Sheeplets Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 You've done it. I've done it. Everyone's done it. You forgot to disable throw intent and you accidentally chuck whatever you're holding across the room. Best case scenario it's a a can of soda, worst case scenario you're in the middle of a firefight and you've just thrown your loaded rifle at John Sol. Goon Station has a similar system for this in place, you hold down the throw key to enable, let it go to disable. Maybe we can steal it from them.
Sneakyranger Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Hard pass. Holding down a key while doing an action has always been finnicky for me at the best of times, and at this point I'm used to toggle; given that I view this more as a preferences based change rather than a beneficial for all QoL change, I'm going to voice my personal preference as "no".
Sheeplets Posted November 6, 2022 Author Posted November 6, 2022 A preference option for it would be ideal, actually. Good idea.
Carver Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 If it wasn't a preference toggle I'd despise it thoroughly and never use the feature again. I don't want to hold down the END key just to throw things - and this makes clicking the icon in the UI worthless.

party Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 As someone who uses hotkey mode and constantly rolls his finger over R while trying to hit T to talk, an option in preferences to make throwing a key hold instead of a toggle would be a dream.
Zelmana Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Hold down a key? It's a button you press on the screen? I can't do that and click where I want it to go at the same time.

Please. that went over my head lol, sorry I think the UI and the hotkey can be separated however, UI toggle hotkey keep pressed, also I support the idea that it should be configurable
Fluffy Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 Implemented (with preference setting) in https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/16329
