RustingWithYou Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Hephaestus celebrates two months since end of recession! The Price of Victory, Article 1 Translated to Tau Ceti Basic A formal announcement from Guildmaster T’zakal today celebrated that it has been two months since Hephaestus Industries bailed the major Hegemonic Guilds out from the edge of bankruptcy, bringing an end to the recession that the phoron crisis has brought to our nation and the rationing we were forced to endure. To honour this celebration, Hephaestus granted a bonus to all of its employees within the Hegemony, with Guildmaster T’zakal stating that “what we have done is as much thanks to you as it is to myself or Aeson” in an internal company memo. Hephaestus goods and services within the Hegemony, including those provided by a subsidiary guild, are also available at up to 50% off for the day, in honour of the hard-working spirit of the Sinta’Unathi people. This event was also marked by the opening of a long-awaited Hephaestus project in the Southlands, the Jaz’zirt Regional Fusion Plant - set to provide power to a large portion of the Southlands, replacing various outdated, environmentally unsafe and inefficient power plants across the region. With the help of the most skilled engineers of Junzi Electric, now a proud subsidiary, construction on the plant was able to be finished months ahead of schedule, with a ceremony held earlier this morning as Overlord Miazso and Guildmaster T’zakal oversaw the plant’s activation. The regional grid of the Southlands is planned to fully switch to fusion power by the second quarter of 2466. However, not all are participating in this celebration, with some protests against Hephaestus taking place - primarily in the Southlands, with some being reported as far afield as Kutah and Darakath. Thankfully, none of these have devolved into the violent riots such as those that took place in New Skalamar and Jaz’zirt towards the end of the recession. A few nobles have supported the protestors, claiming that Hephaestus is seeking to take over the Hegemony - though these claims are unfounded, and hopefully they will realise the benefits of the relationship between our nation and the Hephaestus guild. RustingWithYou Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 Hephaestus Launches Sabotage Investigation The Price of Victory, Article 2 Hephaestus Industries announced today that a campaign of sabotage has been occurring against them - with valuable equipment across their operations being stolen, workers going missing, and several supply shipments reported to have been delayed. While initially, this was believed to simply be due to worker negligence or acts of piracy, Guildmaster T’zakal has released a statement that it is believed to be a targeted campaign of sabotage against their assets in the Hegemony, and that they intend to launch a full investigation to find those responsible and bring them to justice. Though the specifics of this information are, naturally, confidential, our sources report that it is a massive undertaking on behalf of Hephaestus, covering operations ranging from Moghes itself to the furthest reaches of Hegemony space. The office of the Hegemon issued a comment on the subject, stating that while this is largely a Hephaestus internal affair, the criminals responsible will be judged and punished under Izweski law, and that matters of such concern to the Izweski economy will be investigated by law enforcement as well. Currently, Lady Hizoni Izweski is believed to be spearheading the investigation from the Hegemony side of affairs, though far less resources have been dedicated to this than from Hephaestus. Speculation runs rampant as to who might be behind this sabotage - another corporation, Ouerean radicals, and Aut’akh cultists have all been considered as potential suspects. No concrete evidence has been turned up yet, however - and for now, all that can be done is to wait and see what the investigation uncovers. If you have any information of relevance to this recent campaign of sabotage, contact information has been attached for Hephaestus Internal Affairs, who are currently leading the way on this investigation. If you have seen or know anything about this sabotage, we encourage you to report it - so that the criminals responsible can be brought to justice quickly. While specific details were not made available to us, Hephaestus security personnel informed us that the investigation is proceeding promisingly, and the culprits are likely to be revealed within weeks, if not sooner. Hopefully, those responsible are found and brought to justice soon. As always, we will keep our readers updated on this investigation as it develops.
RustingWithYou Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Terrorists Attack Aeson In Southlands - “Champions of Moghes” Uncovered! The Price of Victory, Article 5 Panic gripped the Southlands today, as during the opening ceremony of the newly-opened Jaz’zirt Regional Fusion Plant an unknown Unathi assailant rushed onto the stage, breaking past security barriers, and killing one officer, to stab the CEO and former Guildmaster of Hephaestus, Titanius Aeson. Aeson was stabbed in the shoulder while he was giving his speech commemorating the opening. Quickly reacting to the assailant, Aeson defended himself by striking back, landing a powerful punch on the assailant's jaw, dislocating it and causing them to fall unconscious. Refusing all attempts by his security team to persuade him to leave, Aeson then finished the remainder of his speech, with the assailant's knife still in his shoulder. He has since been admitted to the Jaz’zirt House of Medicine hospital under heavy guard, where he is undergoing treatment. Guildmaster T’zakal has since visited him, confirming that he is in good health and “more annoyed than anything; he got blood on his suit”, before quickly heading to the local Hephaestus branch office to assist in identifying the assailant. Said assailant has been taken into custody by Miazso bannermen who have been deployed to keep order, and the region surrounding the plant is on lockdown as a hunt for possible collaborators begins. The power plant remains inactive, as the staff have been cleared out to check for any potential sabotage, and will likely remain so for at least a day. Hephaestus Industries has made a public statement, announcing that their speedy investigation, combined with testimony from the captured assailant has uncovered those responsible - a radical organisation calling itself the “Champions of Moghes”, dedicated to opposing the guild’s presence in our nation through acts of violence, sabotage and terror. Though the situation in the Southlands is currently unstable, with blackouts and panic meaning that it is difficult to contact our correspondent, we were able to gather that both Hephaestus and the Overlord were sent messages from this group claiming responsibility for this act of terror. In response to their CEO being attacked, Hephaestus has stepped up its security efforts across Moghes, with warriors of the Fighters’ Lodge being deployed across the planet to protect sites of interest. Izweski bannermen have also been deployed to some of these facilities, particularly those of national or economic importance. Reports from Ouerea also indicate that the mercenaries of the Dagamuir Freewater Private Forces have been hired en masse by Hephaestus to shore up their security, and ensure that any further attacks cannot occur. Hephaestus has also announced that it will continue to send the pay of the officer who was killed by the assailant to their clan for an indefinite period, to ensure that they will not suffer financial hardship during this difficult time. We at Sinta Articles offer our condolences to the clan of the deceased, and our prayers to CEO Aeson for a speedy recovery. May they find peace in the world beyond this one. As this situation develops, we will keep our readers updated - and we offer our hopes that the atrocities of this terrorist organisation are soon brought to a permanent end. 5
RustingWithYou Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Aeson’s Condition Worsens, Concerns Rise For Hephaestus The Price of Victory, Article 6 Dire news has come from the Southlands, as it appears that Titanius Aeson’s condition has worsened significantly since the attempt on his life by the so-called “Champions of Moghes”. Our correspondent in Jaz’zirt was not allowed to visit the CEO, with House of Medicine doctors informing us that Aeson “is in poor condition, and requires rest”. We were able to gather that after arriving at the hospital, Aeson’s condition worsened rapidly - and were it not for the peerless skill of the doctors present, he may well have died before anyone realised the extent of his wounds. Though the assassin’s strike seemed to be relatively harmless - only wounding Aeson in the shoulder - the House informed us that further analysis revealed the blade to be coated in a currently unidentified toxin. With the knife left in the CEO’s shoulder for the remainder of the speech before he was taken to hospital, the poison was given time to spread - though he seemed in fine form, Aeson was apparently close to death by the time he reached the hospital. We are informed that the poison has been purged, and that Aeson will likely make at the very least a partial recovery - though there remains some level of risk. Hephaestus itself seems to be greatly concerned, with Guildmaster T’zakal having departed Uueoa-Esa to an emergency board meeting in Mendell City earlier today. What they intend to discuss is sealed, though likely it involves the murderous actions of these so-called "Champions", and plans for choosing a new CEO should the worst come to pass. We at Sinta Articles wish Aeson a swift recovery, and wholeheartedly condemn the cowardice and dishonor shown by these terrorists in their poisoning of the CEO. May they be brought to face the Hegemon’s justice swiftly.
