  1. Probably my oldest character that's still alive (RIP Kix). Just interested to see what people think of her.
  2. Please hold, I'll check this in a minute and edit this post afterwards. I do like the look of that. Perhaps even bringing it half way so not as far as the shells we had before, but sort of like this suggests. I'd happily play an android that looked like that. (Maybe less creepy though)
  3. Reporting Personnel: Akela Ha'kim Rank of Reporting Personnel: Chief Engineer Personnel Involved: Theodore Brown, Sinead Time of Incident: Real time: 20:45 GMT 20/02/16 Location of Incident: Departures Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment [x]Assault []Misconduct [x]Racism Overview of the Incident: She was heading to departures after her shift as she normally does when a Theodore Brown (who was the librarian) came up to her and said "Sup Doggie". In a state of confusion about the comment directed at her she simply replied with "She is not a dog." to which Mr Brown replied with "You fucking look like one you subspecies". Akela didn't really react to this, she simply chuckled to herself slightly amused by the strange comment. Mr Brown then threw a cigarette butt at her which she also ignored. At this point Sinead came into the departures. A few comments later involving the words 'subspecies' and 'dog' Mr Brown then yelled at her asking what she is doing on the station to which she replied that she was here for the same reason as him (working). He then ran over to her demanding she go back to her planet. Akela is not sure what she said but it is at this point Mr Brown started yelling at her and asking if she "wants to go?". Akela naturally picked out her flash from her pocket which Mr Brown tried to knock out of her hand. She then reacted and pushed Mr Brown lightly off balance and he fell straight to the ground. After he had picked himself up, he retrieved a hatchet from his backpack and started approaching her again. Akela then proceeded to flash Mr Brown, retrieve the hatchet and call security over general communications. Before security had arrived, Mr Brown picked himself up then punched Akela in the face knocking her to the ground which left her with a black eye. Sinead then flashed Mr Brown and security detained him. If not for Sinead's involvement toward the end of the incident, Akela thinks that she would have been seriously injured and / or killed. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: There was no IAA present at the time. Additional notes:

  5. Due to a recent round where my CE spent 90% of round trying to restore communications from a badly beaten satellite (as well as trying to fix the SM engine and stop it exploding), it got me thinking about how the Keycard Authentication Device actually communicates with Central command. Code wise they pretty much just trigger ERT and send in a response team without and relay through the satellite however, I would assume lore wise they would have to relay their message through the satellite unless there is some other method in which they communicate a message to Central Command. I was wondering if it could be (or already has been?) clarified on how exactly they communicate with Central as this would clear up a headache I had with a persistent Central Command trying to get a report from the station during the Comms blackout. Also, this begs the question on whether the station would actually receive the communications from Central command as the satellite was pretty much out of order. Edit: Another thing to note in game mechanics is the emergency message button not working when the satellite is down, I would assume that the fax machines would work on the same idea.
  6. I bid you welcome my friend to this house of learning, aka the engine room. This guide will show you the ways of the supermatter and how to set it up with efficiency! "But.. I like the singularity engine better" I hear you say. Well! After the secrets hidden within this guide are discovered you may find yourself loving supermatter a whole lot more. After all, if it isn't super.. it really doesn't matterâ„¢. I will be using an imgur album I created so if you would like to follow along in more detail, here is a link http://imgur.com/a/RQltA "Hello everyone, this is your friendly learning robot T.E.S.T! Today I will be showing you the art of supermatter." "This is the layout we're aiming for today, as you can see there are quite a few components in the supermatter setup. If you cannot see the entire image don't worry, just download it using this link to your NT provided PDA (( http://imgur.com/oTidQLn ))." "Supermatter generates power by using TEGs or Thermal Electric Generators. I am currently standing behind one now. If we look at the panel we can see all the different datasets surrounding TEG operation, or in laymans terms the flashy flashy numbery things that do stuff. TEGs generate power by temperature differentials, the left turbine in this case will have hot gas flowing through and the right turbine will have cold (colder) gas flowing through. The heat from the left turbine will be transferred to the