BYOND key: Stobarico Discord Username: Stobarico#5913 Character names: Yumi Yamato (Mechanist) Zhao Huang (Xenoarcheologist) Bill Dornelles (Investigator) Ren Katsunaga (First Responder) Naomi Kido (Warden) Nakshatra Bhasin (Engineer) Samuele Di Savoia (Security Officer) Kethlyn Oliveira (Bridge Crew) Mustafa Al'Kazeem (Pharmacist) How long have you been playing on Aurora? Probably 2-3 years, I don't really know for sure to be honest. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I've received two warnings which are now expired about the naming of my Eridanian and their skin tone and about fighting with antags when I could have escaped. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? My view is that they're supposed to coordinate a group of players (Their department, if necessary more, should the situation arise) and teach new ones (They are the most experienced, afterall). They are also there to try and increase the fun factor, example being: It's not fun to just hand out lethals as the HoS when you know you're fighting a hulked vampire or changeling just because you have meta knowledge that stuns won't really work, keeping things interesting isn't always just dealing with the immediate threat, although you also need to know when you have to prioritize mechanics over gameplay as well. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? As a whitelisted player, you're supposed to be part of a "trusted" group, way more than a normal player. I'd strive to uphold them by doing my best to focus on the roleplay aspect as well as trying to best toe the fine line of not making the round hell for antagonists but also not making it unbelievable and hard for the crew. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. I have quite a lot of characters as of now, and they've been affected in different ways, so I will cover the two who were affected the most. Bill's whole story is centered around the Mars fires, and how his daughter died in the destruction of Great London, which made him defect from Sol to Biesel, he worked at the Aurora, then asked to transfer to the Horizon for the better pay. Kethlyn's story is all about the Sol Invasion arc, she was previously a TCFL fighter and troop transport pilot and after the "Lights Above Mendell" event, she lost a lot of friends, which eventually led to her choice of moving to the reserve and join the SCC under a capital ship artillery learning program, and when the weaponry was installed on the Horizon, she was assigned to it. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Research Director, Head of Security, Chief Engineer, Chief Medical Officer, Liaison and Consular. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Naomi Kido as HoS, Zhao Huang as Research Director, Nakshatra Bhasin as Chief Engineer and Mustafa Al'Kazeem as Chief Medical Officer. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you linked your byond account to the forums? Yes Extra notes: I haven't felt the necessity to apply once more after my previous denial due to playtime and hiatuses, however, now I'd like to join Command, and I feel like my playtime's been pretty good and consistant as well as my gameplay and roleplay.
  2. Irl at least, ships have a general quarters alarm when they engage in combat, so I'd say we could have something like that for sure +1

I've received two warnings which are now expired according to the thingy ingame about the naming of my Eridanian and their skin tone and about fighting with antags when I could have escaped. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? I think my view is the same as it has always been, they're supposed to coordinate a group of players and teach new ones. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? As a whitelisted player, you're supposed to be "trusted", way more than a normal player. I strive to uphold them by doing what I've been doing since I came back, focusing on the roleplay aspect. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? I have quite a lot of characters as of now (A few just recently created), and they've been affected in different ways. Yumi was traumatized by the fleet ransacking her homeplanet (Konyang), Noah has been pricing stuff differently because of the phoron shortages and Bill's whole story is centered around the Mars fires. A good bunch however, haven't felt much of an impact due to not being related to the events happening in Tau Ceti other than being in the Horizon for the prestige and money. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Research Director, Head of Security, Liaison and Consular. Perhaps Captain and XO, but only when I'm familiarized with Command. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Naomi Kido would be promoted to HoS, and Zhao Huang to Research Director. Otherwise I have the idea of a the peaceful TCFL veteran trying to make sure the ship is following Biesel's laws. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you linked your byond account to the forums? Yes Extra notes: I know I haven't been nice a few times, but I believe I've evolved quite a lot since then, and I hope I can show that this time. If you guys/gals got any questions, feel free to ask here or over at my discord!