RustingWithYou Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 (edited) Izweski Raid On Terrorist Headquarters - Ringleaders Captured! The Price of Victory, Article 7 Breaking news from the Heartland today, as Izweski bannermen launched a raid shortly after midnight on a warehouse in S’th, revealed in an official report to be a headquarters of the Champions of Moghes. It is unclear where the intelligence on the warehouse was gained, but rumours speculate it came from the captured assailant who assaulted Hephaestus CEO Aeson. With the aid of several K’laxan Warriors, the Izweski agents were able to breach the warehouse’s main doors, catching the terrorists by surprise. Some of them attempted to flee, but most were captured on the scene or by the S’th City Watch, who had encircled the building ahead of time. The self-proclaimed Champions were reported to be armed with largely imported weaponry - several human-manufactured laser rifles as well as what appeared to be imported Tajaran military surplus, likely shipped in by smugglers or some other criminal organisation. The warriors and agents were bolstered by members of Hephaestus’ security force, who were in an advisory role, bringing specialist equipment to assist in breaching the building. The breach itself took the form of collapsing the warehouse's eastern wall, by use of demolition charges, before entry was made by heavily armoured Watchmen. A brief fight ensued, but with the terrorists off-guard and unprepared, it was over quickly, with few casualties and no deaths among the attacking force. Lord Karkartus visited the scene personally after the fighting, taking the time to individually congratulate warriors and agents on their performance, and give his thanks to the Hephaestus advisors. The terrorists are currently imprisoned in S’th, awaiting trial under the jurisdiction of Lord Karkartus. Among those captured are believed to be the three leaders of the so called “Champions” in S’th, who organised the attack on Aeson, and their capture delivers a serious blow to the terrorist organisation. Though we will have to wait and see, it is likely that they will face execution after being interrogated for information; as materials found in the warehouse included firearms, explosives and blueprints of various Hephaestus facilities - clear proof that further attacks were planned. The facilities were all located in the city, and have since seen a reinforcement in security as a precaution incase of other terrorists still roaming free, though both the city watch and Hephaestus discount the possibility. While it is uncertain if this was the organisation’s main headquarters or merely the headquarters of a single cell, at the very least it seems that one of their plots has been foiled. We will keep our readers updated as the situation develops - and we offer our thanks to the brave warriors who took down this terrorist cell before they could launch their attack. RustingWithYou Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Terrorists Strike Again - Demands Revealed! The Price of Victory, Article 8 The organization known as the Champions of Moghes has struck again, barely a week after the raid on their cell in S’th! A Hephaestus convoy carrying millions of credits’ worth of industrial equipment to mines in the Tza Prairie was attacked on the road by a group of heavily armed Sinta, who stole the cargo and recorded a message, which was later sent to Sinta Articles anonymously via the Extranet - though law enforcement is working hard to trace it. The message is attached. We do not condone the contents of this message, but believe that it is our journalistic duty to publish it regardless. The individuals depicted in this message are criminals, terrorists and traitors to the Hegemony, and we hope that they are soon captured and brought to justice. Tau Ceti Basic subtitles have been included for our interstellar readers. Quote A grainy and low-quality video is attached, showing what looks like an empty road in the mountains, with a large truck bearing the logo of Hephaestus Industries in-frame. An Unathi man in a Hephaestus uniform, presumably the driver, is bound and gagged, lying on the ground next to his vehicle. There is a sudden blur of movement, as if whoever was holding the camera stumbled, and several muffled curses in Sinta’Unathi before the camera focuses again. An Unathi carrying a laser rifle is standing in front of the truck, face obscured by a simple cloth mask. They are dressed simply, yet practically - an ordinary tunic and traveller’s cloak shroud them. After a moment, they speak in Sinta’Unathi, Tau Ceti Basic subtitles floating across the bottom of the screen. They seem to have what sounds like a Tza accent. “You have heard of us from the mouths of Hephaestus, and those who dedicate themselves to bowing and kissing their rings. Now hear the truth. We are the Champions of Moghes - who have sworn to defend the Sinta people from the grasping and poisonous abomination that writhes in our midst - the alien tyrants of Hephaestus Industries who would make slaves of us all. ‘Alien No More’, they proclaim, but even a child would know that for the lie that it is. They serve the interests of foreign masters, human masters - and the destiny of the Sinta people belongs to no hands but our own! If Not’zar Izweski would bow to this scum, he is unworthy of being called Hegemon, and he will be cast down! Most of you will dismiss this message, or hear of it through Hephaestus propaganda. To those of you who hear the truth in our words, find us! Join us! Together, we will build a future where the Sinta’Unathi hold our own fate in our hands, and the scum of Hephaestus and their collaborators are scourged from our nation forever!” The message ends abruptly. The driver, who wished to remain anonymous, was left alive, though the contents of the truck were stolen by this terrorist organization. Their beliefs are clearly delusional, and the Hegemon has wasted no time in declaring every member of this organization to be Guwan, and enemies of the Izweski. Analysis of the ‘Champions’ and their equipment shows that they seem to be well-armed and well-funded - suggesting powerful backers, likely enemies of our nation attempting to undermine it from within. Guildmaster T’zakal has issued a public statement that aside from criminal charges, association with the Champions will be considered grounds for immediate termination from Hephaestus or any subsidiary guilds, as well as making personal remarks on the dishonor and cowardice shown by these brutes. CEO Aeson was unavailable for comment, as he remains in hospital for further treatment. As always, we will keep our readers updated on any further developments relating to this matter. If you have any information relating to the Champions of Moghes or their activities, the office of the Spymaster has opened the following anonymous Extranet page to report suspected activity. May these criminals be brought to justice, and punished appropriately for their attacks on the honest and hardworking people of our great nation. Attached is a link to a Hegemony government website, where tips can be submitted relating to the activity of the Champions of Moghes, or any other anti-Izweski organization.
RustingWithYou Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 Aeson Leaves Hospital, Comments On Terrorist Epidemic The Price of Victory, Epilogue A source in the Jaz’zirt House of Medicine informs us that Hephaestus CEO Titanius Aeson was discharged earlier today, having mostly recovered from the attempt on his life by the terrorists calling themselves “Champions of Moghes”. We were initially unable to reach the CEO for comment, as his personal assistant informed us that he is still recovering from the extensive medical treatment he received. Aeson himself overruled this, however, and was able to give a brief statement to Sinta Articles. When asked about his recovery, Aeson said that “it takes more than some terrorist coward with a rusty knife to keep a Martian down”. Going into further detail, he condemned the deeds of the Champions, and said he was happy to hear about the raid in S’th, even if it seems that the organisation’s leadership is still on the loose. We asked Aeson for his perspective on recent events, to which he had the following to say. Quote “It’s a damn disgrace, is what it is. After all the Sinta people and Hephaestus have done for each other, we get these murderous thugs trying to bring that all down. Well I got news for whoever’s in charge there - Hephaestus is here to stay. You got a problem with that, you know where to find me - and show up yourself next time, instead of sending some brainwashed sap to do your dirty work.” Note - the above paragraph has been edited to remove several expletives in the interest of public decency. Bold words from the Hephaestus CEO - though if there is one thing that not even his worst enemies would criticize Titanius Aeson for, it’s lack of courage. Updates from the office of Guildmaster T’zakal informed us that while sabotage from the Champions is still ongoing, Hephaestus is taking steps to ensure that their critical role in our nation’s economy is not undermined by the efforts of honorless terrorists. We here at Sinta Articles are glad to see Aeson recovered, and though he reportedly will be undergoing physical therapy for some time he seems to be in fine form and ready to resume his work. As always, we will keep our readers updated on further developments. For Sinta news, Spur-wide, stick with the outlet you know you can trust. Stick with Sinta Articles. 1
