Lmwevil Posted November 2 Posted November 2 We are in a new era of the game where players are WAY better than they were historically Sol is still one of the most important nations in the setting, and consulars cannot announce now. Also mods aren't chickenshit these days and will actually punish people. It's time solbros. Bring. Back. Sol. Consular. 10 1
FlamingLily Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Speaking from a narrative point of view, I think it makes a LOT of sense for Sol Consulars to come back. Sol has been on the path of recovery since KOTW recently, and with the wildlands gone and a formal Biesel/Sol border in existence, it would make sense that the two nations would want to rebuild diplomatic relations (especially with Sol's change of government) to avoid further conflict. Consulars (when done correctly) add a good piece of tension into the crew dynamic (eg: dominian or skrell consulars and synthetic crew) and I think solarian consulars have the potential to excel at this. 2
Fluffy Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Opposed, I do not want Yet Another Faction That Is Kinda Like Every Other One But Slightly Different™, especially if we have to neuter them even more - It's one of the few factions that truly feel different from the miasma of the other 547 "technically different on the wiki" ones, and we don't need more of those
Misiek1001 Posted November 2 Posted November 2 I think, even narratively, it'd make sense to bring Sol Consulars back into the fold. The Alliance is getting back to being, y'know, an Alliance. The government seems a lot more stable, I wouldn't see it past them to try to reach out diplomatically to their own citizens aboard SCC ships and such after the latter likely lost a lot of faith in them. 2
Shimmer Posted November 2 Posted November 2 If Sol consulars come back I'm immediately making one But also, just bring them back. It's time, and Sol is currently the only faction that isn't represented in any way on the Horizon. It's weird, with how many Solarians are aboard, that they have no way to contact their own government. 1
ben10083 Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Eh, it hasn't been too long since Sol... nationalized most of the SCC/respective company assets. Even if Sol has 'changed', I imagine that is a major point against Sol getting a presence on SCC ships/stations

The human factions are all very different from each other and produce very different types of characters. You cannot honestly tell me that a consular character from a noble family from Dominia, a PhD Galatean from the CoC, and a middle-class diplomat from Elyra are all the same. They have very different goals on station and present themselves in their own unique way. The other strange thing that this post implies is that allowing consulars to be from Sol is somehow neutering them. Nothing about the greater lore is changing. The only thing that bringing back Sol consulars would imply is that relations with Biesel/the SCCV have cooled down since the invasion—which objectively have cooled down. I simply do not see how reallowing Sol Consulars would neuter them or somehow contribute to all factions feeling samey on the ship. If anything, it should do the opposite—players will see how this illiberal semi-militarized democracy (a situation no other faction is remotely similar to) is presenting itself to the SCCV and the wider Spur generally. 2