right turbine during operation. Another factor of TEGs is flow! Without any gas flow, the TEG will do nothing.. but more on that later." "First things first! We need to put our gases in the hot and cold loops. For this setup I will be using Carbon Dioxide for our hot loop and plasma for our cold loop. The hot loop's gas will be heated directly by the supermatter, whereas the cold loop's gas will be isolated from the supermatter and cooled by space. So as you can see in the provided image, we have two canisters of each gas in their respective loops with the pumps turned to max." "Next up is setting the flow pump for our cold loop. Without this the gas will sit still and not help us in anyway.. so simply turn on the pump and slap it into max setting." "Filters! These are very important as they remove the waste gas from the supermatter chamber (aka the hot loop). In this case we want to remove the byproduct oxygen as bad things can happen if we allow the oxygen to build up in the chamber. Bad things include reaction acceleration, explosions and radiation! The top filter's output we want to go south and the bottom filter's output we want to go north, this makes sure the gas we still want in the hot loop doesn't get filtered into the waste canister." "Speaking of waste canisters.. we need to set that up now. Press the little shutter button on the wall and drag in some form of canister, be it nitrogen or plasma and set that down on the waste gas cooling port. The purpose of this little cooling station is to reduce the hot waste gas's temperature so we can store more of it in our waste gas canister, which we will need to setup next..." "Set down an empty canister on the shown port and set the pump to on and max, the gas will be cooled and stored in this section of pipe and the canister we put down." "After all this preperation it's finally time to start up the supermatter! Head over to the emitter, raise the shutters (if they are down) and give the thing about 9 shots of lasery goodness. The supermatter reaction will start now!" "Head over to the control room and watch as the temperature slowly increases, congradulations, we now have power! Keep an eye on the value every ten or so minutes to make sure there's nothing gone horribly wrong. The temperature should not exceed 4000 kelvin with this setup." "No we have the supermatter going we have to setup some SMES, or our station peeps will not be very happy. Head over to the engine room SMES and set the values. We can either go 200k in / out or 100k in / out. The choice is yours!" "Similarly we have to head over to the main station SMES, either set the values 800k in / out or 900k in / out depending on what you set the engine SMES to." "One more SMES to set, this one is rather important as it powers atmospherics. People like breathing! Set the values to about 80k in / out this will give those grumpy atmospheric technicians enough to play will." "OH! I almost forgot.. you organics need radiation protection! Please wear radiation suits at all times in and around the main supermatter room. You will also need masons goggles or you'll go mad! The supermatter crystals give off some light that is... oh... shiny..." Thus concludes the epic how to on suppermatter and you. If you are faced with imminent death please consult your in-game book for further instructions. Remember.. if it isn't super, it doesn't matter!â„¢ ---- Setups to try! [H]ot loop, [C]old loop H: Plasma, C: Plasma - /Very stable/ boringly stable.. but it produces a lot of power. H: Nitrogen, C: Nitrogen - Meh.. this is for scrubs. H: Oxygen, C: CO2 - Dangerous.. I've not fully tested this one. Depending on what code base you're on things could go boom! H: 20% Nitrogen, 80% Plasma, C: Plasma - Runs a bit hotter than pure plasma thanks to the nitrogen, it's a good setup if you want a hot hot loop. H: 50% Carbon Dioxide, 50% Plasma, C: Plasma - You'll get a bit more bang for your buck. ----- This is my first guide, please let me know what you think and if there are any mistakes or things that should be changed. Thanks!
  7. I've interacted with most of TrickingTrapster's characters and I can say for sure that they are a great RP'er. Albert Gizro has to be on my list of the most memorable characters I've encountered with Shalae coming a good second. I think they would do great things with a Tajara whitelist, +1 from me.
  8. Having interacted with Zahra Karimi on most of my characters I believe Synnono is a brilliant role player and would succeed completely as an IPC. I support this app +1 There's only one thing about the backstory that bothers me a little bit: It seems like quite an unempathetic thing to do as her former master did commission her at great cost. Perhaps there was more reasons in the background for her leaving than is said in the public facing backstory.
  9. Just to reply and say I've withdrawn my application for the reason highlighted on my main post.
  10. Application withdrawn I just found out what my schedule is like over the next few months and I doubt I'll be on as much as I'd like. So for that reason I withdraw my application for now.