Captain Gecko Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 Admirals meet with the Lord's Claws and the Hegemon himself to discuss piracy matters Translated into Tau Ceti Basic: Yesterday marked an exceptional day, as all three admirals of the Izweski Navy were gathered to discuss important matters. Lord-Admiral Yizarus of the First Fleet, Lord-Admiral Gour'za of the Second and Lord-Admiral Za’Akaix’Xitac K’lax of the Third and Fourth were all summoned to the Hegemon’s Palace to meet with Notzar Izweski in person, as well as Mizaruz Izweski, the Lord’s Claws. With the large majority of the first three fleets kept in extended defense duties around Moghes, many pirates were quick to use this as an opportunity to extend their operations. Reports of smuggled goods found have increased, as well as attacks on civilian ships, Unathite or otherwise. More importantly, multiple raids on Hegemonic colonies have been recorded. Despite the Fourth Fleet’s best efforts, they simply cannot keep up with the rising tide of pirate aggression. The point of this meeting was to find a quick solution to this growing issue. From revising the Hegemonic space battle doctrine to new spacecraft design, everything was brought up, but most of these solutions proved either too slow to implement or way too expensive. It would be the Admiral of the Fourth Fleet, however, that brought the most interesting solution. There are already many Unathi pirates that have sworn fealty to the Hegemony in exchange for their crimes to be forgiven, but they generally are used in very minor roles. Having worked with them in the past, though, Admiral Xitac proposed that these friendly pirates be used in more active roles, to fight minor threats such as lone pirate crews directly to allow Hegemonic ships to focus on larger threats, and to better integrate them into military strategy when facing greater threats. This suggestion wasn’t accepted without reserves. Many of these pirates follow their own codes and tend to not act with the same honor as proper soldiers. The Hegemon expects these pirates to be monitored more closely to avoid embarrassments, but overall, all members of the meeting see the small issues this option raises as worth it if it means better protecting the people of the Hegemonic colonies and securing space around it. 2
Captain Gecko Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Dionae migrants intercepted, concerns rise about the Tarwa Conglomerate’s forces Translated into Tau Ceti Basic: Early today, a patrol ship from the Izweski Navy’s Fourth Fleet encountered a surprising sight: a Voyager-type Diona vessel, seemingly built around what looked like the remains of Human-made ship. The ship counted five Cyclop forms, a single Cerberus, and two dozen Nymphs. Once intercepted by the Hegemonic sailors, they proved cooperative and explained that they originate from Rueltab I, a Solarian penal colony that previously mainly meant for Dionae, Having claimed to have been stunted from experiencing what the Spur had to offer, despite their remorse for the Rueltab Incident, they were able to flee from their entrapment and seek better opportunities elsewhere. While one might feel sympathetic to the Dionae’s circumstances, they had intended to bolster the ranks of the Tarwa Conglomerate. The Fourth Fleet quickly squandered any hope for such, detaining them to appear before a Lord Magistrate where ultimately their fate shall be decided. This is not an isolated incident. There have already been numerous reports over the last months of Gestalts spotted traveling towards the Badlands, with the same goal as today’s group. This led to questions rising about the actual means the Tarwa Conglomerate holds, as their numbers. Though the Conglomerate has remained distant from the Izweski Nation and its interest, the fact that it remains so far from the Hegemony’s borders, and how little is actually known about them led to many expressing concern about the threat they might represent, if not to the Hegemony itself, then to traders and allies operating near the large area they operate in. Though it is a Unathi fleet, it is known that the members of the Conglomerate use Dionae to some extent, in what ways exactly is unknown. Some can make theories, as Tarskin Tarwa, alleged founder of the fleet, used to work as a botanist within the Skalamar University Of Medicine on various projects, some considered unethical, such as his “Sinta-to-Dionae compatibility” experiments; it can be assumed that he continues his researches to this day within his fleet. Master of Rivers Azui Hutay’zai addressed this wave of Dionae migrants later today, coincidentally enough, in a public statement. Quote “Though the call of adventure and freedom may be enticing, this would not be worth the dishonor of associating with these pirates, no matter if one is of scales or bark. But it does not mean that there is no place for your kind in this sector. The Hegemony will welcome any Gestalt wise and honorable enough to join it. Moghes houses many already, and they are not only treated with the respect they deserve, but they are also working for an honorable- no, heroic cause: fighting the radiation of the waste, and reclaiming what once were hostile lands into livable areas once more. You have everything to gain from choosing the Hegemony over mere pirates, do not waste your existence, Dionae.” During his statement, Master of Rivers Hutay’zai also asked sailing Hegemonic citizens abroad to guide these Diona migrants to Moghes if ever encountered.
Captain Gecko Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Hegemon’s statement puts an end to heated debates around pirates in Zandiziite Games Translated into Tau Ceti Basic: Last week saw a debate take Moghes by storm, and mostly the Izweski Heartland. The question of allowing pirates to take part Zandiziite Games is not new, but as more swear fealty to the Hegemony, and more are allowed to step and even live on Moghes, it has become a more and more important topic to the people of the Hegemony. Many proved quite hostile to this idea, and not without reasons. Quote “Many of these men must have spilt the blood of Hegemonic citizens in their time. I can see the use in keeping them as lackeys for our navy, but letting them access our good games is one step too far.” Kowzu Uzenzuo, Teacher in the Skalamar University Of Medicine under the House of Medecine, in Skalamar Quote “They already have their own little codes of "honor" that they follow in their own ships, how can we expect them to follow ours, then? They risk dishonoring themselves, their fellow contenders, and the game themselves by being allowed to access the Zandiziite Games.” Uku Suoh, Reactor Engineer at Skalamar’s Light Bulb under Junzi Electric, in Skalamar Quote “I’m not entirely against pirates taking to the Zandiziite Games, but how many fleets are there? How many ships? How many clans? Accept one, and soon half of the game will be nothing but pirates fighting pirates!” Sorek Mituariz, Refinery Technician under the Miners Guild, in Imas’hi Those that proved more accepting of pirate Zandiziites also brought arguements to the table: Quote “Historically, politics have always been put aside during Zandiziite Games. Mortal foes became rival contenders, and enemy clans and nations stood next to each other to witness the games. Those that reject pirate Zandiziites tend to forget about that.” Siciri Yrzena, Historian for the Keepers of Heirlooms, in Baandr Quote “We accept aliens… Hell, we even accept Dominians! Why couldn’t we accept pirates at this point, I’m asking you!” Rikta Yulac, Surgeon at Skalamar Hospital 3 under the House of Medecine, in Skalamar Quote “Honestly, I’m here for the fighting. I don’t care that much about who’s who, I care about the glory of these battles, and anyone can make a battle glorious, so long as they fight well. It doesn’t matter where they come from. By preventing these pirates to get into the Zandiziites we’d risk missing out on plenty of good action! Guhka Alski, Fisherman under the Fishing League, in S’th This debate lasted up to this morning, when the Hegemon himself released a statement: Pirate Zandiziites will be accepted in the future games, though not without conditions. The number of pirates would be limited, proportionally to the number of other contenders. They are also to represent each fleet as a whole with a single fighter as well as a single Zandiziite allowed to represent all other independent crews. Time will tell if pirate Zandiziites will prove to be a loved addition to the games, but something is sure, they are to be expected in the next ones. 1
Captain Gecko Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Iroueans celebrate victory over pirate incursion, Iska’s Adventurers praised for their help Translated into Tau Ceti Basic: Today is a day of festivities for the people of the Hegemonic colony of Iroue. Yesterday, the Aldrad system saw a major incursion of hostile pirates. Though they do not appear to have been part of a known major fleet, they were well coordinated and managed to invade the system and besiege the planet, demanding resources and goods mined and produced on the colony. Though a squadron from Lord-Admiral Xitac’s Fourth Fleet was nearby, there were not enough ships to ensure a victory over the pirate invaders. However, Lord Izuzi, governor of Iroue, had paid a friendly pirate fleet for protection weeks earlier, and it only took six hours for them to arrive. Iska’s Adventurers, as they call themselves, joined up with the Hegemonic squadron present, and immediately launched a counter attack on the invaders. After a two-hour long battle, the pirate aggressors were forced to retreat, following grievous losses. This was not the first pirate incursion the Iroueans faced since the colony was founded, and they faced many hardships. And yet, yesterday’s attack was the largest pirate incursion they ever faced. Despite this, the joint force of Adventurers and Hegemonic sailors secured a crushing victory against the aggressors. To honor their protectors, and the few that fell in the defense of this colony, the people of Iroue organized a great celebration, and the Hegemon himself congratulated and thanked those that defended the colony all the way from Moghes. This celebration has been the occasion for some to meet Altarak Iska, Fang Captain of the Iska’s Adventurers. The Adventurers are a Unathi fleet that have only formed relatively recently, mostly composed with ex-Hegemonic colonists who claimed that the Hegmeony didn’t, or couldn’t defend their colonies enough to their tastes, and took to doing it themselves even if it meant forsaking their honor and their obligations. Their goals, however, had them very often work alongside the Hegemony and most importantly, its colonies, and yesterday’s battle wasn’t their first time working with and for the Hegemony. With recent talks in Hegemony leadership contemplating the possibility of giving Unathi Pirates a more active role in the defense of our territory and its interest, many are wondering if the Adventurers will end up being the very first fleet, and not just independent ships, to work for the Hegemony.
