NebulaFlare
BYOND key:NebulaFlare Character names: Oh gosh, here we go: Lori Alvarez, Rose Watson, Karima Mo'Taki, Demitri Rota, Hawk Silverstone, Scarlet, Athena/DragonSnap, Valery Field, Shadow, Angelo Keratolli, some Taja officer whom I actually forgot the name of...I think that's all of em. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Quite some time now. I was with this community before Aurora existed. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I want to bring back my character, Lori Alvarez, who was Chief Engineer. It's not the same to have her as an engineer without connections among the Head of Staff. It would also be a boon when Revolution and Mutiny rounds go on, but not enough heads are available. In the future, I might also make other characters for other head roles. Why did you come to Aurora?: Because the people here are awesome! Is there any other explanation? Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yup. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is developing a character through a join effort with other players, creating a story to flow in a fictional setting. By developing, that means making them realistic within the setup enviroment. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To teach new players what is required and expected within the specific department, and monitor them to make sure they don't go out of their way to break rules. It is not to the levels of admin intervention, but the matters should be handled ICly. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: One of the prime responsibilities is to set a good example. Aurora is pretty heavy when it comes to serious roleplay, and if a head doesn't participate or act in accordance with what is expected, it reflects back to the rest of the community. There is a sense of responsibility with head roles - it's not just about getting fancy new toys to play around with. A head has to be patient with players who sincerely want to learn, and they should take action when someone causes trouble. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name:Lori Alvarez Character age: 32 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Lori Alvarez is a graduate of New London University, first entering her career in NanoTrasen as a response Engineer. Her knowledge specializes in assessing situations and fixing the damages quickly, using what she has on hand to protect the station and its crew. Early in her career, she lost her arm in a freak accident, having it replaced with a prosthetic limb. It presented complications for her, but Lori was stubborn and did not want to turn away from the career she loved. At first, she was not at all interested in gaining the extra responsibilities that came with a head role, but as she found herself taking charge more often than not, and being viewed as a senior engineer, she eventually decided to go through the process to apply for Chief Engineer. She found herself to enjoy the position, although she doesn't aspire to be of any higher rank. She is still registered as an ERT engineer, but has begun looking for a less stressful position. What do you like about this character?: She's strong-willed and spontaneous. If she believes a wrong needs to be made right, she will go out of her way to make it so. Her first priority will always be people's lives, and she has dove head-first in risky situations to rescue someone who needed it. She was my very first character way back when, and is ICly good friends with my other two main characters (Rose Watson and Karima Mo'Taki). What do you dislike about this character?: She has a paranoia for AI. An AI was the reason why she lost her arm, and although losing an arm was more favorable than losing her life, she could never get over the idea of a self-aware machine that required laws to be kept in place, yet had control of the entire station she works on. Unlike Karima, who can see the beauty of machines, Lori doesn't like machines that talk back. She works with machines, and to her, they are tools. She has a difficult time seeing eye-to-eye with IPCs. She tries her best to be accepting, but it's not easy for her. Also, I haven't played her for a very long time. So it'll be tricky for me to peg down her personality again. Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff?: Yes indeed. Why?: She takes her job seriously. She's responsible, patient, and direct. She won't be pushed around, and can establish authority. As much as she hates it, she'll do paperwork. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I don't like to rate my own roleplaying abilities, but I believe I do pretty okay. I may go a little snowflakey at times...(Lori has purple hair) but I try my best to keep it within the limit. Extra notes: Link to comment
Killerhurtz