  4. I do agree that was disrespectful of my part and as I've said I apologize for it, however, I never intended nor believe that I have derailed the ticket, considering I was simply reasoning and linking things of the current topic: naming in the West/Central Africa. I do not believe the statement that follows shortly after: "I dont recall the name you giving me being 'jean' or 'adam' though? Like this is not a weird concept to wrap your head around." was curt, quite the contrary. To you perhaps it is not, but to me who had someone screaming over LOOC that my character isn't black, he's in fact white, it definetively is. And that's what I see as the problem here, as a Western you'd likely believe a name like Samuel wouldn't be a thing on Central/West Africa, however a simple google search of "Samuel Nigeria" will show you in the first 3 results famous Nigerians named Samuel. And I'll be honest, I didn't mention that at the ticket as I only looked it up after it was concluded (Samuel is a much more religiously related name than culturally, being part of the abrahamic religions). Which also made me agree that Nowak isn't fitting (A polish surname).
  5. First, the person on LOOC implying a character that isn't "black enough" cannot be part of the Central/West African continent, then MattAtlas as expressed in the part "[...] pretty much implying that Central/West Africans would never name their son Samuel and must follow strict naming rules otherwise they wouldn't be African enough."
  6. BYOND Key: Stobarico Staff BYOND Key: MattAtlas Game ID: chl-dnmW Reason for complaint: The administrator in question was very disrespectful in a ticket, then proceeded to give me a warning, situation follows: Someone begins complaining about my character not being black enough to be an Eridanian over LOOC, I assume they either proceed to ahelp it or the LOOC is noted by MattAtlas, who then proceeds to open my ticket. Eventually the administrator retracts their statement that the skin color must be changed but remains adamant that the name must be changed, I give him a surname that I looked up on the internet, Abakar, but they continue to ask for my character's first name to be changed, and eventually threaten to ban me for this whole affair. What I found so disrespectful was the incredibly heavy racial connotation this ticket had, pretty much implying that Central/West Africans would never name their son Samuel and must follow strict naming rules otherwise they wouldn't be African enough. Evidence/logs/etc: Logs attatched to the post. Additional remarks: I am aware that I got aggrevated and I am sorry for that, however, the reason for such was that someone over LOOC was claiming my character was not "black enough" because to them a mixed person apparently is white, the whole situation which seemed insanely racist to me, a thing I would've never expected to see in Aurora of all places and this seemed to bother the player of Dredd Von Ortmeyer as well, and MattAtlas certainly not helping with passive-aggressive answers such as "I dont recall the name you giving me being 'jean' or 'adam' though? Like this is not a weird concept to wrap your head around." SS13_Chat_Log_2022-05-01_191416.html
  7. Truly, the same things again, however as I said about the Merchant, I'd only do that again if the Merchant role was removed due to us moving to the NBT, and this time, it would make a lot more sense, as Noah would be representing either a trade union or the Scarabs. Helena, huh? Been a while, when I saw that name I didn't even recognize it, well, actions speak louder than words, and Kip, my new cook hasn't gotten into any trouble nor has the same personality. To address this and Soo-Min's aggressiveness, I believe not only I've grown as a person, but the character herself is definitively more lenient and fleshed out, although Soo-Min is still one of my simpler characters, compared with Bill, Gregory, Ren and Noah. Also, I usually play 1+ times a day.
