AmoryBlaine Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Just like Bay, or CM. Make alt + click or ctrl +click on any weapon allow you to make it ICly put on safe. Right now all we have is an OOC safety system that makes you not shoot unless set to harm. But, that's not good enough. Most people don't even know it's there in the preferences.
Sytic Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 ALSO, The safety features are OFF by DEFAULT. That's not what a safety is for. So if you've deleted your BYOND Cache, and go back into your game, you could accidentally shoot someone in the head through a series of unfortunate circumstances. I'm still sorry about that practice shell, by the way, Mr. Warden. If you remember me.
Carver Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 I don't like the idea but at the same time I don't see the harm it could cause. As long as it's not obnoxious to disable and there isn't some meme mechanic where you shoot yourself when trying to store a weapon with the safety off.

Alt + click; safety on. Alt + click; safety off.
LorenLuke Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 This is more a personal thing than anything, but my thoughts are that this is something to avoid. Given that help intent is basically this, adding a safety is redundant. Plus Bay's implementation is poor execution. I'd rather have the ability to target someone and not have it go off, than listen to it try to shoot like an echo-locating cricket tap dancing in a castanet factory because someone decides to click to face between me and the door.
AmoryBlaine Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 Just now, LorenLuke said: I'd rather have the ability to target someone and not have it go off, It already does that. Turn on aim, disable the aim lock movement inhibitor.

TBH I just always personally forget it exists. It's a more of a personal dislike (I don't use the awful 'safety via intent' mechanic either), I'm not against the idea at all if it's as simple as stated.

Right, but rather than have to click a button (or several buttons, if it's radio, walking, and items), or ctrl+1 to not shoot or any other intent to shoot, target than have to go for a bunch of heuristics to manage instead of just one.
