TheNewLugia
BYOND key: TheNewLugiaCharacter names: Darius Stafford (Security Officer), Kevi Paralta (Roboticist), Judas Arway (Captain, obviously as I've been on trial) and much less often, Alexander Bradley (Medical Doctor)How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I've been playing Aurora since I started playing SS13, which was about 2 years ago, as the only server I really played on, but over the last few months, I've been more consistently active. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I believe having the ability to play as more demanding and challenging roles would give me more opportunities to shape the story of each roleplay in a more interesting and dramatic way. I've always loved being a leader and been a good decision maker under pressure, so I want the availability of the command roles so I can put these qualities to use.Why did you come to Aurora?: Mainly because of Aurora's branding as a 'heavy roleplay' server, because that's what I wanted to find in SS13 from the start.Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have, the two main ones for me being HoS and RD.Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I haven't received any administrative action. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is two or more people taking up the roles of characters they design and empathizing with them to the point that they think and act like them. It is a narrative driven by the people partaking in it, and in a theatrical sense, roleplaying is people coming up with characters who then interact and improvise with the other characters to form a plot, assisted by the setting or medium (in this case, the Aurorastation server). The main difference in roleplaying and theatre, to me, is that the audience is actually the performers in RP, which gives a whole new dynamic to the story, as the roleplayers can create the perfect story that they themselves and others will enjoy, rather than sticking to a script. This ideal type of roleplay should never be exactly what the participants expect it to be, however, as one of the most interesting parts of roleplay is that no-one ever knows what direction the story will go in. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I believe that the purpose of a Head of Staff player is to be an exemplar for what a player in each respective department should want their character to be like, a sort of subconscious role model for how a non-HoS player's character develops. This sounds like I interpreted the question as IC instead of OOC, but what I mean is that a player should feel that by talking to HoS players Out of Character that they can learn more about how they should role play their character to react to situations more akin to how the HoS players would, again referring back to the HoS players being examplar. They should also be approachable by players who have questions about department-specific mechanics and jobs, and therefore have a vast knowledge of the department they are playing as the Head of Staff for. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Without trying to repeat myself too much from the last question, Whitelisted players should be respectable among the community, ideally having a more positive reputation than negative, and should once again, be role model roleplayers and articulate and intelligent communicators, who are also capable of having a laugh with others, while maintaining a maturity and awareness of when different attitudes are appropriate for different situations. If I were to be whitelisted, I would demonstrate what I have said by helping those in need in Discord and in-game OOC to the best of my ability, but understanding when a problem is out of my depth and forwarding them to an appropriate member of staff. I would do my best to be welcoming and inviting to new players, or people who want to become more integrated into the Aurora community. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career?: Tau Ceti is governed by the Republic of Biesel, a previously prosperous nation, but years of political tensions between the renowned wealthy state and its former parent allegiance, 'The Sol Alliance', coupled with inhabitants' unrest with the government and the rising threat of Syndicate activities in cities such as Mendell City leaves an uncertainty for the future of the nation. My character, Kevi, lived mainly unaffected by the state of the Tau Ceti governing bodies, having lived a privileged life and gaining his Master's at the University of Mars. However, Darius has always been interested in politics and political tensions, having grown up in a working-class family and having been involved in petty criminal activities in his younger years. Darius is especially skeptical of mega-corporations but had favoured Nanotrasen until the company basically instigated the breakaway of the Republic of Biesel from the Sol Alliance, as he saw it as manipulative and didn't believe it was their place to become political, as they increasingly have become. Darius begrudgingly accepted a scholarship with Nanotrasen to train in New Seoul CTC, which eventually lead to his placement as a security officer on NSS Aurora. The Aut'akh, which are Unathi who have been altered through cybernetics, have become more common, working more manual jobs in Tau Ceti and indeed on NSS Aurora. Their religion has sparked controversy in Tau Ceti as some view it as more radical than other Unathi-stemmed beliefs. Kevi views the Aut'akh with respect and holds no prejudice against them, and believes that they should be permitted to work at any job they can qualify for. Darius, however, prefers having the Aut'akh only work at laborious or apprentice-level jobs, due to his slight closedmindedness, but a recent interaction with an Aut'akh cadet has begun to change his opinion. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? If my application is accepted, I would probably play the command roles of Head of Security and Research Director and also play Roboticist. I would not feel as comfortable playing as a CMO as I would as a Captain, Head of Personnel and IAA, and if I was to decide that I wanted to play a shift as the Chief Engineer, I would definitely have to give myself a round or two more in experience of the department. I would be very confident in playing roles that aren't those two, but I would mainly stick to those I mentioned first. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: I would use Kevi Paralta for Research Director, and Darius Stafford for Head of Security. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Out of 10, I would give myself a 7.5-8. I believe I am able to create and facilitate interesting and realistic scenarios for myself and other players to RP through, and that I adhere to general roleplaying rules such as not power gaming, meta, etc. very well. My descriptions of actions can be vague at times when I am busy tending to other things. For example, if I was talking on the radio to someone, my actions might consist of 'Darius Stafford shrugs', or other things as simple as that. In my opinion, that's something I need to work on, but others might disagree. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?: I understand that and will not argue nor irritate staff if my whitelist was to be removed. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?: I have, I spent the time preparing to write this reading over them and finding all the helpful articles I could use in the future if I was to receive whitelist.Extra notes: Thanks for taking the time to review this Edited March 16, 2019 by ReadThisNamePlz New captain character Link to comment

TheNewLugia
One thing I forgot to mention is that I’m GMT, so I normally play at more dead hours with a lower pop, so I haven’t had the highest profile on the server. Sorry if that should’ve been there to take into consideration the first time Link to comment
AmoryBlaine
I do not understand the obesssion Sec players have with forcing their Officers to reach HoS status. I refuse to support this, given that intent. Make. New. Characters. Link to comment
TheNewLugia
I’ll gladly make a new character for HoS if the general community consensus is for me to not carry forward characters, just didn’t really see a problem with it in my opinion. Could make more sense canonically for an officer to be promoted to a higher position by Nanotrasen in the station they’re already placed on rather than an outsider coming and being given the position, but that’s just my view. ReadThisNamePlz
I want more feedback before I decide whether to move forward with a trial or not for you. Please advertise your app on the server to achieve this. I barely know who you are, and you have very limited staff encounters. (Which is good) Thanks! Link to comment
ReadThisNamePlz
Hi, we'll be giving you a trial! The trial will last until 3/10/2019. Please try to get more feedback during the trial, thank you! Link to comment
NerdyVampire
I experienced Lugia's play as Darius, the head of security. While he made a few errors, he seemed willing to roleplay his role and seemed proficient in commanding his staff. I'd be happy to have him be in command. +1 I've also roleplayed with Darius before he became head and had the same pleasant experience. Link to comment
calion12
Stafford is goodboy, did a good job of ordering around security efficiently and managed well with my orders being barked at him. Room for improvement as there is in most people but would definitely support this. I hop they'll keep up the good work. Link to comment

Just want to make it clear that these were after my first round as HoS, so I was still learning it all, especially the Warrant issuing system ? Link to comment