  8. BYOND key: Stobarico Character names: Yumi Yamato (Roboticist), Rim Soo-Min (Scientist), Samuel Nowak (Security Officer), Noah Mayfly (Merchant), Zhao Huang (Xenoarcheologist), Bill Dornelles (Investigator), Ren Katsunaga (EMT), Gregory Popov (Priest), Kip McNamara (Cook). I do have the intention of making a few new characters, one from Gadpatur, one from Assunzione and one from Elyra, but I don't know their roles or stories yet. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: A bit more than a year by now, I reckon. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Not that I know / remember of. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Coordinate their department, solve disputes, fill in paperwork and help out newer players. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: As a whitelisted player, you're supposed to be within a "trusted" group of people who are known to be decent roleplayers, know the lore and not "shitters". Honestly, I wouldn't change much, as I feel like I already do my best to strive to be a good community member in general, although maybe I could get more involved in the Discord. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your characters and their careers? A rogue Solarian fleet attempted to raid Tau Ceti, causing much political turmoil. The Sol Alliance is beginning to falter and split apart as a new power rises, the conglomerate of several megacorporations (Hephaestus, Nanotrasen, Zeng-Hu, EPMC, Zavodskoi and Idris) named the SCC (Stellar Corporate Conglomerate). It depends, each character has their own story, some of them with severe impact of these recent events: Yumi as a TCFL Legionnaire likely had and still has to deal with the Solarians, as the fleet losing in combat meant it splintered into raiders, pirates and mercenaries. Soo-Min now hates Sol nationalists due to them ransacking her planet, Konyang, although she's been more understanding on "not all Solarians are loyalists" than before. Bill's a recent character, developed around this arc, he was an agent of Solarian Investigation Bureau who defected and now lives in Mendell under political asylum. (Tldr: He deserted because he lived on Mars and one of the big phoron fires destroyed the arcology he lived, killing one of his children). Those are the ones that have been most impacted, I'd say. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Research Director, Consular and Representative. These are less likely for me to play, but I might give it a shot: Head of Security and Captain. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Rim Soo-Min (Research Director) and perhaps Noah Mayfly as a Consular/Rep (This one depends on the NBT and if Merchants will still be a thing, otherwise he'll remain a Merchant). Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes
  9. I feel like having only Hephaestus for cargo will be restrictive, Idris could make a good fit for the cargo technicians and quartermasters as some kind of space Amazon, but it still wouldn't fix the problem of Himean mining characters not having a faction to choose since they would never work for Hephaestus.
  10. BYOND Key: Stobarico Game ID: cai-doQw Player Byond Key/Character name: Marksman (Rushodan) Staff involved: Melariara Reason for complaint: Breaking "Only resort to killing if it makes sense or drives a story." and "Roleplaying Characters". I was asked by the Merc IPC if i wished to cooperate with their "business", when told no, he simply followed me into my ship (I was a Merchant) and shot me without a word, mind you, i was unarmed and wearing no armor, but the IPC in question jumped to straight up emptying his magazine into me without further words (No attempts to force me to cooperate with them or anything). Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Moderation was contacted, they proceeded to do nothing. Approximate Date/Time: 26/01/2021, around 18:18
  11. High security areas were broken into, the vault had been breached and no culprit was found by investigation, and we had no idea if she only had pictures with her. The problem the character had is the Head of Security decided to not deal with the situation, causing the whole Science department to antagonize him and complain to her, the Director. On point one, to take down a lightly armed scout is to handle an actual larger incursion later, mainly when the scout did not have any heavier weaponry, as they only had on person, their armor and an oxygen tank. The hostage situation was dealt quickly and shittily, the Janitor who did it was shot dead in a few minutes after security arrived on scene, even when they had no armor to counteract disabler fire. The Director had no way of assisting due to there being no mining division present, she gladly upgrades security in a regular basis, even developping more efficient disablers when she's able. What seemed to Soo-Min and the whole science department is that Price was clearly aiding and uncaring about the incursion, even saying that "If the scout returned to the fleet, the takeover would be bloodless". It was, you accidentally forgot to put in the part where you said for us to grab up arms and go after him if we are so worried about the marine Although i agree it was overly hostile of Soo-Min, it is currently part of her character (Not only was she always a bit like this, but now she's stressed easily because of what the 35th did to Konyang), but when reason is needed she gets down to it (She had open the door for security when they requested to be let in to deal with the Tajaran who was causing problems, who then security proceeded to chase down into a corner and shoot down, making them throw the "grenade".)