  11. For anyone that doesn't know I am the player that plays Akela Ha'kim and i was CE during this round. Here's what happened early round from my point of view. The round was going okay, command received news of the cuts and the captain and HoS decided it was in everyone's best interest to cover up the bar and leisure area closure blaming it on a biohazard instead. This was all fine and dandy as the crews wage cuts was already announced. I told my engineers to stick around engineering when the announcement dropped about security's new arrest on sight policy if people are out of department without a decent reason. So that's what we did, we sat in engineering on standby waiting for any possible holes that may or may not appear. This is when things took a turn for the worst. Nasir and Akela were sitting happy in the engineering lobby chatting away as they normally do when a security officer comes down wanting to speak to Nasir. Akela immediately asks why and the officer states that Nasir has to be questioned in the brig due to anti-NT actions. Akela is obviously not very happy with this and tells the officer no and immediately states on command channel about the situation which is -to her irritation- ignored. The officer at this point refuses to back down stating that Nasir must come to the brig and is let into the lobby by Mick. At this point Oliver is also present. The officer then receives backup by two more officers and a Durand and immediately moves in to detain Nasir which Akela intervenes resulting in a flash to the face. Oliver, Nasir and Akela are all cuffed with Oliver and Nasir being dragged off to the brig. For some reason however, Akela is not taken with them and instead is left in the engineering lobby still in cuffs. After demands to know what is going on in command channel the captain appears in engineering and uncuffs Akela and both parties head over to the brig. Akela is pissed at this point and starts demanding answers as to why her engineers have been arrested over command channel which is met by a vague and somewhat distant response. After about maybe five minutes of annoyed prying she finally finds out the reason for the engineers false imprisonment which is the engineer Mick's spiteful tongue. Mick had said that Nasir had threatened to release the singularity which was not true. Akela is extremely pissed at this point. The prisoners are then moved to mining dock with Akela following behind. She tries to follow them into cargo and is swiftly told to leave which she complies with standing outside instead. Akela is then approached by the HoS who questions her about loyalty asking her if she is loyal to NT which Akela replies stating that the situation is nothing to do with loyalty and demands to know where they are taking her engineers (and husband) and what they plan to do. The HoS then tells Akela to leave and return to engineering, which reluctantly she does. However Akela does not stay in engineering instead asking her atmos tech to go grab a suit and meet her by the engineering shuttle. They both take the shuttle over there and do a quick EVA walk to mining to observe what the HoS and captain are planning to do with the prisoners. Whilst Akela and the atmos tech watch in silence the HoS lines up the engineers in a sort of 'firing line'. At this point the Durand from earlier walks around the corner and starts firing a taser at the atmos tech. Akela being quite quick runs a full circle around the mining dock end up on the mining shuttles side away from the Durand. She watches in horror as the prisoners are transferred to the EVA portion of the mining outpost. The actions due to previous posts on this thread are known so I will not repeat them. When happens next? Well as you know from previous posts the HoS and a few officers bail when the prisoners are start making their way though the window. The HoS and an officer escape with one being left behind. Akela at this point is inside the mining outpost, she used the baton on the officer trying to weld him into a closet however the others present seem intent on killing him. Her priority however is Nasir which is missing a hand at this point, on the floor in shock. They all board the mining shuttle and are taken back to the station. Akela lifts Nasir all the way to medbay using maintenance tunnels and demands that his wounds are treated. Nasir reluctantly accepts surgery and is instantly put on the table to be treated. Security at this point suddenly burst in and arrest Nasir whilst he is having surgery which due to their interruption is swiftly ceased. An officer tries to arrest Akela whom is present in the surgery observation room when she pulls out an RCD and blocks off the door. Security swarm around trying to find a way into the observation room with a borg present assisting them. They finally get bored trying to get to Akela and instead focus their attention on moving Nasir into security. Akela frees herself from the room and heads into genetics using the surgery room's side door. A geneticist suddenly jumps her stealing her crowbar and running off with it into medbay's entrance. Akela at this point feeling defeated says to the geneticist, "please stop" and begins to explain her story of what has happened