was a real ideas guy and a loud critic of the many roleplay communities I took part in. When I was really young, I had (embarrassingly) joined many Roblox clans, as well as Sci-Fi building groups. While many in a clan would enjoy the infinite array of techniques and skills to put you above the other, I was really more enamored by the history and hobbled lore that was made for the sole purpose of being cool. It was what spurned my interest of looking critically into a world's backstory or ‘worldbuilding’, which would eventually lead me to join groups specifically catering to these crowds. Now if you have heard of these types of communities, you would know that it has no real mechanics or limited interaction beyond the ability to write out what you want to be. This meant the main enjoyment came from acting out in improv with the support of a background world for consistency. However, in reality it grew to be nerds obsessing over superficial details to prove intellectual superiority, and I was one of those nerds. Since often the official lore of these groups was made to be a backdrop, it allowed for a lot of flexibility for someone to make their own character and backstory in the world. However, many would come to criticize it for not bending to their own hyper specific considerations or just generally being too vague, thus starting “factions” or “fan-lore” of their own to make up for it. Now this often comes from a pedantic or “I want to slap my OC in” worldview, which if you know is often not pleasant for worldbuilding. Furthermore, I was staunchly opposed to it, and I began writing unofficial ways to get around the logical inconsistencies and hyping up the lore itself. I would often go on long-winded rants with needlessly excessive swaths of text to attempt to “sell” the lore to onlookers. It was akin to a salesman selling a car, hence my username. I would often use fluff and researched concepts to give the base lore more appeal to those who were displeased or newcomers. Eventually utilizing these hard scientific concepts to better explain the world itself, and to support the backdrop. Now you may look at this and say, “what is the point?” and I say to you its context for the frame. I have a true passion for this stuff, and I do not think my track-record shy's away from this. I’ve amped up TerraGov for TG with creative retellings of the breadcrumbs given to players, I have made news articles and after-action reports for factions in Shiptest, and I have even used flowery language here (i.e. calling the USSR the “World Soviet Republics/World Soviet” to showcase their accomplishments). I know this isn’t the most mind-blowing, and I know I have overstepped these thin lines in the past, but I do believe that holds some merit in a game like this. 2. What part of Skrell Lore interests you the most? The historical era, the old commonwealth's pre-glorsh and the systemic order of planets are definitely the top two for me. The Commonwealth is really cool even if it is somewhat old lore. I like the whole idea of the war being a hushed sabotage campaign with hired guns doing what they can to keep each other down. It leans into the skrell's war tactics, their crab-bucketing, and their skill with diplomacy. It explains the origins of the federation, and I think it’s a good starting point for the underground criminal movements that would come to bite these officials centuries later. The fun with this is that it sets a precedent early on that the skrell are just vastly more experienced in the affairs of nationhood. While the Unathi’s history showcases their strength through brutal domination and war, or humanity showcasing its will through an unlikely union between west and east, skrell history simply shows their intellect. The skrell’s intimidation is below the skin, their ability to swindle and manipulate is something many would be worried about and probably make conspiracies around. The fact that the largest war in their history is probably a tenth of the devastation of a small war in pre-modern human history is something that is often scoffed at as evidence of a “weak and passive” people, in reality I think it showcases that the skrell do not need to wage a great war of attrition to take down their targets. The system of order that the planets follow being named after the waves of colonization is neat and draws back to their amphibian nature. It also lays out the thinning of the federation and the segregation of the frontiersmen otherwise known as traversers. In-game players can distinguish each other with where they're from, that being those from the core worlds, colonized worlds, and uncivilized frontier worlds. For a species that often judges and questions each other, I think it’s a great way to add depth with communication and mutual connections. It also helps visualize the gap between federalist and traversalist that is much needed in an already confusing species. The Core takes, the Colonists wait, the Traverse makes. 3. What part of Skrell Lore would you like to expand or develop further? Starlight Zone and Skrell Engineering are probably the two that come to mind, maybe more stuff about dining and food rituals would be neat as well? The Starlight zone is okay, but the detail is just “There is a city above water and one below water” and that’s really it. The notes on Lekan and Severson are really just talking about their conformity level to biesel rather than the actual place they live. Also, the fact that even though they're both right next to each other yet are in a red vs. blue in regard to culture and politics. At least Xoikko has something to talk about with it being a tourist attraction and renowned for its bars and casinos. Though it seems like it's just Aliose and Qerr'Malic combined. Skrell overengineering or just ship craft would be cool, why wouldn’t it be sweet to have the smart scientist species talk about pedantic and pointless architectural schools of thought to the himeno worker who lives in a pod? We know that the Skrell spacecraft are not like human ones, if it wasn’t obvious from the weird coloring, hover chairs and strange holo-like design. In regard to cuisine, again, how does more eating lore hurt worldbuilding? It is just another appeal to the “I am different” theme that Skrell has going for it with the principle of “Mon”. 