Captain Gecko Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Iska’s Adventurers pledge loyalty to Hegemon! Translated into Tau Ceti Basic: Today, Altarak Iska, Fang Captain of the Iska’s Adventurers, arrived on Moghes with his flagship, the Incarnadine Shield, to meet with the Hegemon himself. In public, before thousands of Sinta, Iska knelt before Hegemon Izweski. Quote “Hegemon Not'zar Izweski, I have come without escort and without arms to prove my intent. I offer my life to you, pledge my loyalty, and my honor, to you, and the people of the Hegemony.” To him, the Hegemon answered: Quote “In abandoning the Hegemony in the first place, you have soiled your honor, so did all of your men. But your cause remains respectable. Though the means you employed to attain them were not the right ones, the defense of our colonists, of our people, of the innocent against the wicked and the dishonorable elevates you and your crews above mere criminals. For that you will be given a chance. Dedicate your skills, your men and assets to serving the Hegemony, and you will be forgiven. Fail to do so, and earn rightful retribution.” Iska accepted, and swore fealty to Hegemon Not’zar Izweski, after which, he was brought to the Hegemon’s palace where they were to discuss strategies and the role of his fleet now. The Iska’s Adventurers fleet as a whole serving the Hegemony is a historical first and a great occasion for the Hegemony. Pirates swearing fealty to the Hegemony is not new, but those usually come either individually, or as crews of single, independant ships. Iska’s Adventurers are an entire fleet, however. Though far smaller than any proper military fleet, it remains a force to be reckoned with, especially when it comes to dealing with small-scale threats like other, more hostile pirates. After talks with the Hegemon, it appears the Iska’s Adventurers’ main assignment will be patrolling the periphery of the Hegemony’s territories, mainly protecting colonies and trading lines, not unlike what they used to do before joining the Hegemony officially. This post will also mean they would occasionally work in tandem with the 4th Fleet of Lord-Admiral Xitac, and it appears that he and Altarak Iska already met. Iska allegedly managed to negotiate some advantages too, such as higher pay than other pirates would have, and easier access to some military-grade equipment; advantages justified by the Adventurers’ role being more important than one of typical privateers, as well as an entire fleet requiring more funds. Reactions are mixed on Moghes, but many colonies and their Lord have thanked the Hegemon for this decision, as some have already benefited from the Adventurers’ services and can attest to their reliability. Time will tell how good they will fare, now that they are properly part of the Hegemony.
Lent23 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Heretic Ringleader Judiza Si’akh spotted passing by Res’karum Stoking the Flames Arc, Article 1 Yu’zath armsmen were ordered to investigate a large migration of Si’akh Sinta leaving Res’karum this past wednesday. They followed the most recent migrants out of the city, only to witness the migrants meet up with a much larger group reportedly numbering in the hundreds. Sinta Articles has dispatched senior wasteland correspondent Szek Ren’zsar to Res’karum in order to meet with Lord Yu’zath. While Lord Yu’zath himself was unable to be reached for comment, Master of Rivers Junz Yu’zath gave Ren’zsar this response: Quote “With the departure of many of Mudki’s heretical refugees, we are confident that Res’karum will return to its roots. Th’akh teachings have been a staple of Res’karum for as long as Sinta have lived in these mountains, and we will not be swayed by heretical beliefs.” All this comes to a head as the anti-Si’akh sentiment reaches an all-time high in the city. Lord Yu’zath has always been a strong anchor point of Th’akh worship, especially in the wasteland. His refusal to falter in the face of a strong Si’akh presence in his city is an honorable act. However, this seems to bode poorly for Res’karum, as hundreds of Si’akh workers flock out of the city to follow whatever plan this Judiza Si’akh has. One Miners’ Guild foreman in the city complained to Ren’zsar, stating that: Quote “Half my workers seem to have run off following this damned fool Si’akh. Azhal’s crown, have they all taken leave of their senses? Some Wasteland vagrant waves a staff around, and they act like the man is some kind of prophet. Winds take them all, how am I meant to fill my quotas now?” The Si’akhists continue to leave the city, wandering into the Wasteland. Where they are going, or what this so-called prophet has planned, remains unclear to us at this time. The other lords of the region seem to be less concerned about it, with Lord Korhar of Bahard’s High Speaker informing us that: Quote “These blasphemers can run off into the Wasteland if they like. If they want to abandon their work and their homes to follow a madman, then Bahard has no need for them. Leaves more food to go around those who are actually willing to help keep our city alive.” To the north, Lord Izaku of Mudki seemed dismissive of the Si’akh gathering. While his full statement has been cut for brevity and public decency, he scoffed at the “gathering of heretical rabble” and stated that any Si’akhist who came within sight of Mudki would “quickly find themselves swinging from the gallows”. For now, Ren’zsar and his crew have been sent to tail the migrants in order to keep an eye on what the heretics are up to. Sinta Articles will keep you all updated as the situation develops. 2
Lent23 Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Heretic Ringleader Judiza Si’akh In Talks With Queendom? Stoking the Flames Arc, Article 2 It has been 11 days since Szek Ren’zsar has been instructed to tail the Si’akh migration from Res’karum. Ren’zsar has reported that his crew has reached their destination: the Queendom of Sezk-Hakh. This comes as a shock to Sinta Articles, as Queen Sezk-Hakh has positioned herself in the past as a staunch ally of the Hegemon, and her harboring of the largest cult leader stands in stark contrast to her past demonstrations of loyalty to the Izweski. Senior correspondent Szek Ren’zsar has compiled a few statements from the heretics themselves. One Si'akh follower said: Quote “Si’akh has given me and my clan better opportunities than the Hegemon ever has.“He has revealed how the Hegemon has failed us. He has sold us out to alien corporations and feeds into his own greed. It has corrupted his soul too far.” An impoverished noble said: Quote “Si’akh wants to preserve our souls. People look at him as if he is some [expletive] Aut’akh psycho. All he has ever wanted was to redeem us from our own damnation, to see Moghes whole again.” A former Sk'akh priestess said: Quote “This was a lake, once. Look, over there. You can see the bones of the skyscrapers, the city that was once here, and you call the Prophet Si’akh mad? Madness is burning your own world, all over who gets to be king of the ashes. We have damned ourselves, my friend - but the Great Spirit has granted us a chance at redemption.” A disgruntled guildsman said: Quote “Just doesn’t seem right to me. My clan lived in the Zazalais for three hundred years, digging up silver and sending it off to Res’karum. Now the rivers dry up, the fish die, and my clan starves. I turn on the news and what do I see? Not’zar Izweski’s wedding feast. Why should I listen to soft-scaled princelings in their castles? What have they ever done for me? They say Si’akh’s mad, and maybe he is - but he knows what’s wrong with the world, and he means to fix it. Could do a lot worse, all I’m saying.” After our previous article, a few cities took a closer look at the Sinta departing from their lands. Baandr, Bahard, Sahltyr and Darakath have all reported numerous Sinta departures from their lands. It is apparent that these departures have, for the most part, been an effort to congregate thousands of Si’akh sympathizers in the Queendom for Si’akh to make an announcement regarding his heresy. As the announcement is scheduled for tomorrow, we will bring you a live update provided our correspondent is allowed in the meeting hall. As always, remember - you can trust Sinta Articles for your up-to-date news. 2
Lent23 Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Si’akh Traveling Abroad?! Ouerea Faces Potential Turmoil. Stoking the Flames Arc, Article 3 Breaking news from the Queendom of Sezk-Hakh! Juzida Si’akh has just announced his intent to travel to Ouerea in an attempt to, in his words, “Save the souls of our direct neighbors. The redeemable few that have stayed within [Uueoa-Esa].” During his announcement today, Si’akh told senior correspondent Ren’zsar that he will bring him and his team personally on the vessel transporting him to Ouerea. The planned destination is Um'a'yid, as Si’akh wishes to convert the lowly peasants to his heretical cause. Below is the transcript of Si’akh’s broadcast: [Cheers, applause, tail stomping can be heard as Si’akh approaches the podium. He places his walking stick against the podium and leans in to speak, softly at first.] “Wastelanders. Heartlanders. Southlanders. Prairie Clans, Coalitioners. Mountain Clans. Those of the Torn Cities. There are many ethnic identities that we may claim to be. There are many differences between these peoples. Strife has been ever-present throughout our history. There is, however, one thing that we all share: Our home. Moghes has tended to us, to our ancestors, and hopefully to our descendants. [Si’akh pauses for a few moments to examine the crowd. As he resumes speaking, he has a much angrier tone.] “I have heard whispers, among the faithful. Talk of the aliens, of Hephaestus Industries, blaming them for the ills of our world. It is an easy path to