previously. An officer then enters medbay with Akela still explaining adding the detail that she wasn't armed. Finally seeing that she wasn't the enemy the geneticist gives back her crowbar and to her surprise, the officer leaves her alone. Feeling the entire station is against her, Akela suddenly spots an Odysseus sitting by medbays entrance. Due to Akela knowledge in most robotics and engineering she boards the ody and plows into the brig at full speed. Nasir at this point is strapped in a straight jacket to a roller bed with the HoS, an officer (I think) and the CMO standing around 'chatting'. They all seem to pretty much ignore the ody much to my amusement. The HoS suddenly pulls out their gun and executes the CMO at point blank range. Akela not expecting this suddenly used the ody's pods and kidnaps the HoS running towards escape where she swiftly dumps the HoS (who is pretty shocked) near escape's airlock. She then runs full speed back to security where she picks up the CMO's body and starts pushing Nasir's roller bed to a point where she could free him. After some logistics Nasir is freed and loaded into the ody's storage where Akela then runs to engineering (dropping the CMO off in medbay along the way) proving an escape to the engineering outpost. Not a lot really happened after this. Nasir and Akela pretty much stayed on the asteroid until finally ERT arrive when they make their way back to the station. -- To answer a previous question, Akela and Nasir are shot by the RD through the command escape pods window, this is address in another complaint however it has pretty much been resolved. Apologises if this is a bit long, but I saw people were curious as to what happened in engineering.
  12. BYOND Key: Moltenkore Player Byond Key: Alberyk Staff involved: Reason for complaint: I don't make complaints very often at all unless I feel very strongly about the situation and in this case I do. Basically the round was very stressful, it lasted over 4 hours and a ton of things happened during which I won't go in to. This incident occurred right at the end of the round just as things were being wrapped up. Emillia Fairfield the research director one person hunted Akela and Nasir Ha'kim because they believed they both were trying to escape as terrorists. Basically ERT had ordered Akela and Nasir to board the command pod and weld themselves in, which of course due to previous round events, was done. The RD decided to take it upon themselves to grab a few guns, head out EVA and shoot through the pod's window. About four or five shots were fired landing Nasir instantly in critical condition with a further three or four shots aimed at Akela. After this, a volley of green projectiles was fired rendering both Akela and Nasir critical and unable to move. According to Alberyk in OOC chat the round after, they had just 'aimed at the window' however this is quite untrue due to the damage that Nasir suffered on the first round of shots. Akela did pull a side arm out after Nasir was downed however it was extremely useless as it failed after one shot. The problem I have with this incident is the lack of RP. The RD decided to take it upon themselves (without talking to ERT) to one person take on two people in a command pod, which to me is very unrealistic. Why an RD would go hunter killer all of a sudden is rather odd. Yes, they do have access to weapons but they should not be going out on a tactacle strike just to kill two people in a command pod. If anything and procedure was to be followed.. they would have at least talked to ERT before going Rambo. Apologies in advance for my terrible spelling / grammar etc.. it is currently 05:45 AM. Approximate Date/Time: 04/11/2015 RP-Rev Round, 05:00 AM GMT (UK) Edit: Looking back on it this whole round was a plain mess and I did receive a PM from Alberyk apologising which I accept. ERT were not very communicative at all during the end-game which did lead to the actions listed above. I would like to withdraw this complaint as I feel that the situation is resolved.
  13. How many current active Tajaran heads are there? I think of like three that I know of that play regularly.
  14. Well, Retconning is a thing and nobody would blame you. If the character in question didn't have such a large history I'd happily change her entire background. She has been through a lot of changes and to void all her past over one thing that is not possible seems like a waste. I'm not a big fan of reverting major changes in my characters but in this case it is called for. When I was speaking to Tenenza which is what originally sparked this thread one of their responses was this: "Secondary Admin PM from-Tenenza: It's been a while since I've seen anyone get a species whitelist strip, but I'd say you're flying rather close if Sue's responce is an indicator. I'd like to advice you try and backtrack a bit. You don't necessarily need to retcon, you could just say that the body didn't hold up well to extended neurological anti-rejection drugs. I dunno. You've got options." I just find it a bit concerning that I might have faced a species whitelist strip just for doing something a little bit outlandish. As far as I was aware at the time this whole concept was a grey area.