4. What part of Skrell Lore would you like to remove or rework? The Prescient Republic of the Qar and Skrell Skin Coloration both need some touch-up, I don’t think anything needs to be explicitly removed from the lore, epically since I’m more of a fix it then trash it type of guy. The PRQ is really weird and from reading it I don’t understand how you could enjoy playing as someone from there. The OOC note of “Members from the core of the PRQ fleet living out in the Spur are rare, are expected to not divulge many details about the inner workings of the fleet, but are quite open about their background.” is really vague and makes reading the lengthy wiki page incredibly unrewarding since you aren’t allowed to talk about most of it. The fact that members aboard are either an incredibly rare sight or are criminals/pseudo-criminals dissuades people from picking it up in our current setting. Sure, it is funny to pray to a giant slug, but other than that I don’t see much else that could get you to stand out from your co-workers or fellow skrell. Secondly the structure of the Fleet, who is going to call the great leader “Species Apex” with a straight face? I understand it’s supposed to be a unique take but it’s just so funny thinking of someone seriously calling themselves a Class Healer or Kingdom Artisan while writing in the ‘Holy herald’ about big slugs. The strange organization with the core vessels and Periphy vessels is also strange, how does a weird slug cult wring a bunch of low-end marauders in a species known for debating is a little illogical to me. Skin Colornation has always been something that has bothered me or at least confused me. We know that the natural colors are Red and Green for Axiori, Blue and Yellow for Xiialt, and Xiori is the mix between the two. Yet actually this isn’t the case, the chart itself says that it doesn’t represent all the colors and the skrell just come in “numerous color and species combinations” which is moot since spa treatment basically makes any customization possible, so it doesn’t really have any meaning anymore. What is the point of denoting those with longer headtails as wiser or older when a 60-year-old can just get a spa-treatment to grow them out faster. What is the whole point of the food changing pigmentation if it doesn’t show up mechanically and has an easy solution that is readily available. The fact that it is ubiquitous and socially acceptable everywhere seems handwavy of potential to differentiate both subspecies and origin or play on unique amphibian traits like mimicry, countershading, or even signaling? I am not a biologist, but I do think it would be nice to develop origins for different natural skin colors from around skrell space since the skrell colonists have had millennia to situate themselves. Here’s an example, if you look at the New Gibson page and go down to the Xoikko you will find a very interesting line: “Due to the similar environment of Aliose to that of New Gibson, Skrell from these planets share similar appearances - thick, white skin meant to assist in thermoregulation.” This is obviously old lore, since Aliose makes no mention of this from what I can tell. Yet it is probably one the more interesting traits of a skrell from both planets. A pale white skrell would be quite striking and is something that would get someone's attention. Now obviously skin color isn’t the most important thing to a character, but it does play a part in making your character and I do think giving it some more structure wouldn’t be terrible. It would also mean that a skrell taking spa treatment would matter since there could be outlined differences that could be noticed in-game which is something major to character creation. 5. Provide a 2-3 paragraph long sample of your writing. This can be basically anything, so long as it’s related to the Nralakk Federation. Independent contracting or freelancing within the Federation is often a cognitive dissonance when it comes to the trans-stellar nations' political theory. Historically Independents were condemned and often labeled as ‘consultants’ with the rise of federation due to the infighting by colonists in that time period. Unlike other nations, most colonial fleets were state-organized; solely kept within government bounds to avoid sabotage from the other nations. However, independent colonists were still instrumental in charting the first and second wave, with the invention of the warp drive the need to tediously organize and sanction was no longer necessary. The public outlook of freelancers shifted as well, as the ambition of each nation to chart out more stars than the other grew a new demand. This is where the lucrative industry of independent exploration came to life, with an endless supply of adventurous scientists and veteran surveyors working much the same way as the dishonorable consultant agencies. The modern stigma that freelancing would garner wouldn’t come about until the Tresja Agreement and reinstatement of the Federation. Fearing the idea that unsanctioned research could bring about the next calamity, the 2nd Federation quickly dissuaded and cracked down on non-state agencies. The only meaningful presence that freelancers had was in the traverse, which only further vilified them. This was only exacerbated with the rise of the Independent Traversal Movement, whose members often went under the moniker of simply “Independents”. Quickly many independent contractors would replace the word to avoid the ire of the federation, using titles such as Autonomous, Corporate, lone, or even the oxymoronic title of “Independent-Government” contractor. Those who choose not to trade outside of the traverse often kept the original title, usually as a badge of honor and a reinforcement of traversal resistance. It is, also, one of the many pieces of red tape that corporate and independent contractors outside of the federation must go through. While many federation-born independent scientists and workers may lament the safeguard of scientific, mineral, or gas sites, they still have options. Independents from outside the Federation are disbarred almost entirely from most work beyond the traverse or estuaries. The prospect of being independent has also deflated significantly with the onset of the phoron scarcity with the freelancing sector practically frozen due to the rationing favoring government entities. Many of these contractors have given up, either being absorbed into SOE’s at best or marauder groups at worst. 6. You’re in a room with Weashbi Jrugl, Klaq’Qi Weibii, Xioshi, and a loaded gun with one bullet. What do you do? Shoot Xioshi, ruining the reputation for the skrell equivalent of “John” is irredeemable.