+1. I never expected Dragonsnap and Mo'Taki to be from the same user. There's a stark contrast between them - Mo'Taki, I felt, was sort of a more nervous and secluded character who was proud but probably hurt inside while Dragonsnap was what a butler would be if it was a borg - polite, useful and very non-intrusive. Overall, I trust entirely NebulaFlare in their application for a white list, and am certain that Lori will be able to reach Nasir Khayyam in matters of CE reputation. Link to comment
mrimatool
Right here we are. I've known Nebs for years now and quite honestly back on Apollo she got a lot of slack from a lot of people so I tended to criticise her a lot more. Back then Nebs would often ask my opinion, maybe because I gave more honest criticism idk. But Nebs is one of those roleplayers I'm glad I got the chance to roleplay with. While a pain in the ass( she's an engineer what do you expect) Lori Alvarez is a pretty good chief engineer, a bit soft on her team at times but still a pretty solid one. Nebs is responsible, a good Roleplayer and all round a sensible player +1. Last thing Nebs, you kinda dodged the how long question xD Link to comment
NebulaFlare
Tis true, Tool. I like constructive criticism. I may seem soft on engineers, but that is because I want to garner their trust. You can't treat engineers the same way as the rest of the crew. You gotta admit, we have an ego - we're the damn heroes of the station, 86% of the time. While a pain in the ass( she's an engineer what do you expect) Aww, thank you! :3 I try my best. Link to comment
swat43
I will ya a nice +1 even though the old system is old, but hey, i have roleplayed with ya, liked your characters and enjoyed talking to them. Giving you a nice approval on headlists would already prove that you are ready to be just a mere person but a person with purpose to help others achieve something higher in time. If you do become a head, always get ready for the unexpected, and know that it is a hard work, but knowing you, i am sure you will deal with it with no trouble. Link to comment
PoZe
Well, when i have joined to the server and i was playing as Dmytro the first person who was really nice to me was Nebula's Tajaran officer and Nebula says that it's cannon that she saved Dmytro Once on the extended, not even once. Now i have seen Mo'Taki to as one of the best robotics. DragonSnap is very nice android/IPC, it's really interesting that Mo'Taki created DragonSnap chasis from what she had . So would say +1 of course. Link to comment
Gollee
+1 I greatly enjoy roleplaying with all of Nebula's characters, and with her CE when we played on an older server, a very nice character, and a nice person in OOC. Link to comment
nanotoxin
she returns! Nebula's one of my favourite players on the station, and is one of the people of whom I try to learn from the most. Looking forward to having her around again. Link to comment
PoZe
Now I would add to my post that right now I am having awesome RP with Nebula as IPC love between Skyline and DrqgonSnap. Nebula has high RP level, higher then mine of course)) Her Rp ad an IPC the best that I have seen. I am glad that first person that I have met when just joined were Nebula. Link to comment
Hartburry
Gosh, Nebula is a great player. She is one of the best players on the server. Able to make IC and OOC connections instantly with anyone who plays with her. Hakra wouldn't have been the same character if he hadn't met Karima Mo'Taki. I am pleased to see you return. Rusty Shackleford
Nebs is the best. She's pretty much the only person ever to make an ubersnowflake character and then get me to like them. All of my yiss. Link to comment
Loow
Nebula is one of those players whom I saw back when I first joined Aurora and said "Golly gee, I hope I get to RP that good some day! ....O-Or at least RP with them." I've been here a few months and guess what? I've gotten to RP with most of those cool peeps. Here's some praise that's been a long time coming. A chance to say thank you to one of the character builders who inspired me to step up my game. Nebula's RP is great. I've had a bit of interaction with Karima and It's always been a pleasure. I've recently had the opportunity to have quite a bit of character building, synthetic on synthetic, high quality RP with DragonSnap. She did an excellent job of RPing a synthetic who had (in my opinion) experienced many of the same things as other IPC's and processed these experiences in ways that I had not seen before and did so with a quality that pushes me to better my own RP. Nebula does not just RP well. She inspires players to RP up to her level in the future. Example: Her RP inspired the Mo'Taki characters we now know and love who (in my opinion) also stand as prime examples of high quality RP. If anyone can make a good character to act as a believable Head of Staff, it is Nebula. Nebula is going to play this character. And we are all going to like it. And we are all going to grow from it. +1. Link to comment
