There b pirates Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 Every time there is a rev round where there are not enough players, you inevitably see half of them say in chat >"BULLET DODGED" >"Thank God" and other phrases of the sort. The simple truth that anyone who plays rev / loyalist knows it's like trying to gas light an entire station into believing they have problems that they don't. When there's two of you and 10+ of them, there is very small chance that you can gaslight one of them, let alone an entire team. These are not lost roles however. These Roles just need driven events to go off of. Start the AI with a mild rule change. Tell a head that they have a goal and must push their employees extra hard. Have certain items be missing from the round start ( insulated gloves, steel sheets, stun batons, ethanol, kinetic accelerators), anything to hook the players in and have the roles goal based on actual infractions, and you know, NOT Gaslighting People!

People say this for almost all gamemodes As for the rest, there was some chatter about something called mutiny, which as I understood it, was rev but with set objectives? Random shit being in short supply could be nice though (For any gamemode maybe)

Random shit being in short supply could be nice though (For any gamemode maybe) It was Rev but there was automated announcements that sorta pushed things in a certain direction. Like "we're firing all of X." or shit like that. We could probably set it to select based off who is in the round or something. Like since the message would be in the round it could look at the manifest and then base it off departments, races, sex, ect, rather than pure RNG.
Pratepresidenten Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 That could be interesting for sure!

Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I think rev would work best attached to other game modes. When command is dealing with antags and someone in command is a traitor its easier to convince people to arm up and seize control to bring things back to normal. My old character jawdat would orchestrate a crisis' then work to undermine and overthrow command using rp loyalists. Stuff like that.

Rev works well when there's other stuff going on to justify it. But- honestly, I'd just prefer more leeway with self-antags. Rev as a gamemode is very- not good, because it encourages people to be "terrorists" in the most general sense because of "things". It's the little symbol you get when you become Rev that reminds people they're antags and have more leeway, which allows them to do stupid things. And given Rev is pretty dicey with lots of shit going on, it's hard to handle- plus more antags. It just gets messy in a not fun way.
Carver Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Mutiny, whilst the first to introduce multi-faction 'rev' gameplay, didn't work on the basis of the objectives being either something no one cares about (all of x species get demoted), or something that immediately causes mass lynchings of Command (gas these 12 specific people for having a non-existent virus/demote all personnel of the opposite sex of the Captain).