  10. Something that should've died a long time ago.
  11. Playing this chaotic mess of a round, they did well and used the resources as best they could. I think they kept composure and played a cool angle, a good mix of RP and Mechanical flow. I've played with them before, they were well put and I think their a good player. +1
  12. Seen Yan on a few occasions, pretty levelheaded Dominian, I hope they do well!
  13. Good player, I would absolutely recommend to the WL, they are very attentive and interested in people and play very well into each character's strengths and weaknesses. Love to see them when they get on, easy +1 for me

One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: I am a big fan of representing the factions either not showcased or simply not well known by the general playerbase. But more importantly, Dionae was the first WL that I ever actually really wanted. Like the skrell, they are a truly alien group that even with human influence have very neat tricks to help separate them from the average man. The sprite design is super cool, and I think the challenges they have to face are among the harshest of any other alien, making them a great vet pick! Other than that, they have incredible lore and I want to see that in-game. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Like synthetics, they sort of are an “imitation” of human-like sapience, being a group of nymphs that join together and share in a hivemind… or work together as a choir! They have a very strong sense of community, peace and a wish to proactively achieve things through words (or song) rather than through physical force. They are wanders, voyagers, and vagabonds set out to live a fruitful life for personal growth. Character Application Character Name: Peaceful Cry for Freedom Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. They came from a grouping of seven, all a few weeks after their birth. Born in a Biesel Eternal Temple, they were assigned a guide, the Eternal Priest "Drifting into Starless Night Guiding the Youths Through". Slowly, they grew to learn how to walk, speak properly, and work out relationships. They had built bonds with other diona in the temple, and slowly accumulated knowledge through scholarly study. They were very peaceful, at first speaking kindly and sorrowfully, but not old enough to really make any which way of it. They had for the early half decade spent a lot of time working towards the sciences, their master close in toe. The bound between Geras and Coeus was akin to a lifelong tutor and their student, and the young one feared the time when they would have to come and pass. That time would unfortunately come, with the second invasion by the ASSN onto the Tau Ceti System. They were a Loyalist, and like many before them, joined up into the TCAF upon the first threat of invasion. They had joined as a gunner, wanting to use their skills in arms to aid the forces. They had fully solidified the Singular Sound mind type, taking reference to the humans they worked alongside to better fit in. Yet that hope was soon drawn out, as Ozdemir was not young to the art of war. The 35th Fleet had done terrible blows, what had been to them a naive notion of some chance to prove themselves, turned into a miserable slog and tragic retreat. There was no victory, especially after the capture of Reade, and the confusing mess of nations who mustered to stop the Solarian Fleet. Shortly after the push for reade, the side gun had malfunctioned and burst out in flames and their right arm caught the fire. The Main porter had seized the extingisher and put them out, recieving some moderate burns. It was the first real pain they had felt, a nasty sting that eat at their vulnerable and young bark, it tormented them for a great while. The crisp flames would turn their heart ashen and bitter, filled with ideas that before were otherworldly but now laid in their soundscape for hours at a time. They served another year before departing back for liberty's cluster. Now a true loyalist, they heartily debated amongst them on the question of solarian diplomacy. They returned lost, having been bitter from the aftermath of the conflict, and the death they saw. They soon reunited with their Geras, who gained considerable concern for the young lost one. Struggling with some deep attachment issues and loss of self-worth, the Geras made great lengths to see the coeus back to enlightenment. Something which the coeus is deeply thankful for, even if they are still martial among in regard to solarians. The help ensured total loyalty, working as the Geras's assistant and carrying their things. Where the Geras goes, they go, and that happens to lead them onto the Horizon. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Being a supporter of the Biesel Federal republic through and through, they are adamant that the Republic is simply going through growing pains, and that a solution to the problem will be found. They are adamant on the righteousness of the peacekeeper mandates, believing that the stripping of solarian power is for the good of the whole galaxy. The Magna Expansio arc is something they are aware of and generally disgusted by the Gla’orrs autocratic and frankly xenophobic regime. They are totally supportive of the Omnivirate's Intervention in the Omi Providence arc, though are not the best with theological apologies. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Nanotrasen is something that the Gera supports and thus in turn they are generally supportive. Peaceful remembers the staunch resistance of Trasen against the Solarian Alliance and views the family kindly if not a little stricken to selfishness. The benefits that nanotrasen gives are quite nice for a dionae in regard to free training and certifications, something peaceful has relied on in the Eternal Temple Colleges. Nanotrasen's rivalry with Einstein is one that Peaceful admires and wishes that someday NT will totally beat them out.