take, but it is not truth. Look around you! See the divine judgment of Sk’akh, see the ashes our once-beautiful world lies in! What hands wrought this doom upon us? Not alien hands, nor the hands of their corporations. Hephaestus is a nest of vipers, driven by wanton greed - but are they distinct in this? When Yukal T’zakal feasts as the Wasteland starves, is that somehow more wicked than when Not’zar Izweski does the same?” [Many jeers and loud tail stomping can be heard from the crowd. It lasts long enough that Si’akh takes a pause to listen. He resumes his soft-spoken initial tone.] “We are all of us to blame, for the ruin of Moghes. Yes, even I! I was a sinful man, who coveted wealth and power - was I alone in this? No. Moghes is ruled by the negligent and corrupt, those who call themselves lords, as it has ever been. It is our own sin, our own greed, our own abandonment of Sk’akh’s truth. That is what has led our world to damnation!” [Si’akh slams his fist onto the podium as he says “damnation” His tone shifts to an angry yelling once more.] “The Great Spirit has opened my eyes, my friends! Opened my eyes to the truth! For thousands of years we have been mired in faithlessness and corruption, until it left our world itself sundered and bleeding! But there is hope, brothers and sisters! For in Their mercy, Sk’akh offers redemption in flame, that we might make of our world the paradise our creator intended! Ask yourselves, each of you - will I stand aside? Will I fall into sin and debauchery, or will I do what is right! I know my answer, but it will take more than me! It will take you, and you, and you! By our own hands, Moghes is damned - and by our hands it shall be saved!” [The crowd erupts in a mixture of jeers, cheers and more tail stomping. Dust fills the stage, and while the noise begins to settle, the dust continues to permeate, vision blurred as two figures can be seen walking up, flanking either side of Si’akh, each with a large walking staff. They slam the bases of their staffs into the ground, and the tips of them ignite and through the dust, the flames create an eerie glow. Si’akh cuts the silence with a calm tone.] “I am going to leave Moghes to reach out to our brothers and sisters on Ouerea.” [Murmurs can be heard throughout the crowd, but they all quiet as Si’akh begins to speak once more.] “I will soon return, but if we seek to end the damnation brought upon us, we will need the assistance of our devotees aboard. There are devouts in many places across the Spur, lying in wait for our time. My brothers and sisters in flame - Now is our time. Return to Moghes with me at the culmination of my trip. All the faithful shall witness my proclamation. Secure your next shuttle to the Queendom and join me.” [The crowd erupts in cheers once more, and Si’akh grabs his walking stick and turns to leave, flanked by his two fire-bearers.] [The transmission ends.] Senior correspondent Ren’zsar will keep us updated as soon as the Si’akh presence touches down on Ouerea. As always, trust Sinta Articles for your up-to-date news. 4
Lent23 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Si’akh Touches Down On Ouerea, Preaches Heresies to Peasants Stoking the Flames Arc, Article 4 Today marks the first time that heretic cult leader Juzida Si’akh has ever been on another planet. He left last week with the intent of reaching Ouerea in order to speak to the peasantry of the planet. Accompanied with merely a small retinue of his heretical devotees as well as Sinta Articles senior correspondent Ren’zsar, his ship touched down just outside of Um'a'yid today. Immediately, Si’akh walked to the docks to speak with a group of fishermen that had shortly before arrived back from a fishing haul. The fishermen seemed surprisingly open to the idea of Si’akh’s presence on their planet, stating that he had seen Si’akh’s broadcast from the Queendom of Sezk-Hakh. The fisherman’s captain was approached after speaking with Si’akh, and was quoted as saying, Quote “You know what? At this point, at least it feels like somebody is speaking up for the hatchlings. Not’zar sold us out to humans. Ouerea was supposed to be our planet, and now not only do I have to live alongside a bunch of aliens, I have to work to make them money. Hephaestus comes in and now we all have to work to satisfy their quotas. We all miss the guilds, you know? Maybe Si’akh will at least help us gain some ground back against Hephaestus.” It is clear that the anti-corporate sentiment still plagues Ouerea to this day, despite the good that Hephaestus has done for the planet itself. Whether or not you believe that the corporations are good for the Hegemony itself, their effects on the Hegemonic economy cannot be denied. Si’akh’s presence on Ouerea serves no goal other than destabilizing what the Hegemon has fought to build and secure for the future of the Hegemony. While he may have just arrived on Ouerea, Si’akh has apparent plans to speak with many Sinta around many cities. We at Sinta Articles will keep an eye on the situation as it develops. Don’t lose your faith in these trying times. We are all in this together. 2
Lent23 Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Si’akh Returns to Moghes with Thousands, Hegemon’s Economic Sanctioning of Dominia? Stoking the Flames Arc, Article 7 Today marks the return of heretical cult leader Juzida Si’akh after a trip to Ouerea to spread his anti-corporate, anti-hegemony faith. After a proselytizing trip abroad, Si’akh has returned via shuttle to the Queendom of Sezk-Hakh. His is only the latest shuttle in a series of drop-offs that have seen Sinta from all over the Spur returning to Moghes from abroad, with many coming from the Republic of Biesel itself, evidently answering a call from the cult head himself. Si’akh is reported to have a scheduled announcement tomorrow, which will have live coverage done by Senior Correspondent Szak Ren’zsar and his team. In related news, the Hegemon has released a statement regarding a number of citizens that were killed by the Empire of Dominia just after they landed on January 13. In his statement, the Hegemon stated: Quote “They should have let us extradite the heretics. Killing Hegemony citizens, no matter how heretical they are, is not up to Keeser to decide. The Empire should be ashamed of how their leadership has acted in this situation.” When asked if any action will be taken against the Empire, the Hegemon had this to say: Quote “We have decided to enforce a number of sanctions against the Empire for their actions. These include a limit on the economic exchange between our nations as well as a complete travel ban on all Imperial citizens. We are looking to remove all Imperial citizens inside the borders of Moghes as well. The Hegemony still stands as a strong economic pathway between the Empire and the rest of the Spur. They will suffer for the murder of two Hegemonic citizens.” With such a strong economy established thanks to the presence of Aeson, T’zakal and the rest of Hephaestus, the Empire of Dominia stands to suffer economically due to these sanctions. So far, the Empire has not given a formal response to the sanctions. As always, stick with Sinta Articles for the most up-to-date Hegemonic news. 3
Lent23 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 A Live Broadcast of Juzida Si’akh in the Queendom of Sezk-Hakh Stoking the Flames Arc, Article 8 BREAKING NEWS flies across the screen as the background swaps from a Hegemony flag to pan upwards and reveal a single black-scaled male Unathi sitting at a reporting desk. A name at the bottom of the screen denotes this man as Insar Zenkan Zenkan: “Today, we have a live broadcast for you. Senior Correspondent Szak Ren’zsar is live at the Queendom of Sezk-Hakh as heretic pariah Juzida Si’akh prepares to make a speech. While concerning that the previously well-regarded Queen Lazak Szek’Hakh has apparently broken her oath to the Hegemon, we are nevertheless covering this story to keep you, the viewer, up-to-date. Ren’zsar, can you hear me?” The camera switches to a large green-scaled Unathi holding a microphone. In the background there is a large stage with thousands of Sinta in front of it. A name at the bottom of the screen denotes this as Szek Ren’zsar. Ren’zsar: “I hear you, Zenkan. Today we are witnessing history as The Final High Prophet Born of the Purifying Flames unveils his vision of the future.” Zenkan: “Quite the official title for such an insane heretic. It almost sounds like you respect him, Ren’zsar.” Ren’zsar: “Respect comes where respect is due, Zenkan.” Cheering and tail-stomping can be heard in the background as the camera pans away from Ren’zsar and towards the stage. The man known as Juzida Si’akh walks on stage and the camera follows him closely. He walks slowly yet resolutely towards the podium before resting his walking cane on it politely. He interlocks his claws over the top of the podium, and the cheering slowly falls to silence. He dips his head slightly and speaks into the microphone on the podium: Si’akh: “Today, I must address solemn news. I am sure many of you have heard by now, but some of my most trusted advisors whom I have sent to Moroz to spread our word were caught and tortured by the group known as the Royal Guard. They were tortured for daring to speak our name.” As he pauses, jeers can be heard throughout the thousands of Sinta present. Si’akh: “Illkari Csorik and Lisek Zentra - Your names will always be remembered.” The crowd settles into a moment of respectful silence before Si’akh speaks again: Si’akh: “Those of you that have returned from across the Spur to your ancestral homes, this is for you. In cooperation with Queen Lazak Szek’Hakh, we will be establishing the first official Church of Si’akh of Moghes. We are currently working with a number of printers to codify our word, which will be given to all willing