  16. Okay, I understand, that makes sense. However back to my character, is there anyway I can pursue the same timeline be it a freak accident or whatever to end up with the same conclusion without the implications of a species whitelist strip? I mean I much prefer playing her as Tajaran than IPC but she would still have to remain the same 'person'.

  18. Surely you could create a protohuman stick a new brain in and clone? Or is the act of making an MMI voiding all organic ties the brain already had to the body?

  20. So recently one of my characters got hit by a staff of change turning her from IPC to Tajaran. I thought it would be a cool idea if this could be made cannon so I created a Tajaran with the identity of my IPC (with a slightly altered name). Obviously wizard rounds are non-cannon so with that thought in mind maybe my IPC who was looking for a way to become organic for a long time could meet a knowledgeable geneticist to grow her the new body and insert her brain into it using some way or another. (MMI into skull and then clone?) Anyway this caused quite a stir and a few people were not happy about the sudden change from IPC to Tajaran which I can understand as the race would be misrepresented the same way if a human suddenly decided to become Tajaran. My question is, can an IPC become organic again using some method or another in a lore friendly way? For my character, human would be the original organic goal as her MMI originally came from one and with that in mind I assume if a MMI originally came form a Tajaran they could be a Tajaran organic again. However, she met a Tajaran and became very close, it would be only fitting that she would want to be a Tajaran herself and 'join' their race.

  22. Shameless bump. (I'm sorry )
  23. Let me start of by saying "Well..." -quoting Saul Stainforth! Senpai's characters are always well thought out and planned. As Kix I love interacting with Saul Stainforth in engineering bringing some much needed conversation out in the quiet times between explosions and / or chaos. I look forward to seeing this character brought to life in game and maybe with my own Tajaran app they would have semi-extended interactions because of where their jobs meet. (Roboticist and Miner) I approve of this app +1
  24. BYOND Key: Moltenkore Character Names: (Most well known) Kix, Venture, Centros Species you are applying to play: Tajaran What colour do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Brown /Dark Brown Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've always found Tajara interesting and since I've been playing Kix with a Tajaran shell my interest in them has grown significantly. They have a very interesting lore and their culture is quite diverse. They seem to be a lot more ruff than most races which will provide an interesting basis to create a new character. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Most Tajara speak referring to themselves in third person and often roll their 'R's. Most Tajara take names from Arabic or Russian as they are a lot easier for them to pronounce. Their different physiology than humans gives them a lot of access to different emotes that humans are incapable of such as their tail, ears and claws. This allows a lot more depth from the race during interaction with others in the game. Character Name: Ira To'ma Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Growing up in a tight nit family on the Tajaran homeworld of Adhomai. Ira and her sisters had to work quite hard to get by. When they had finally built up enough money they decided to move into the city for more work prospects and better living. However during one of the final weeks of hard labour out in the fields, Ira had a nasty encounter with a rogue landmine landing her in serious condition and killing one of her sisters. Over the next few months she steadily got worse suffering from broken bones and damaged hearing until one day a friend of her family contacted them about potential medical help they could receive if they agreed to a deal. The deal was once Ira recovered, she would work with the mining sector that was scouting near the remote villages for new dig sites. She would become an employee and work in exchange for medical care. Reluctantly, her family accepted and with it received the resources that Ira desperately needed. Still partially deaf Ira continued to work for the miners gaining valuable insight and experience in the sector, eventually moving into working on remote asteroids and belts. What do you like about this character? She's hardworking, strong and reliable. Even being partially deaf she is able to get by just fine with a determined attitude and will to succeed. She still however, has issues when it comes to explosives or other weaponry which will remind her of the horror that happened to her and her sister. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd say 8/10, I'm learning new things all the time and I think a new character will help me expand my ability. Notes: Ira is able work in mining and most civilian sectors due to her upbringing.
  25. Yeah, that was another thing I was going to bring up. At the moment race shells are not restricted to race only hardsuits and gloves etc. If that was added would this be reconsidered? And also, right now there is no real 'this person is a shell' marker anyway.