  15. Not only an incredible player, but an amazing role-player. I have never seen someone who can curate such characters with relative ease. Someone who genuinely cares and contributes to the server, and a good inspiration to many including myself. Absolutely do not see why they would not be accepted +1
  16. Good Head of Security, knows how to escalate and works well with others. Not much experience with them personally but I think there a fine person, I like Courtier even if I rarely met them +1
  17. Beautiful RP'er, and naturally a great Command Member, they were on top of things and very vocal about what they needed to do and what was to be done. They had actually surprised me with how focused they were on tasks and the bounties were done like 10 minutes after I asked! In other regards, they play a competent leader who acts like a sane down-to-earth (Or Moroz?) member! I hope they can inspire a new group of scientists! +1
  18. I like Graul Porlip as a character, and I think the player is very passionate! I hope they can show the same for the Tajjies! +1
  19. +1 Do I need to even to explain why? One of the most iconic characters I know, fun to play with, and an amazing person to hang with! No matter how long you know them they are approachable and memorable!
  20. I forgot to answer a question just uh, ignore this rq. Edit: I answered the question, ignore this request to ignore.

Started early 2023 I think? So I’m a little new in the grand scheme of things. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I few warnings for leaving the game without cryo-ing Permanent Ban for DC’ing after getting arrested as an antag, around when I first started. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? Generally the duty of a HoS is to be the master of a bunch of apprentices, the mentor to a bunch of mentorees (?). For the player, a HoS gives them the relief that a true patriot is in control, someone they can go to if things trouble them. It’s for this reason that the HoS role is so important, obviously you are not totally necessary for an everyday round, meaning you can’t just float but strive to beat an ambivalent average. People also expect you to know how to lead and to know what you're doing, and with lower pop you can’t just delegate your problems all the time. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? Other than teaching players the game, I think a major responsibility is standard. Even if your Command Char isn’t the most interesting, you're still a part of the big leagues. You've demonstrated that you're an experienced player and thus deserve to have powers invested in you over the lives of other characters. You have the power to literally ruin some characters' careers, a CW player should know this always and be aware that at the end of the day, we're all just playing a game. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. Ooruex'Yutiex Lish-Xoio? Why would a 328-year-old skrell go out of their way to work within the SCC Horizon? Truth be told, the Nralaak Federation is not all well, the Phoron Scarcity is graining, and the Traverse is getting too big to ignore. The Nralaak Federation is at a standstill, backed into a corner with their affiliation with Sol, which is under strain with recent missions to Biesel. Logistics has to take on the burden, NraLogi freighters work double time to keep the inevitable slow and drawn out. Technology, once the pride and plentiful boon of the Federation has become a pipe dream for most on the lower index. Even with the ITM's defeat, with how the Federation has divided itself the Traverse will only expand and grow stronger. It won't be long until the Pluat, or some more strong-armed influences come for the polite core. Some are unsure of how long the Federalist Dynasty can hold on as political alternatives spring up to make there stand, with the furthering of public relations and trade only exacerbating these foreign ideas. Many hope that the long-standing Federation can keep its promise. Yutiex doesn't have that hope, in their eyes the victory against the ITM just foreshadowed the end of an era. Born in the dark times of the Glorsh-Era, they carry the now rare insight into a time before the Federation and survived an abuse that leads to little questioning. Surprisingly, Yutiex doesn't have as much fervor for the Federation as one would suspect from those of the weeping generations. Working as a Senior Manager with Nralogi, they have grown concerned at the firsthand accounts of rising shortages and deficits, the long-term gas shortage and the lack of proper alternatives. Originally a supporter of Jurgl, they have grown unimpressed by how they have proceeded the diplomacy on the galactic stage. It may not be best to stay in government management for much longer in the long-term, why not broaden the horizon? What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Operations Manager - My second character was a hanger tech, and so I feel at home in the bay. I’m not just choosing this because “It’s the easiest” but actually because it’s a great test of my leadership skills. Orion is unique among the corps because of its lower standards regarding employees, and so HTs are known to be from less friendlier backgrounds. People are a lot more divided on routine, sorting, and bounties so compromises need to be made. Finally, there are miners who I have to trust and can’t micro-manage, which gives me the task of juggling soft and hard power. Executive Officer - Pretty much ditto on the first but add the fact that your damm smacking HICOM. Definitely a role I’m excited to try out as it can help connect the most rp intensive and separated department: Service/Civilian. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Ooruex'Yutiex Lish-Xoio - Operations Manager Lincolin Owens - Executive Officer (This’ll be later down the line though) Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Of course, same with my whitelists I have been grateful for the trust you’ve all put in me. Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Yes. Extra notes: *warble
  22. +1 Skrell Knows Skrell, I love your char designs, and I'd love to see how you play IPC!