Sinta.” The raucous cheers of thousands of Sinta can be heard. Tail stomping kicks a ton of dust into the air. As it settles, Si’akh continues. Si’akh: “We have also spoken with a number of Si’akh communes around the Spur, and we will be establishing a few Si’akh churches on choice planets across the Spur. These include Vezdukh, Mictlan; District 11 of Mendel City, Biesel and Valkyrie. In each of these locations, I will be sending a trusted Fire Priest to lead in my stead, while I will remain here on Moghes in the First Church of the Flame. My brothers and sisters, this is but the beginning for us.” Raucous cheers fill the air from sections of the crowd as sections are called out. Si’akh: “I have one final announcement for us all today. Behind the crowd lies one man that I have spoken with many times throughout this journey - a man I have seen many of you speak with as well. He is a man with confidence, charisma, and true faith. This man I am declaring as the First Speaker of The Flame: Fire Speaker Szak Ren’zsar!” Many cheers can be heard as the camera pans back to Szak Ren’zsar. His expression is not that of shock, but of reverence. He turns to address the camera. Ren’zsar: “In my time traveling with Juzida Si’akh, I have learned many things. I have seen many faces, and I have heard many stories. Today marks a new day of the Si’akh religion. No longer will we be labeled as cultists, or heretics. No longer will we stand idly by as our world dies.. We are -” First the microphone cuts out, leaving only silence as Ren’zsar continues to speak on-screen. Murmuring from the news crew's voiceover can be heard momentarily as the audio cuts to them before the screen cuts to Insar Zenkan once more. He has a look of shock on his face. He glances around the newsroom, before shuffling some papers. After a moment, he begins to speak: Inzsar: “We will be back. We have to-.. Cut. Cut the stream.” A screen displaying the words PLEASE STAND BY are all that is left on the screen, and a short chime plays. There are a few minutes before commercials resume on the channel. 2
Lent23 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Si’akh Cultists Establish Wasteland Church Stoking the Flames Arc, Article 9 Following yesterday’s dramatic events, it appears that a small army of Si’akh cultists have fortified a structure in the Wasteland, near the borders of the Queendom of Szek’Hakh. While we do not have any personnel on the scene, reports indicate several thousand followers of the heretic ringleader have begun to settle in the region, proclaiming the “First Church of the Flame”. Queen Szek’Hakh has issued only a brief comment on this recent madness, stating that she will not risk her people’s lives in driving out the cult without the Hegemon’s express command. The office of the Hegemon has yet to issue an official response to recent events. Former Sinta Articles guildsman Szak Ren’zsar seems to be presiding over the cult presence, having been declared as ‘First Speaker of the Flame’ by the so-called prophet Judizah Si’akh. Following his outrageous declaration, his employment with Sinta Articles has been terminated. Sinta Articles does not condone or endorse Szak Ren’zsar’s beliefs or statements, and his conversion to the Si’akh faith is in no way reflective of our stance as a guild, or the stance of our parent guild Hephaestus Industries. Among the nobility there has been an uproar, with Lord Yuhuni of To’ha’dat calling for Sk’akh faithful to take up arms against the Si’akh cult and its followers. The Sk’akh Church has yet to issue an official statement, though Archpriest Malza of Zazalai made a brief public statement that “Where the egg of heresy is allowed to hatch unimpeded, death and ruin shall be birthed in abundance”. Whether his fellow archpriests will back him on this matter remains to be seen. Szak Ren’zsar has taken to posting videos on the extranet, filled with the deranged ramblings that one might expect from a cult such as Si’akh. The Ren’zsar clan has denounced their once-proud son’s actions, and our sources inform us that discussion of declaring the so-called First Speaker Guwan has been raised. As for this Church itself, more Si’akhists are reported to flock there by the day - though whether Judiza Si’akh himself is still there remains unclear. It is likely he has fled again, driven by cowardice to avoid the risk of confrontation for his many crimes. What this development will mean remains to fully unfold, however. Whether this new ‘Church’ is a staging ground for an assault on the nearby Queendom, or one of the cities of the Zazalais, remains to be seen - as well as what the madman Judiza Si’akh intends to do next. As always, Sinta Articles will keep our readers updated on any further developments. Remember, for Sinta news Spur-wide, stick to the source you know you can trust - stick to Sinta Articles.
RustingWithYou Posted January 20 Posted January 20 BREAKING: Religious Riots in Imas'hi! Demands of the Three, Article 1 Breaking news from the city of Imas’hi, as religious violence has broken out in the streets! Reports indicate that a group of Si’akh cultists were performing one of their profane rites near a Sk’akh church, doubtless in an attempt to agitate the locals. A group of angered Sk’akh faithful fought back, sparking a vicious brawl which has spread to the Hitas Kae Memorial District and appears to still be going on now. A group of Th’akh Sinta, largely refugees from the northern Wasteland, has also joined in on the violence, with the Imas’hi City Watch working to contain the rioters within the Memorial District. Lady-Regent Amz’izi Kae has commented on the violence, stating that “it wounds my heart to see my people fighting in such a way. I pray only that my stalwart watchmen will be able to restore order, and that my beautiful city is not left in such disarray. I am glad that my husband, Sk’akh keep him, did not live to see such behavior in his land.” Several dozen arrests have already been made by the City Watch, and Archpriest Koszkahe Oklaal of the Sk’akh Church has issued a public statement on the rioting, calling for the Sk’akh faithful involved to stand down and let order be restored. Video footage is available courtesy of Dharr Amza, Sinta Articles Church correspondent. Quote The camera fades in on the steps of an enormous and ancient building, adorned with carvings and imagery of Sk’akh - the Third Scept of Skalamar, headquarters of the Church. A black-scaled Unathi in elegant white and golden robes stands at a podium, an ornamental gilded staff in his hand. Subtitles identify him as Koszkahe Oklaal, Archpriest of the Heartlands. After a moment, he begins to speak, Tau Ceti Basic subtitles rolling across the bottom of the screen. “Brothers and sisters, my fellow children of Sk’akh - what have we become, to engage in such lawlessness? I urge you, lay down your arms, and let order be restored to Imas’hi. I understand that you are angry, taunted by the ramblings of these lunatic cultists - and the passion that the Warrior stirs in our hearts can be a force for great good, but it must be tempered with the Healer’s grace, the Fisher’s wisdom. Balance in all things, my friends - that is the foundation of Sk’akh’s grace. But the blame does not solely lie with you, or with these heretic madmen and their so-called prophet. It shames me to say this, but the Church has failed you, the faithful children of the Great Spirit. We have been leaderless, divided, bickering - where we should be resolute, unified, a point of guidance for all the faithful. A man cannot survive without his head, a nation cannot survive without its lord - and the Church cannot survive in such a state. I call upon my fellow archpriests - no more shall we be divided! The time has come to raise a new High Priest, and to let the Church be whole once more!” Immediately, the assembled reporters erupt with shouting and questions - but the Archpriest does not reply, turning his back on the podium and ascending the steps back into the Scept. He steps below an enormous statue of the three-faced god, and vanishes from view. After a moment, the camera fades to black. Archpriest Oklaal has reinforced his statement several times over, calling for his fellows to join him in the Great Scept and appoint a new leader for the Church. While the Archpriests have found it difficult to agree in the past, the addition of Akale Roeruz, Archpriest of Tza, has meant they can no longer be stuck in a deadlock. At this time, none of the other Archpriests have responded to Oklaal’s request. We will keep our readers updated on the situation within the Sk’akh Church as it develops. RustingWithYou Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Archpriests Gather In Skalamar Demands of the Three, Article 2 Earlier this morning, the five Archpriests of the Sk’akh Church gathered in Skalamar, seemingly supporting Archpriest Oklaal’s call for a new High Priest. The position of High Priest has been vacant for four years now, since the treason and exile of Yizra Unzi, with the Archpriests ruling by committee. Since Archpriest Oklaal’s call for a united front, the other Archpriests have been traveling to the Heartland, where they have announced a press conference where they will address the Hegemony’s faithful. Church correspondent Dharr Amza will be on the scene and providing live coverage of this exciting development among the faith. Archpriest Korza Azandar of the Southlands and Archpriest Akale Roeruz of Tza both arrived in Skalamar early this week, and were joined soon after by Archpriest Kharan Malza of Zazalai. The Archpriest of Ouerea, Iloso Azente, is scheduled to arrive by shuttle this evening, having been seen off earlier today by crowds of faithful in New Skalamar. To many of the faithful, this is a sign of hope - that the Church will once more be able to fulfill its duties as Sk’akh’s earthly