How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since late 2019 to Early 2020, with breaks in between
Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?

I've received a warning for poor antag play in the past. The Warning was acknowledged and I've learned since then to provide more unique and interesting situations.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?

In my mind, Heads of Staff are the glue that keeps departments held together and working at peak efficiency. Delegating tasks and communicating with the rest of the station in addition to command help provide for a more engaging RP experience, in addition to the mechanical benefit of knowing what needs to be done to keep a department maintained, whether that's making sure medications get made, giving feedback on a more ideal engine setup, or issuing warrants. For Captains and Heads of Personnel, this is doubly amplified, as they have an entire station of players that they need to work to bolster the experience of. At the end of the day, Heads are important because of the large impact that they have on player experiences. A good head of staff can easily make a round.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:

I'll provide an answer for both Command whitelists and species whitelists, as I think the two variations have different responsibilities to the player base, though all whitelist holders should act as an example for the community both in and out of character. I firmly believe that the Command whitelist should be a high standard to maintain, you should know how to roleplay, and you should especially know not to abuse the in game authority that the whitelist provides. A lot of players look to Command in order to set the standards of the community. As for Species whitelists, I firmly believe that it is important to create an immersive experience with the amount of lore you have access to. HRP is at it's best when players feel like they're really interacting with the setting.

Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career?

The big thing everyone is talking about right now is the IPC riots on District Eight, this, coupled with the recent troubles in the Reconstruction Zone, has led to Eniola being far more stringent with assignments. She worries that any slip-ups will lead to an incident and cost her the position she's worked all these years to achieve. At work, she's taken to triple checking all records brought to her, and she has marked anyone faithful to the Trinary Perfection as 'special interest'. Her already low regard of free positronics has only been worsened with each update from the Bugle.

What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?

I plan on playing Head of Personnel, Head of Security. Those are the departments that I have the most experience in, and feel the most comfortable playing. I would also like to eventually branch out to Chief Medical Officer and Chief Engineer as I gain more experience with the two departments.

Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?

I have, in particular the entries on Head of Security and how the role interacts with the rest of Command. I am confident that I have enough experience with Security itself, but it's always good to refresh on those proper procedure and Corporate Regulations.

Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.:

I am hoping to play Markava Zhao as a Head of Security, she is a former member of the Dominian Navy looking to get away from the intrigue of the Empire for a few years. For the Head of Personnel role, I have created a new character by the name of Eniola Sarr, a Suit who cut her teeth doing HR for Zeng-Hu on her home planet of Amon. She is a very corporate-oriented person who prioritizes keeping her ledger black above anything else.

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?

Absolutely.

Have you linked your byond account to the forums?

I have, yes

I am excited for a suit, and I have seen Zoey and Anastasia personally

what is most important is of course their OOC and LOOC etiquette.

They seem to be very kind as a player and I have faith in their ability to approach more mechanically and Roleplay heavy sectors.

I would like to see them cut their teeth on this.

I've been in the same round with Zhao a few times. She really knows her stuff, and PsychoticCone does make a genuine effort to help newer players both IC and OOC. I do recall they're explained a few things to me LOOC as I try to learn how to play. I'll add a +1.

Roleplay wise, I think Cone, the applicant, is fine. My interactions with their HoS have been satisfactory and they roleplay the character well. I will however say that they have a tendency to frontline as HoS which I have seen get them killed a few times, such going in first with only a carbine to take on an antag threatening a bomb while wielding a PEAC, which then resulted in their HoS dying due to being exposed to the vacuum from the resultant explosions. It could be argued that more could have been done to save the HoS but a rational command member should not put themselves into that kind of risky situation to begin with unless it is a desperate last resort. I understand this can be just part of the transition between playing other sec roles and playing HoS, which is why I'm not going to -1 this application, but I will point out that this kind of gameplay needs to be fixed if the applicant is to be a consistently competent command member. This is my only criticism of Cone's roleplay and gameplay atm and aside from it, I think they'd be an acceptable command player.

Zhao has been entertaining to talk to. I have spoken with them several times and they are well acquainted with the server lore, and good roleplaying practices. They've also been good at understanding station procedure and corporate regulations.

You've been playing as the HoS, which is the role that requires the most tactical and strategic knowledge of combat and crisis management. If you were playing HoP, CMO or any other command role, it'd be fine, but you must pay attention to the mechanics of the game itself and how things play out in-game when you engage in combat.

I've seen you die two consecutive rounds, with the rest of the team staying alive and finishing the job. Since you're very important (can open armory, call evac, status alert etc) and the leading figure for the team, your death will often throw the rest of sec and the station into disarray. Combat as the HoS is not forbidden by any means, but make sure you are very confident in what you are doing before you engage in firefights. I'll now give you some specific feedback on the two consecutive rounds I have observed you for, both ending in your death but with the rest of security managing to capture the antags or secure the station.

The first one was with engaging the armed traitor in maint. You should never ever engage in super heavy firefights there. He was carrying a rifle and had the drop on everyone. Unless there is a super critical reason or you have confidence in capturing them, you shouldn't wander into maint due to its super narrow corridors, darkness, maze-like layout and the presence of hazards such as windows to space, poor ventilation and fuel tanks. While that makes firefights way more lethal, it applies to both sides.

About the other one where you got slammed with a PEAC, make sure to wear proper equipment for firefights like specific armor. You should always make sure to know where the enemy is and what they are doing, along their equipment. If I was correct, a firefight broke out in the cargo warehouse and things exploded leading to a lot of deaths (i think it was monkeys with bombs on them?) Again, you are not always in a hurry. Don't be afraid to retreat if a situation gets bad or you don't know what you are going into. You outnumber the antag, and they are the ones who have to result to guerilla warfare and hit-and-run tactics, not you.

Concluding, I don't have an issue with you and I think you're a good roleplayer. Just make sure to get more acquainted with the mechanical aspects of the HoS role specifically and how certain situations play out, and I am sure you will be fine. Don't let stress get to you in bad situations and remember that as security, you likely always have the field advantage.

With that said, I'll be dropping my +1, you'll learn with time and make a good commander.
