DatSamTho Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Right now, afaik crawling is a thing you can do while: a) you use the "rest" verb b) I'm guessssing if your leg/foot is gone, since that makes you go horizontal, iirc. Right now, crawling is really just not worth it. Even when you have a broken leg/torn ligament, you move faster while not crawling, and if you are missing a foot or leg, you're not gonna be concious long enough to crawl anywhere. I think it would be neat to buff crawling to be faster than walking with a severe leg injury. (Maybe depending on the type of fracture?). It would also be beneficial, to change it, so that you can crawl with just your movement keys (as of now you need to drag your sprite onto the tile you want to go to.)
DronzTheWolf Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 I made a suggestion thread about this a while back that didn't gain traction, but it does have some useful information about how crawling works. The thing that makes crawling useless is the fact that if you can't walk, you can't crawl.

Carver Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 I've never understood the point of currently implemented crawling beyond avoiding lubed floors. Would think it'd be something you could do when you're in soft paincrit and can't walk, but no.

I don't even think it does that much. If you try to crawl on a space lube'd floor you still go flying. You're able to crawl under impassable flaps with it but honestly how many times has anyone ever used that? I personally don't ever use crawling for anything other than RP when my characters are really hurt, trying to move away from something (or someone) dangerous, or are just clumsy idiots tumbling over tables. Ducking under countertops and crawling to cover in a firefight, crawling away from cultists and mercs, etc. It would be nice if we could cut the action timer down by a few seconds or at the very least made it dependent on how many limbs/fractures you have.
Estoytrucha Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Actually I crawled on space lube the other day and it worked wonderfully. That's about it, though. Had a round earlier where Tabor had a completely wrecked leg and was bleeding out, unable to call for help, and crawling might have at least allowed him to get just a little closer to the airlock, you get me? He was conscious for the entire thing, just not able to move for most of it.
