Basic Information

Byond Account: Dea Tacita

Character Name(s): Atalanta Cascadia, Zelda Hyvarinen, Fortuna Octavianus, Bat-Tziyon Sobol, Aludra Buthaynah, Carthage Graham, Farai Themba, Temple Zorion, Ursula Krijger, Viisi Sonhadra, Nova Vita, Io Kaas, Gwawrddyd Anwyl and Sujal Ho'ti.

AI Name(s): None

Preferred means of contact (specify a program/means, exact details can be requested/provided through private channels): Skype preferably

Age: 29

Timezone: GMT +2

When are you on Aurora?: Whenever I can be, though I have doctors appointments usually 2-3 times a week which take up a couple of hours

Experience I’ve Moderated/Admined on, Aurora, Janus, Minerva, Athena and a number of other serves whose name escapes me.

How long have you played SS13?: 10+ years

How long have you played on Aurora: Almost a year I believe

How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: 99% of it, though I'm a little rusty

Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Extensive

Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Not on Aurora

Personality

Why do you play SS13?: Honestly, because I have a rather somber life (especially recently). SS-13 provides a somewhat more optimistic environment which contains people that I rather like more than most. It’s also a game that really doesn't have much of an equal, not for free anyway.

Why do you play on Aurora?: Because of the previously mentioned awesome people that I’ve come to think of as my friends. That along with it being of the best places left to roleplay in.

What do moderators do?: a Moderator’s job, at least in my experience is to provide a conducive environment for the type of experience that the playerbase is looking for, in this case roleplaying. By assisting players by providing any information that they need such as guides, or how to do something, or by moderating the player base itself and limiting activity that disrupts that environment such as an especially badly roleplayed character, or deliberate actions meant to disrupt that environment like “Griefing”.

What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Moderating Aurora means helping a community that’s different than most other SS-13 Servers. One of the last great RP servers around, it is helping to provide an experience that people enjoy, and that people will remember.

Why do you want to be a moderator?:Moderating Aurora means helping a community that’s different than most other SS-13 Servers. One of the last great RP servers around, it is helping to provide an experience that people enjoy, and that people will remember.

What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?:I want to be a moderator because Aurora means something to me, it’s the final great RP server in a series of disappointments which have gradually numbed me to SS-13, It’s an island full of welcoming and fun people in a sea of acid. I’ve been on SS-13 for longer than most people have, and Aurora’s never really had an equal, at least not to me. And It’s meaningful to me to be able to help keep that around, even if all it means is helping people have fun one night at a time.

What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: Experience is likely my defining quality, though I also think I’m somewhat friendly, and to a degree professional. Admittedly I don’t particularly take criticism well, but I’m endeavoring to improve that.

How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I get as frustrated as anyone else who’s ever moderated, but I’d never allow that to spill over and yell at anyone or anything. Overall, I think I’d say I handle it decently and professionally

Anything Else You Want to Add:

I’ve moderated for Aurora before and it was a pleasant experience, in an amazing community which I sadly had to resign from. It’d be a joy to be allowed to go back to what I like doing ^_^

I am going to have to say -1, throughout her time on the lore team, myself and the other lore devs had problems with Dea keeping things to herself, up to and including getting upset when something was put up that conflicted with something she was writing in secret.

If she can deal with this issue, then I am happy to revoke my complaint.

I can't dispute this at all. I honestly wasn't a very good lore developer at all, getting very emotional and essentially being childish towards some things that didn't warrant that at all. But In my defense, most of my previous time on the lore team was a time in-which I was extremely emotionally unbalanced due to a rapid-fire series of medical issues that hit me and depressed me a great deal. I apologize sincerely to you Gollee, I respect you immensely and I didn't treat you nor any of the other lore developer (Table, Rusty, Nik, Erik) in a way they deserved, though I might not have had the smoothest relationship with all of you, I truely consider all of you my friends and deeply regret my idiotic behavior.

I've gotten beyond the "Emotional" stage and am on several medications meant to balance out my psyche, and I wish everyone to know I am fully capable of cooperating in the moderator team in manner that would better the server for our players. I think anyone that I've trial-modded with can back me on that.

I still don't believe that Dea should be included with staff again. The experience I had left a very bad taste in my mouth, and so far, all I've seen of her is a couple of forum posts and an occasional comment in OOC, which doesn't really go very far in dispelling my earlier notions of unreliability and emotional turbulence.

Well, as for me being on often. I've had certain extenuating circumstances that've made my time recently limited which I've already cleared with Frances. We also live half-way around the world from each other, so it's not totally unexpected that we wouldn't see each other on often. But yes, you do have a point with the emotional turbulence, but as I replied to Gollee's comment, I'm certain I've overcome that by this point.

How did you act whilst you were part of the administrating team previously? Do you feel you have fixed any problems that you had previously in that position, and how have you fixed them?

Do you feel that you would be able to gel with members of server staff?

What comes to mind when you hear the term 'Fair Administrator'?

How did you act whilst you were part of the administrating team previously?

I might have had the occasional moment of bad judgement as a moderator previously, but I think I generally did a good job as a moderator. As previously said, I did have some emotional turmoil during that time, but these moments certainty weren't random and were generally justified. Other than that, I don't recall any complaints about me, but I probably could've done the notes a little better and in a bit more detail.

Do you feel you have fixed any problems that you had previously in that position, and how have you fixed them?

I certainly fixed my emotional issues with equal parts medication and talks with people that I think of as close to me, many of which play here. And I've already begun to make notes more in-depth and explanatory in their nature during my time as a trial moderator.

Do you feel that you would be able to gel with members of server staff?

If "Gel" means "get along with" or something of that manner, I am confident I'd be great with other members of staff, I have a personal, friendly relationship with most of the staff members and i get along with all of them rather well. Even if I have a negative opinion of the individual, the administrative setting is hardly a place for that to be displayed, It's a professional setting and I'd handle it that way.

What comes to mind when you hear the term 'Fair Administrator'?

Someone who handles situations appropriately, not dealing out "punishments" in excess of what the particular event 'deserves'. And someone who realizes when their personal interests or feelings conflict with that of the server and or the administrative team and exempts themselves from that situation, allowing other staff which're unbiased to handle the issue appropriately.
