Colfer Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 This suggestion asks what it says on the tin, clicking a pAI device asks if you really want to be a pAI, if you say yes then it asks what your name will be, then places you into the pAI after finalizing your name. Bad things that could happen with this suggestion: I dont know, the pAI in the research directors office comes alive or something and acts like a radio host? You wipe/shoot/break a pAI device and it comes back to life immediately (With no memory of the event mind you, since a pAI would not remember anything after literal death) This also isn't really much of a problem, because practically any issue that would arise from it would be a player issue, and possibly rule breaking.
Zelmana Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 I don't like this. A pAI should be requested. If not, it's just an enhanced drone slot that can also now speak, use radio, and other shit. I don't mean this to be offensive, but why don't you play actual characters? Drones hardly do anything to enhance the round. If this is implemented it is a stepping stone between Drone and Cyborg. Just play a bot.

Just play a bot. pAI's do not even have 1/1 billionth of the power that a drone or cyborg does, saying they are an "Enhanced drone slot" suggests they can do literally anything that a drone could do. pAI's do not infact have even a single hand to interact with the world, they are a mobile voice that can send people DM's and read out heartrates, that's about it. I absolutely do not understand how they could be even closely compared to them, as even a spider bot can do more. 4 hours ago, Zelmana said: Just play a bot. If I play a cyborg with pAI gimmicks, then I may have to abruptly stop the gimmick I'm doing to deal with an antags wacky zany antics. Since, as stated, pAI's do not even have 1billonth of the power that a drone or cyborg does, that means I also do not have the same responsibilities as them. If I play IPC I could get converted by cultists, or killed/taken hostage by traitors, EMP'd by somebody intentionally or unintentionally. 4 hours ago, Zelmana said: why don't you play actual characters? Because the pAI gimmicks I have in mind are what I want to do. I have fun doing them. I do not have fun playing anything other than drones, cyborgs and AI's. All in all, I do what I want to do. And I dont see how thats relevant to this suggestion. Edited June 4, 2022 by Colfer
witchbells Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Most servers actually already have this feature. This would just be QoL feature and bring us up to speed with everyone else.

Aurora has had problems with problematic ghostroles before, see : Rats. It got so bad we had to remove them. A pAI would be doubly as annoying as they have radio access. The only real people that really protected mice, er, "rats", were the people actually in on the gimmick. And even then, they were a slim minority. Most of the time, they annoyed people. Distracting people from actually roleplaying. At that point, it was an unanimous decision to remove them because nine times out of ten, they actually hindered roleplay than encouraged it. And in the other one out of ten time, is just some dude taking a rat as a pet. Which would eventually get killed by a janitor, making the whole damn thing moot anyway. Right now, it's a pretty good system of having to request a pAI to actually play the game. Because you'd have at least ONE person on station to go along with whatever gimmick you wanted.