  12. BYOND key: Stobarico Character names: Yumi Yamato, Rim Soo-Min, Larissa Izakovich, Helena Raymond, Samuel Nowak, Noah Mayfly, Zhao Huang, Dominius Dornelles, Aires Fortuna, Alice Newcastle. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Around 6 months Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I usually play command roles on other stations and i rather enjoy it, and also because of my previously denied application (2 months ago). Why did you come to Aurora? I was searching for a HRP server (Since i mostly played CM) and found Aurora and Bay. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I was ahelped once about calling out a cortical borer, but that's it. (At the time i didn't know borers were unknown to the public) Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: For me, roleplaying is to impersonate a character, act as he should act in real life, but in a game. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: They are there to maintain order, to command their staff (Command (Captain), Security(Head of Security), Medical(Chief Medical Officer), Science(Research Director), Service(Head of Personel), Engineering(Chief Engineer)) and to assist them as the Standard Operating Procedure lets them. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A team needs orders, someone to command them, or it becomes really hard to do things, but, if the commander is bad, the team can fall behind, well, i would give out the orders, and try helping them as i could, that means, as the Standard Operating Protocol says (Obviously, on a crisis, i would mostly help them as i could) Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Tau Ceti is one of the few factions with phoron in their boarders, they are an independent system in the core of the human space and NanoTrasen has a lot of ties with their government (The Republic of Biesel). They are currently one of the most populated and financially prosperous systems in the galaxy, however, the Republic remains unstable due to unrest and its agressive neighbouring "wounded giant", the Sol Alliance. The Aurora station (A high tech, and the second most important NanoTrasen station, losing to the NSS Upsilon) is a somewhat recent addition to the system, and so is the Odin (NanoTrasen's Central Command). And recently, a galactic-wide phoron shortage has been making everything worse, however, now the galaxy is in the brink of a full blown war, as chaos takes over Mars, and the 35th Sol Fleet is spotted by Odin's AI in the edges of the system. I considered most of my characters to be in cryo stasis for the time i've been out, so they haven't had the chance to react to the current situation. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Research Director, Corporate Liaison and Consular Officer, Head of Security. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Rim Soo-Min (Haven't played her since the first whitelist trial as she was promoted to Director and left Zavodskoi for NanoTrasen) How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I'd rate it to be good to very good, i've been playing SS13 for 6 years or so, and TTRPGs for 4 years. Currently i believe i'm also more integrated with Aurora's lore. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Extra notes: I've been away for some weeks now due to some IRL stuff, but i feel like after i had this "break" i'm ready to try this whitelist again. (With way less spaghettery)
  13. I'm aware, Soo-Min didn't randomly MMI the brain, she was trying to keep it on life support to see if medbay could do something about it, as the brain was exposed and with no oxygen, considering it came out of the guy's head
  14. She initially had applied for Hephaestus after the story above, but was incredibly disappointed after she discovered they were going to use her to spy on NanoTrasen (Actually happened on the round). She was attempting to get a double citizenship with Biesel (She's from Elyra) for some time, however, she was able to push her way due to that intel she got on Hephaestus, and was hired as a Trainee Consular Officer due to her experience in negotiation and for diplomatic protection.
  15. It sounds like a really cool idea! Right now Aurora doesn't really feel like an important research facility to me, just feels like a normal station. +1
  16. Erika Hoffmann is Opposed to NanoTrasen (As you could see in her records), not to mention you heard she talk from behind a window, behind a closed airlock. She was talking with a friend who also expressed anti-NanoTrasen feelings, openning herself up to her. She's going through a whole character arc right now, involving her character going out of being an Independant Merchant to a Representative.
  17. I am. Soo-Min would take a contract for NanoTrasen, offered due to her achievements on the Aurora. She is, Hoffmann however has always had a lot of involvement with Hephaestus (Due to their meddling in Elyra) and has even worked with them before when she was young. As piracy and the chaos in the sector increases due to the phoron shortage, she would decide to apply for a position within Hephaestus for a more stable career. As said before, Tau Ceti is one of the few factions with phoron in their boarders, they are an independant system in the core of the human space and NanoTrasen has a lot of ties with their government (The Republic of Biesel). And recently, a galactic-wide phoron shortage has been making everything worse.
