NotASpider Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 BYOND Key: Cooleosis Character Names: Sil Aclipsa, ANTI, Nova Swift, Opportunity, Trill, Shim Nari How long have you been playing on Aurora?: At least 9 months regularly, on and off for a lot longer. Roughly since Facepunch went down. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: Got a week ban, like, four years ago? For getting salty over antag shit. Obviously I’ve learned to take my 2d spehssmen less seriously since then. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? Facilitate good RP. That’s it. Heads of staff are unique in that their IC power puts them in the best position to do that, right up there with the round’s antags. The only difference is that a head’s influence on the round relies waaay more heavily on the player’s RP ability, whereas antags’ influence relies more on the player’s mechanical ability. The whole reason I’m applying is because I want to make the best possible RP for as many people as possible in each round and this is the best avenue for me since I’m so unrobust. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? The biggest responsibility is to RP in good faith and try to make sure other people do as well. I’m an AI player too and the worst possible thing anyone can do in a powerful position is escalate too quickly or start a validhunt, so avoiding that is a big one. Leading to responsibility #2 of trying to involve people in the story, a lot of which can be done just be asking people to do things or greenlighting projects. Another big one, for experienced players in general but whitelisties especially, is to accurately know the lore relevant to your character. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? You know what they say; never let a good crisis go to waste, and lately, there’s been plenty of crises to go around. 11 years ago when Sol lost the last of its grip on Tau Ceti, hopefully for good, Chris was in prime position to capitalize in more ways than one. Armed with a brand new business degree (from a company owned school) and the right connections (thanks to his company employed parents), all he had to do now was navigate through the corporate politics. Nowadays with the companies getting exponentially more power in the sector, the most that average people could hope for is to avoid getting stepped on as others climbed up. Only a select few are able to ride the wave upwards as well. The phoron ETFs also turned out to be extremely lucrative for both him and his family. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Head of Personnel, the only other command roles I’m interested in are Captain and CMO, but no plan for those currently. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yuh Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Chris Johnson, HoP Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yuh x2 Extra notes: Nada
whitewolftamer Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 While I can't say I've interacted with any of their other characters, I HAVE interacted with Sil Aclipsa, a character who I believe is incredibly well done and enjoyable to RP with. Though Sil did have a habit of making the medibots into cognitohazards they have rectified this and their RP more then compensates, throughout my interactions I have never doubted their competency mechanically, +1 from me
jrphoenix303 Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 I've had interactions with Sil - 13 hours ago, whitewolftamer said: making the medibots into cognitohazards - in the past, however despite ICly being annoyed I found it very funny OOCly. In the past little while, I've seen Opportunity as well as Sil around and they are played well. (Hi, I'm nymph 123 from yesterday.) Their characters are comprehensive, follow their own set themes and are reliable roleplay opportunities. I think even some of their characters could move up into head roles if given the chance. +1 from me at this point in time!
MattAtlas Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Trial started on 8DEC2021 and will end on 15DEC2021.

Outside of this, I felt they were slightly heavy-handed with removing even the illusion of choice from some crew members during the one round that I have seen them. I'd really like to see you around more but seeing as your trial is ending in less than a day I hope you can get more feedback. No -1 nor +1 from me at this point in time.
Flpfs Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 (edited) Leaving my -1 here. I've regularly seen your character on about four or five rounds, Sil Aclipsa, powergame and do chemistry as a physician. This wasn't even a one off thing, you once went as far as to make dexalin plus and peridaxon without being a pharmacist. If you can't obey one of the server's core RP rules, which is to not act beyond your character's IC capabilities even though you have OOCly knowledge, why should you be entrusted with a whitelist that grants you great power over other players? Edited December 15, 2021 by Flpfs changed the word "our" to "or"
Roostercat Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I have some apprehensions about Sil Aclipsa being a CMO. There have been multiple times where you have done chemistry as a physician, and your medical skill has also been in question, to the point where you were even asked to go back to intern for a while. I have not really seen Sil Aclipsa on much since then, so I don't think this jump to CMO is a good idea, so I'm not too confident previous issues have been fixed. Gonna' have to say -1 for this one.
Peppermint Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Watching Sil get drunk in the bar with only one med member about as someone was heavily injured is not a great look. Whilst this was before the trial started, still not something I'm keen to see going forwards for a CMO. Though perhaps your HoP play is better?
Faye <3 Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I didn't really care about this app before I knew Aclipsa would be CMO, but if she will be one I cannot endorse it. Sil has, on multiple occasions, gotten drunk and/or high as the only medical personnel on station. Getting inebriated like this is unacceptable for anyone in medical, let alone a CMO. It is not an uncommon occurrence to hear Sil slurring her words b/c she's gotten seriously drunk in the bar on an average round you play with her. I recall one time where she went so far as to inject herself with a syringe of vaguely labelled "torture chems" occasionally found in maintenance as the only doctor on the station. -1.
NotASpider Posted December 17, 2021 Author Posted December 17, 2021 mfw I try to promote Sil I guess I'm making a new CMO character, since I'm a medbay main and absolutely did not jive with HoP. Pretty much all the feedback I've gotten here is 'we hate Sil' and all the OOC behaviour complaints are from stuff I did months ago and don't do any more. Shoutout to phoenix though, that was very helpful.
Roostercat Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 Keep in mind this is feedback. We are not dogpiling you for no reason. people are -1ing your app because of things you have done as Aclipsa, which is who you primarily play, and those things are likely to carry along to any other character you create. Take care not to throw away negative feedback purely because it is negative, as that defeats the entire point of feedback.
NotASpider Posted December 18, 2021 Author Posted December 18, 2021 (edited) I disagree. Sil is a character, a character with plenty of flaws who's sometimes annoying and hard to deal with, one of many I play, so all the -1s about her specifically feel a lot like disliking an actor because they play a villain. Amplified by the fact that nobody seemed to care before I played two rounds of her as CMO. Not to mention literally none of the Sil feedback is from when I played her in command. You specifically mentioned off-roleing chemistry? That happened over half a year ago, now when playing Sil I specifically limit myself to the non upgraded 3 basic medicines and nobody has had a problem with it. I don't remember exactly when but my 'filling the fridge as physician' days were before this incident report, which is also why she was an intern for a week, not because my 'skill was in question'. She is my primary character, yeah, which also means I want her to go through the most development. Just like I've changed since this incident report I want her to as well.
