How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I can't even remember anymore. At least 4 years? 

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I've always enjoyed making things fun on the Aurora. Heads of staff are able to really get the ball rolling on certain things. Be it driving story or simply making a shift enjoyable for others. 

Why did you come to Aurora?: Because Hypatia died a while back. 

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes I have. 

Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? On may 29th 2020 I was given a day ban for firing on an antag with a laser pistol who was actively attacking my Head of Research as Captain. During this time, I was a moderator for the server and had juuust come back from a bout of SSD/AFK. I failed to scroll up and read what was said to me by the RD and made a grave error. I got them both killed and really messed up. I will always own my mistakes, but I believe with a second chance, Something like this will not happen again. 

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:  To me roleplay is to escape from reality for a bit, dive into a different world and do it with other people. It's about writing a story that's never going to be the same thing twice. I've been roleplaying for years and it's at it's core, for me, super relaxing. 

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The OOC purpose of a head of staff is to promote team work, communication and raise the bar for other players. Be a teacher, be a friend even!

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: This ties into what I said about the OOC purpose as well. You're there to teach newer players ICly. Like a CMO would teach an intern, or a HOS showing a cadet the ropes. When you're not doing that, you're driving the story on shift, be it with antags or the crew themselves. Making things interesting for as many as you can. 

Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Well as I've been playing Unathi a LOT recently, I've heard about these ghost ships floating around in space. So it would be safe to say, my wanting to be CE, Sa'tak would be rather careful about his trips between Tau Ceti and Unathi space. Extra time spent traveling, making sure him and his clan stay safe!

What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Chief of Engineering

Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Na'Szar Sa'Tak - Chief Engineer

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I'd give it a solid 7/10. I like to stay humble. 

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes, I was made very aware of this. 

Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I have. 

Extra notes: I know I screwed up in the past. But my mistakes are what make me human. I learn from each one, and move forward. I'm asking that I be given the chance to do so. Thank you for reading!

I think enough time has passed since the strip of said whitelist, and Shadow has devoted a large amount of his time to the Server (not only in playing, but moderating as well). 

I believe he can easily handle this whitelist, and I would like to see how he fairs in his trial.

Cool bloke both IC and in our OOC interactions. Would be interested to see how Sa'tak would go as chief engineer. Even if our character have had "interesting" interactions in the past

As it stands you have a permanent jobban from prate which you got back in may, you mentioned the incident in your post.

This and your rather long list of notes and warnings make me extremely wary.

Which are completely understandable. I'm merely asking for a second chance to not only make better choices, but prove that I've bettered myself in my Command roleplay.

Hello. I've thought for a hot minute on what I wanted to say here since I didn't want to go on some superfluous tirade that was both extremely corny and long winded. I'll try to be to the point as possible.

There exists a handful of people on server with a "remarkable" history that I would be rather wary of putting in any kind of command situation. Shadow does not strike me as one of those people. Over the course of more contemporary discussions with him, I've gotten to know a pair of Shadow's characters through brief or lengthy interactions. I've become acquainted with their impressive standard for RP, their more lighthearted, risible activity in lulls of station activity, and also behavior regarding antags and conflict on server. I firmly stand on that front--Shadow makes for material to drive a round and engage properly with the Aurora's denizens.

I'm also of the mind to say that "self-penance" in disappearing from the server for a time as a direct consequence of committing a really erroneous mistake exemplifies character and remorse. Shadow has, in addition to this, shown me a lot of patience as I navigated through figuring out some kind of error (I spent about 10 minutes trying to fix his IPC with repairs that should've taken about 1 minute; I ahelped it to get back on track, Prate might remember that actually), which I think is also a rather fine trait to have for command staff.

Overall, I think Shadow deserves a second chance for command. However, I've in my possession one concern I want to air and seek awareness on. Sa'tak's behavior in general, from what I have personally garnered, might lean towards being more validhunt-y in nature. This is also a pretty common problem for unathi in general though from what I keep seeing, and Sa'tak also does not tend towards it as badly compared to other unathi, so I'm personally taking it with a grain of salt.

Anyway, I do have one question: what do you think you need to work on when it comes to roleplay?

To me, there is a never ending need to work on your ability to write, or RP. I see this constantly in myself. I think I need to personally spend a bit more time with my thought processes before commenting on certain things. Sometimes I'm too quick to say something. I've worked on my actions in this regard and take a few moments to consider my actions before I make them. It's what should have been done before when the incident with my Captain went down. 

Also I want to expand my word bank. I find myself sometimes using words that could easily be replaced with something a bit more complex. I love new big words. I know this may not make much sense, or sound like I'm legitimately dumb, but I LOVE learning new words or terms. When I hear someone use a word I'm not familiar with, I look it up as soon as I can. It's a slight fixation on knowledge.

P.S. As for the slight validhunt-y bits with Satak, I try to avoid conflict with antags as best as I can, unless pressed into a corner. I'm not sure in what you're referring to, so any reference would help with explanation.

I find that I agree with your own analysis. Being aware of your own shortcomings and that one can never not get better at roleplay are both good things. I too enjoy big words, so if you withhold any from me, I WILL show up to your house and demand you give them to me.

All in all, I would definitely trust you in a command role. Thanks again for your feedback and time for your reply.

Alright, I have spoken with other staff and we agreed that this application comes to soon.

While we understand your wish for a second try, and we are not directly opposed to it, given your recent history we feel like you should wait and be a bit more active in the community.

Should you be active and cause no issues then we will consider giving you another chance, until then I have to deny your application.
