Leudoberct Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Currently, Pharmacists and Biochemists cannot access the temporary or permanent morgues. I don't really know why. It can be argued that they won't be needing to clone anyone, however, it's just a general nuisance. I've had people ask me before to put a body away in the morgue and be unable to because of it.
Conspiir Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 They have no need to be in the morgue. Jobs tend to have access to places that they need to. A Biochemist and especially a Pharmacist would not be dealing with dead bodies in place of a physician. And if they are, if medical is flooded and someone has to do it, you have to call for the AI or leave them outside it.
Arrow768 Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Keep in mind that, as a pharmacist / biochemist, you should store bodies in the virology morgue on the lower level in case they contain or have the potential to contain pathogens
Leudoberct Posted April 5, 2019 Author Posted April 5, 2019 And if the body doesn't have the potential to contain a pathogen, because there's no outbreak? And on it being a place you don't "need access to", we don't need access to the cloning lab, but we get it. It makes sense to not have access to surgery for example, because it's a job specific area. But the morgue isn't. It's a place for storing bodies, and I can't really think of any reason why any medbay member shouldn't have access. There's been rounds where I am the only medbay member and there is no AI, leaving me completely unable to access the morgue short of breaking in. Any medbay member should have access, honestly. It's just a place to store bodies, it's not job specific.

Kaed Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 The way things are arranged now it's impossible to walk into the temporary morgue without walking through cloning. Could we maybe swap places there so you have to walk through the morgue to get to cloning and make it public access for medical individuals? Cloning should be a branch off of the morgue rather than the opposite anyway, the morgue doesn't exist in facilitate the cloning facility.

I believe the intent is for the temporary morgue (the one on the main level) to be used only when the body is meant to be cloned or in the process of cloning and hasn't been dealt with (living clone comes before clone body). Meaning if you have access to cloning, you should have access to the temporary morgue. I don't know why a Pharmacist has access to cloning, they shouldn't be allowed to unless they're expected to know how to clone (which doesn't seem right). Seems like an oversight. 16 hours ago, Senpai Jackboot said: If they have access to a type of morgue it seems like a QoL issue to give them access to the regular morgue? The virology morgue is literally within virology, as a part of it. More of an autopsy room, I think. There's even a crematorium in it. It's not meant for body storage. That's the responsibility of a real doctor. I guess I still don't understand why the guy making pills and/or curing viruses should have access to dead body storage. Imagine a hospital pharmacist saying "Yeah, I need into the morgue" and not getting questioned on that. Is that not a little bit strange? Am I crazy? Edited April 6, 2019 by Conspiir
