What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Aqua for Leto

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

 

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

I find the sum of elements that make up Vaurca lore very interesting and engaging. The different broods and lesser queens are also very dynamic and interesting. I also enjoy the history and the themes associated with leaving the homeworld and associated loss of technology as long as the struggles to integrate with the other varied species in the spur. This provides a very interesting environment for Vaurca.

 

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

To begin with they have very different mechanics requiring Phoron instead of just being able to breathe in the air, which creates an immediate mechanical divide between them and other races. Socially and roleplay wise the loyalty to queens and the potential dynamic they have with each other is unlike anything that can be accomplished by playing a human. Finally Vaurca have a very different theme when it comes to having to abandon their home in search of somewhere else.

 

Character Name: Ka’Akaix’Silith K’lax

 

Please provide a short backstory for this character

Ka’Akaix’Silith K’lax otherwise known as Silith is a worker Vaurca underneath lesser queen Leto being used as a xenoarchaeologist. They have always had a fanactical drive towards the rediscovery of lost Vaurca technology believing that with it’s recovery they could reclaim what they view as the specie’s golden days. He idolises Doss’s theory of volcanic eruption and Doss themselves with an intense fervour which he uses to drive themselves forward in their work. When NanoTrasen was having a recruitment drive for science staff during the formation of the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate he was picked out due to this dedication to the unearthing of the past. 

 

They view themselves as dedicated and ambitious but have found that sometimes this can come off as self-important to others they have been working alongside in the field. To combat this Silith has been interacting more with members of other species to try to improve their perceptions and better understand them which they have found they can glean enjoyment out of. They often use time off of work to read novels from other races with a strong disconnect from reality which they believe is a good way to broaden one's horizons even if the magnitude of reading could come off as obsessive to some others.

I very much enjoy playing a character with strong drive towards work, who still has an interest in social interaction 

How would you rate your role-playing ability?:

I would like to imagine I am a reasonable role-player

I like that you're using some of the new lore, which isn't even a week old at this moment. Also that you're applying as K'lax, since that's probably the most negelcted Hive. With that in mind:

 

1. A theme laid down around various bits of the Vaurca wiki, most noteably the Sedantis page, is that Vaurcae are embarrassed of even conceiving the study of the pre Era of Augments. I wrote Doss with that in mind, so I'm wondering, how does Silith feel about the primitive Vaurcae?

2. If I recall correctly you told me your bug is around ten years old, which means that it actually was alive before they reached Uouea-Essa. What does Silith think about Unathi, and Tret?

3. K'lax is in a funny position when it comes to dealing with other Hives. They're stranged of Zo'ra and have a turbulent relationship with C'thur. What are Silith's personal thoughts on these, and how would it interact with other Vaurcae on station?

4. Finally, does Silith follow any faith? Vaurca society is very lax when it comes to enforcing religion, but atheists are mostly an odd concept. If they do follow a faith, how does it affect their life, if any?

Hello! Thanks for the questions!

 

1: Silith is of the belief that even as awkward as it can be to see where they once were, it's essential to know to help guide the future and as long as Doss who's teachings he idolises, venerates and whom he follows continues pushing boundaries they must have the right idea

 

2: Silith views Unathi as a necessary evil for the time being but silently decries what he views as their often outdated and backwards views towards historical preservation and augmentation as well as taking workers from what he thinks as more important tasks. As for Tret he believe that it isn't the ideal world but is still thankful that they were given somewhere to stay and grow.

 

3: Silithi is fine with the Zo'ra claiming to be the face of Vaurca as he views them as being in the best position to secure a good future for the Vaurca allowing the K'Lax to focus on what really matters and is somewhat jealous the C'thur have managed to secure what he views as the better position in the galactic community. As for how he'll interact with them, he maintains cordial and smooth relations with Zo'ra but often wants to prove himself better then those from C'thur.

 

4: Silith takes a somewhat strange view towards religion which aligns closest with a Classical Pantheon. He places a veneration on the queens abilities to bring life but also his queens most trusted disciples dedication to preserve and ultimately spread knowledge which he believes will one day elevate them back to being above even their past state.

1. An important aspect of Vaurcae culture is the caste system. What does Silith think, if they think anything, of their own caste, and the other castes? How do they see themselves in relation to the other castes?

2. Whether for good or bad, one of the other mechanical restrictions placed upon bugs is the avowal system. What are Silith's thought on having to get one?

1: Silith views the work of the Za as necessary for the safety of the archive but strongly belives the Ka are more important as they are the ones performing the "actual" work. They view the work they do as essential and important for the hive. 

 

2: The Viax are tools to Silith. Nothing more and nothing less. They have no strong opinions one way or the other and will utilise Viax when convinent.

 

3: Silith views it as completely unnecessary but reminds himself that aliens operate in vastly different ways and that not complaining will be the fastest track to get to working on something worthwhile.

 

4: They haven't had enough time or interaction to formulate a proper opinion yet but find it somewhat confusing overall.