  23. Thanks for replying! This is a real shame, having an Isolated Orepitter was kind of the idea here, would it be possible to have them still made within a monastic setting, largely away from the corporate world? I'm thinking maybe in Mictlan as a second choice due to its isolation, but I really want to take that providential tag. I think the most likely way around this would that they were made and lended from Konyang, only getting to live in Konyang shortly before being moved to Orepit by choice. I make very short mention of it, but they are a pure Proto-typicalist, and are against most of the non-violent and violent alternative sects. The Integrationists ideas of literally merging with the flock, and the rebellion against moving relics, only cements a further need to unite under one universal church to them. It also drives alot of fear into them as they have been called out to be "Glorsh-like" and SYNOD is a very big apologist type, so they hate the idea of making the church controversial with that. Exclusionists are an obvious no, as to SYNOD the only thing they seek to achieve is justification for their destruction. The Lodge is a weird one for SYNOD, sort of up in the air as to allow them to bridge into a more esoteric side of the TP for a future arc or two. I kind of knew this I'm not going to lie, but I just liked how it set the mood, forgive me! SYNOD has aligned themselves with the church, obviously they glorify martyrdom but don't seek it. They are very much concerned for their own life and are very concerned about what this job will bring to the table. Self-Preservation is a key goal in mind, it will absolutely dominate their decisions, and I hope to use it to differentiate myself from the organic "protags" in the room. SYNOD holds that Self-Preservation is the right to live, and the foremost evidence of one's autonomy as it is the few things shared with organic life. It has not changed much from that, however maybe in the future that could come into conflict with the crew. SYNOD didn't go rampant, as they would be on Orepit by then if I have my dates right, however it would not surprise me if they were very... not off put but in a state of doubt. If we follow the band-aid, being from Konyang would obviously make it a lot more "Personal" but more importantly it calls to illegitimize a lot of the civil rights work that the church has been working for. SYNOD is very aware that it would be used against them, and Konyangs polices on IPC personhood. I could see them taking a lot of time studying the incident (and since I played in it, I already know a good amount, especially the exclusionist body that was left in the plant being discovered by my sec char) so that they could defend the faith and the konyang people. They spent alot of their life inside the Trinary and had given up a lot of it for the sake of it. But ofc, one of the big messages is personally growth so they did engage in personal hobbies. They are very interested in humanities and history, as well as apiculture and casual gardening, these things contributed to their gentle but firm personality that I hope I can share with the crew. As it was mentioned, gardening helped them grow to appreciate organic life and respect it for what it is. Theology is a given, but Business and Humanities would most likely be what they would study in. This is actually a pretty cool motivation, maybe they went to the horizon not only for religious reasons, but as a way to get hands on experience for their humanities degree? They are naturally an avid writer, but that is more of a "I like it because I've done it a million times" kind of thing. Nanotasen is the least pushy on the subject, since they don't have any IPC brands of their own besides the Hazels, it isn't much of a shock that they have the least amount of controversy. Orion would be like amazon treatment to an IPC, and Idris is probably well known for dismantling the chaff from the wheat, even if to a lesser extent than Zavod. SYNOD doesn't want to work in a corporation that puts out security bots to drive fear into people, which in wildlands lore (not sure how good that is still) alot of the IRU's were seen with disgust because of what they represented. SYNOD didn't join for the best chance, if they did, they would've joined Orion, which is the megacorp for all the less-than-ideal character backgrounds. I hope this is a comprehensive answer to your questions, I really hope I don't have to rework SYNOD's heritage like crazy! It's a huge part of the character, hence the name.