  18. BYOND key: Stobarico Character names: Rim Soo-Min, Yumi Yamato, Sergio Stone, Anne-Marie Leouncour, Erika Hoffmann, INI-2222 How long have you been playing on Aurora?: 6 months or so? Not really sure Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I usually play command roles on other stations and i rather enjoy it. Why did you come to Aurora?: I was searching for a HRP server (Since i mostly played CM) and found Aurora and Bay Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes Have you received any administrative actions? (At the time i didn't know borers were unknown to the public) Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay in my opinion should be about "playing" a different person to the best of your abilities, doing your best to play up the character like it was a real person instead of the usual "it's just a game". What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Mainly, coordinate their respective departments and act as the most competent member of said departments. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Their role is pretty much of a Head of Staff, with the caveat that they should also play characters that can either be responsible enough to coordinate their departments or characters that add something interesting to the setting. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Tau Ceti is the base of operations of Nanotrasen and one of the few sources of Phoron, a resource recently discovered by Nanotrasen. It depends on the character in question. My two main characters (Soo-Min and Stone) are the most developed ones. Rim Soo-Min hails from Konyang, and as an employee of Zavodskoi, is assigned to the station for weapon research related to phoron. Sergio Stone hails from Earth, working as a Sol Gov guard on London for the early parts of his life, but once he gets settled with his wife and kids, he gets tight on money, and accepts Nanotrasen's proposal to work at the Aurora Station. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Captain, Research Director, Corporate Liaison. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Sergio Stone (Captain), Rim Soo-Min (RD), Erika Hoffmann (Hephaestus Liaison) How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I'd rate it to be good to very good, i've been playing SS13 for 6 years or so, and TTRPGs for 4 years. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? With the ones i wish to play, i have. I have an interest in creating a CE, but firstly i'd have to play an Engineer to make sure i'm competent enough (I'm familiar with SS13 engineering, but i am not sure about Aurora's engineering.) Extra notes:
  19. BYOND key: Stobarico Character names: Sergio Stone How long have you been playing on Aurora?: 1 month. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Because i love playing the head roles, and i mostly do really well as a commander. Why did you come to Aurora?: Because i was searching for a new server to play with a good ammount of RP. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes, i have. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: For me, roleplaying is to impersonate a character, act as he should act in real life, but in a game. Character name: Sergio Stone Character age: 40 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Sergio Stone, born in Earth, Sol system, Sergio had a rich family, who got heavily hit by the First Interstellar War and the economic recession. Sergio, always studied to be a captain, an officer as his father was, he studied for management and completed the college, soon, he was a manager. His father was a Nanotrasen Navy officer but got killed when Sergio was 20 years old by a syndicate operation, the reports about his death are highly classified, as the ship his father worked "unknowingly" exploded, his mother, died at his birth, she worked as a CMO in the same ship that his father worked. After his father's death, he studied to be a security officer, and when he was 25 years old, he signed his Nanotrasen contract, to follow his father's steps. What do you like about this character?: I like this character because i've played with him in several servers, and most of them had a similiar lore, Sergio is a good and inspirational commander, he likes to keep the morale of his subortinates up, BUT... What do you dislike about this character?: He can get angry fast and HATES people who betray him and he gets things to his personal side really quickly What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Like i said, he is a "good and inspirational commander", and he's following his father's steps, tryng to rise on the Nanotrasen ranks Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I could rate it as 9/10, i can get really angry sometimes, but overall i have never did things like screaming something about IC at OOC or just going completely out of character, i always try to maintain the roleplay and do the things "correctly" Extra notes:I'd like to add that i have LOTS of command experience in other servers (Paradise Station, Colonial Marines and Absolution(A warhammer 40k server)) as i mostly play into the command staff, i just dont like playng as RD, CE and CMO that much, i prefer playng HoP, HoS or Captain
