[Accepted] WhatsUpBrotendo's IPC Application

Recommended Posts

BYOND Key: WhatsUpBrotendo

Character Names: Flint Styles (bartender), Patrick O'Callaghan (detective), Mitch Yung (engineer), Antoinette (medical borg), Keihakaka (Vox merchant)

Species you are applying to play: IPC.

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

I'd like to finally expand my roster a bit, and I flipped a coin to see whether I should choose Dionae or IPC. I enjoyed reading up on the lore behind IPCs and love the tagging and overall disparagement of IPCs due to mistrust since its something I've not seen in IPC lore before playing on this server.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

In the end, an IPCs decision making is calculated, meaning that they would not make bold and rash decisions. Even though their emotions are simulated and they cannot actually feel pain, they would still have their own welfare in mind as they are expensive to repair. Saying that, however, they would also be willing to go into most dangerous situations that organics would refuse as they are sturdy and immune to most hazards.

Since IPCs are not given the same rights as organics, and they are treated with suspicion or hostility by a large number of people, they would be more courteous and friendly to crewmembers than you would expect from any other species.

Character Name: P.A.N.T.O.

Please provide a short backstory for this character

P.A.N.T.O. is a baseline Zeng-Hu Mobility frame and was manufactured in fabrication district 83 on New Gibson on 13/3/2456. Originally designated ZHP.3452-P, they were created to work in fields that require high dexterity and speed. A travelling theatre troupe called "The Carp and Hoverbike" purchased this IPC for the advertised dextrous mobility, and renamed it to P.A.N.T.O. to represent its role in pantomime theatre with the troupe. P.A.N.T.O.'s purpose was to be an understudy; with its capability to remember vast amounts of data, it was able to memorise the lines and actions for every other actor in the troupe and replace them if they were unable to perform.

P.A.N.T.O. became a good investment for the troupe, and was received well by audiences - especially when P.A.N.T.O. had to fill in for the villain role. But after three years of service, the theatre troupe started to run into money issues due to low sales. To off-set the costs, P.A.N.T.O. was sold to NanoTrasen in 2459 and was assigned to the N.S.S. Canes Venatici as a janitor, where they diligently cleaned the station while also providing humour for the medical staff. P.A.N.T.O.'s style of humour from years of working in pantomime theatre was a welcomed break for the crew, and they were regularly acclaimed by patients whenever P.A.N.T.O. was cleaning their ward.

Two years later, P.A.N.T.O. was reassigned to the N.S.S. Aurora.

What do you like about this character?

I like theatre and I really enjoy playing IPCs, and the idea of an entertainment IPC is something that I've played around with on a different server, but never really gave it more depth than jokes. I'm pretty keen on the idea of playing an IPC mimicking the personality of a pantomime actor.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

I'd probably rate it a 7/10, I enjoy roleplaying but I've been told that sometimes I seem to "rush" things when playing SS13, something I'm trying to work on.

Notes: This is my first app and I've only started playing here a month ago so I'd appreciate any sort of feedback.

In all my time of playing AI I've seen him play android the entire time, I never knew who actually played the android but he was a very fun and well played android, now that I know who actually plays them and the fact that they want to make an IPC instead of just playing lawbound androids, Im giving this an absolutely massive 1+ Totally recommend in all my time of AI, never broke character and always played the best french-esc borg I've seen