representative. To those outside the faith, however, it is viewed with a great deal more apprehension. Our reporters were able to collect some statements gauging the popular mood on the streets of Skalamar. Quote “It’s about time. All those crazy cultists out in the Wasteland, and those half-machine lunatics on Ouerea? The Church needs to be strong to sort all that out, not sit around debating if the sky is blue all day long.” -Vasegh Kssighriss, Hephaestus shuttle pilot Quote “Last time we had a High Priest, he built a private army and tried to overthrow the Hegemon. What good’s a new one going to do? We Th’akh have been fine for thousands of years without some fat-tail in fancy robes telling us how to deal with our own spirits, let the rest of Moghes try it.” -Kseok Tarzi, Junzi Electric guildsman Quote “My brother died fighting those damned Maraziites, when they rebelled against the Hegemon. I pay my tithes, I go to the sermons, but why should we give someone else the kind of power that honorless filth Unzi had?” -Ahkna Zorek, Skalamar University of Medicine apprentice Quote “Sure, Unzi rebelled. Not questioning that, or saying the Hegemon - Sk’akh bless him - was wrong to exile him. But before that, was he so bad? The Maraziites might have been corrupt, but do you think that we’d be dealing with those riots in Imas’hi if they were still around? Who’s going to fight for Sk’akh now?” -Baraki Oz’at, Fishing League guildsman Clearly, the possibility of a new High Priest is a divisive subject for many. By Sk’akh tradition, the Archpriests will spend some time in discussion and addressing the concerns of the faithful, before entering a week-long period of seclusion to elect a new High Priest from among their number. 1
RustingWithYou Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Press Conference Interrupted By Deranged Criminal! Demands of the Three, Article 3 The camera fades in on the interior of an enormous cathedral, packed corner to corner with an enormous crowd of Unathi. Carvings, status, and iconography of Sk’akh cover every inch of it, with five robed Unathi standing at the front of the room, in front of an enormous stained glass window depicting Sk’akh forcing Moghes and the spirit world apart. Helpful subtitles identify them as the five Archpriests of Sk’akh. In the center, a black-scaled Unathi looks up, leaning on an ornamental gilded staff - Archpriest Koszkahe Oklaal of the Heartlands. He lifts one hand, and waits for the crowd’s murmurs to die down. When silence reigns in the hall, he speaks. “Brothers and sisters, children of the Great Spirit. I welcome you here, to this most sacred of sites - the heart of our Church. You have come from each corner of the world, as have my fellow Archpriests and I, to hear our word and the word of Sk’akh. There will be a new High Priest, my friends - chosen from among our number. Sk’akh will have an earthly voice once more - and we shall never again be divided!” There is some cheering from the crowd, as another Archpriest steps forward - red-scaled with large frills. Subtitles identify him as Archpriest Korza Azandar of the Southlands. He lifts his hands to the crowd, and is met with rigorous applause. “Archpriest Oklaal, my brother in Sk’akh, was not wrong, when he said we have failed our people! We have been divided, unwilling and unable to act, but no more! We will be whole again, a Church capable of defending its faithful! We-” Archpriest Azandar is cut off abruptly by a shout from the crowd. “Liars! Cowards! Preachers of falsehood!” The camera abruptly pans to where a burly dark green Unathi has pushed his way through the crowd. He is dressed in ragged clothing, and seems to be furious as he jabs a long-taloned finger towards the five Archpriests. The guards start moving through the crowd towards him, as he shoves his way towards the front of the room. “We defended our faithful, and were cast out! For your own pride and power, you betrayed Sk’akh’s earthly will! None of you are worthy! Liars, traitors, honorless scum!” The enraged Unathi sprint forward, one hand reaching into his satchel. In a flash he moves, throwing something towards the front of the room. Almost immediately, he is tackled by three watchmen, throwing him to the floor. There is a loud clang, as something metallic strikes the marble tiles, landing at the feet of a statue of the Warrior. “Unzi was High Priest, and none of you deserve to stand in his shadow! Heretics! Filth! Servants of nothing but-” A gag is shoved in his mouth, as the watchmen begin dragging the mad Sinta away. The crowd is shoving, trying to get a closer look, as the Archpriests call for order from behind their podiums. The camera slowly pans over, zooming in on the item the assailant threw. It is a full-face mask, made to fit an Unathi and forged from solid iron. After a moment, the camera cuts abruptly, with the symbol of the Keepers of Heirlooms displayed above the words “We’ll Be Right Back” in Sinta’Unathi. This footage was recorded during a public address by the Sk’akh Archpriests earlier this morning. The deranged man who disrupted the proceedings was taken into custody by the Skalamar Watch, who have refused to issue a statement at this time. Our sources indicate that he has been identified as Vhariz Gukuzan, a former Maraziite who was recorded as missing following the Order’s dissolution. Gukuzan was an officer within the Maraziite Order, and was believed to have perished in the Siege of the Scept four years ago. He will likely be tried both for past crimes and his present breaches of public order shortly. The press conference was abruptly halted following this outburst. None of the Archpriests have agreed to provide us with comments on this man, or on the accusations levied at them, at this time. As always, we will keep our readers updated as the situation develops. 1
RustingWithYou Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Special Feature - Interview With Archpriest Malza Demands of the Three, Article 4 The recent press silence from the Sk’akh Church has been broken, as Archpriest Kharan Malza of Zazalai has agreed to an interview with Sinta Articles. The interview was conducted yesterday afternoon by Dharr Amza, Sinta Articles’ church correspondent. The Archpriest spoke on the pending vote, last week’s disruption, and the controversial subject of the Maraziite Order. The camera fades in on a dark brown Unathi with long, curling horns and a crocodilian facial structure. He is seated at a small wooden table, in what appears to be a side room of the Great Scept. A stained glass window behind him depicts the Warrior Mukari, striking down a formless mass of darkness with his sword. Seated opposite him is a pale cream Unathi with small, backwards-pointing horns. Subtitles identify them as Archpriest Kharan Malza and Dharr Amza respectively. Clearing their throat softly, Amza speaks. “Good afternoon, Archpriest - thank you for agreeing to this interview. With the topic of a new High Priest being raised, people are eager to get to know who’s in the running better - so let’s start with the obvious question. Do you intend to put your name forward as the next High Priest?” Malza takes a sip of his water, flicking his tongue into the air softly. His voice is low and gravelly, with the unmistakable accent of the Zazalai Mountains thick in his words. “I wish to see the Church be a force for good in this world. If one of my fellows can convince me they are suited to this, I will vote for them - otherwise, I will stand for Sk’akh and for what is right, as I have always done.” “Do you think any of your fellow Archpriests are up to the challenge? The Church has had a, ah… challenging few years.” Amza adjusts their microphone slightly. The Archpriest’s tail thumps against the floor. “You speak of Unzi, and his foolishness. Do not bandy words and speak in half-truths, bard. I have little patience for those who do not say what they mean. The Church must be seen as what we should be - peacekeepers, defenders. Champions of the just. That is what I wish to see us become once more.” “I- well, that is certainly an admirable goal. Now, there was an incident - that man who disturbed your address the other day. The other Archpriests have been unwilling to comment on him, but our sources indicate that he was once a member of the Maraziite Order. Do you have any words on him, or his words?” “I have little patience for the blathering of lunatics, and the Maraziites lost their way. But I cannot say he was entirely wrong. Unzi was a madman, but the Order was founded for a noble goal - to protect the innocent, and to punish the guilty. When they fell, we turned our backs on every man of them. How many were condemned as criminals, who joined to do the Great Spirit’s work? Do they each deserve the charges levied at them?” The Archpriest takes a long drink of water, as Amza writes a few notes. “Archpriest, are you calling for a reformation of the Iron Masks?” “I am saying that Unzi led us wrong, making the Church play politics. We have a duty to the souls of the Sinta people, and to defend our faithful against aggression. The Church should not be a force of war, but we must have the power to act against heresy, and to defend ourselves from the malign forces arrayed against us. The Si’akhists gather in the Wasteland, and chant profane rituals to their flames. The Aut’akh plot their vile rituals on Ouerea. Who will defend the righteous against the wicked, when they grow emboldened enough to strike?” The Archpriest pauses, letting out a soft hiss. “The Iron Masks rose against the Hegemon, and I know why he disbanded them. I do not call for their reform, but I will say that the ideals on which they were founded were admirable ones - not to be cast aside because of Unzi’s lust for power.” “You were an opponent of the former High Priest, yes?” “Words are cheap. You’d be hard-pressed to find a soul in the Church who wasn’t always Unzi’s enemy, and didn’t know him for exactly what he was - or so they all say. Makes one wonder how he ever took power, if they are as honest as they profess.” Amza nods, jotting down a few more notes. The Archpriest takes another drink of his water, shifting slightly into a spot of sunlight shining through the stained glass window. “So - as High Priest, would you call for a reformation of the Maraziites? A return to the Church as a military power?” Another thump of the tail, more agitated this time. “Have you ever read Devotions of the Three-Faced God, bard? There is a passage you may find enlightening. ‘The Warrior shall strengthen their arms, that they might each stand against hundreds and triumph. The Healer shall grant them compassion, that their hearts might be stirred to defend the innocent. The Fisher shall grant them wisdom, that they might be unburdened of doubt. Blessed shall they be, who stand before the corrupt and the wicked and shall not falter.’ The faith must have its defenders.” Amza nods, jotting down a few more notes. “We’re almost out of time here, Archpriest - if I might ask one final question. Do you have any words for the faithful, in this exciting time?” The Archpriest looks up towards the camera, nodding. “Keep the faith, each of you. Great trials may bring great rewards, in time. Sk’akh shall watch over you, and over each of us. Praise to the Three in One.” “Wise words, that I’m sure are a comfort to many. Thank you for your time, Archpriest, and to all our viewers at home for tuning in.” The camera fades out, displaying the Sinta Articles logo before the start of a commercial for offworld work opportunities with Hephaestus Industries. RustingWithYou Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) Righteous or Radical? Archpriests Speak Against Militancy Demands of the Three, Article 5 In response to Archpriest Malza’s recent interview, two more of the Church’s leaders have spoken with Sinta Articles correspondents, condemning Archpriest Malza’s calls for a more militant Church. Archpriest Oklaal of the Southlands and Archpriest Roeruz of Tza spoke with our Church correspondent earlier today, explaining their visions for the future of the faith. Footage attached below. The camera pans in on a large and elegant room, dominated by a long table. A large and ornate chair sits conspicuously absent at the table’s head. Two Unathi in the fine robes of Archpriests sit on one side, while correspondent Dharr Amza sits on the other. Two armored Priests of the Warrior stand at the room’s door, inactive energy halberds at their side. After a moment, Amza speaks, adjusting the guild mantle about their shoulders. “Thank you for joining me today, Archpriests - I’m told we’re live in front of nearly two million viewers. You two seem to be fairly unified on the issue of Church militancy, and the potential of a Maraziite reformation - would you like to share with the audience how you feel on the subject?” The two Archpriests exchange a glance, before Oklaal gestures to Roeruz. The younger Unathi speaks, tongue flicking out and tasting the air. He has the deep, gravelly accent of the Tza Prairie to his words. “I am from Tza, Amza. I am not Th’akh, but I have seen the rubble of the Akhandi temples. Twenty years, I have strived to bring the light of Sk’akh to my homeland, and do you know how they looked at me these past few? With fear, and with rage. The Iron Crusade made enemies across the Hegemony, and for what? Is there any less sin or misery in this world now, than there was before Unzi decided that he could save souls at swordpoint? We are sworn to guide the souls of our fellow Sinta to Sk’akh’s grace - who are those who died at the Maraziites’ hands, if not our fellow Sinta? Malza speaks of an army of the righteous, but any army that he raises will be made of men, too easily corrupted by power.” The Archpriest’s tail flicks, as he seems almost sorrowful in his words. Oklaal takes a long sip of his pale lilac wine. “It should not be this way. Who among us can look at the state of Moghes, and say that what we need to do is to kill each other more?” Amza nods, before turning to Archpriest Oklaal, who lowers his wine. “I entirely agree. Unzi led us to ruin, and Archpriest Malza, though I respect him greatly, cannot see that his ideas would only lead us down the same path. No one has ever been brought to the light of the Three in One by a gun pointed in their face. Are we not citizens of the Hegemony? Does Archpriest Malza not trust Hegemon Not’zar to act, in the face of assault from Wasteland heretics or murderous cultists? The formation of the Maraziites, and the militarization of the Church, only made us weaker, allowed us to fall into sin - carried out in the house of Sk’akh! It shames me, Amza. It should shame us all, and we should do our best to never again repeat such evils.” “So, you’re strongly opposed to pardons or reform for the Order, yes?” Both Archpriests nod. Oklaal speaks, swirling the wine in his glass. “We are of one mind on this. Let such things lie.” “Archpriest Oklaal, you served in the Heartland during Unzi’s reign, yes?” A pause, before a nod. “Yes, I did. I regret that I did not oppose him publicly, but at the time his thugs were more than eager to take such things as proof of heresy.” “Some have accused you of opportunism, claiming that you turned your tail when it became convenient.” The Archpriest hisses sharply. “Baseless slander. I serve the same principles, the same master, as I have always done - the Great Spirit. It is easy for others to judge, from the safety of far-off lands - but I sought to preserve what I could, when my beloved Church fell under the sway of a madman.” “Did you not vote for Unzi as High Priest, Archpriest Oklaal?” “I did not know what he was, then. None of us did, and there are better things to discuss than the lies of a dead man.” Amza pauses a moment, nodding. “Of course, Archpriest. So, let’s move on to the more relevant issues of today - do either of you seek to be named High Priest?” Roeruz shrugs, hissing softly. “What Sk’akh wills shall be, and it is not for us to know the pattern of things. The will of the Threefold will be revealed at the proper time. I myself do not seek the position - I am only recently an Archpriest, after all.” Oklaal finishes his wine, placing the goblet back on the table. A white-robed servant swiftly whisks it away. “I have managed the Heartlands Church for years. I have seen the folly of Unzi, and where it led us. I do not wish to sound boastful, but I know the Church and its realities better than any of my fellows - and I believe that I could best serve Sk’akh as High Priest. I hope that the others will come to feel as I do, with time.” “Speaking of time, that’s about all we have. Thank you both again for speaking with me, Archpriests. Do you have any final words for the faithful who may be watching us today?” Oklaal nods, looking towards the camera. “Do not be taken in by calls to violence and bloodshed. Let the Healer temper your souls with wisdom. The will of Sk’akh shall make itself known, and the Church shall stand resolute against all corruption.” The camera fades to black. After a moment, a commercial begins for The Waste Hunter 2: Xsain Fury, which appears to focus on the Vaurca Warrior from the first movie. In cinemas this Travakh. RustingWithYou Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Unlikely Alliance? Azandar Defends Malza! Demands of the Three, Article 6 The situation among the Archpriests continues to develop, as Archpriest Azandar of the Southlands has reached out to Sinta Articles to speak in defense of his colleague Malza. Our church correspondent conducted an interview with him from Skalamar earlier today, where he spoke on his vision for the Church and its future. The camera fades in on a small study, walls lined with books and scrolls. A red-scaled Unathi in the elaborate robes of an Archpriest sits in front of a large wooden desk, with a laptop sitting open behind him. Seated across from him is the now-familiar sight of Dharr Amza, Sinta Articles church correspondent. After a moment, the journalist speaks. “And we’re live. Good morning, Archpriest Azandar, thank you for joining me - I’ll get right into it with the question on everyone’s mind, do you want to see yourself as High Priest?” Azandar nods, replying without hesitation. He has the accent of a Southlands noble, fast and precise. “I do. The Church needs leadership who understands that we are servants of Sk’akh, not bound up in earthly politics. I have seen the division and chaos of last year’s riots over Hephaestus - the people need to know that there is someone who cares for their spiritual wellbeing.” “I can certainly agree with that - there’s been some recent controversy around Archpriest Malza and his call for a more militant Church. Several of your fellows have denounced his ideas - what are your thoughts on the matter?” The Archpriest hisses softly. “The Church needs to be able to defend itself. Archpriest Malza and I may not always agree, but we are of one mind on this. Many of the Maraziites were good men, who pledged their lives to a greater purpose, and we turned our backs on them when it was politically convenient to do so. Truth and righteousness, that is what we should uphold - to spend our time playing politics instead is anathema in the Threefold’s eyes.” “You don’t fear corruption among the Church’s warriors, such as what happened with the Order? Many of the documents are still classified, but Unzi wielded them as a cudgel against his detractors for years. What’s to stop such a thing happening again?” “I am not Unzi. What is to stop any organization from falling to corruption, any vassal from betraying their lord? The Maraziites were their own structure, independent of the Church and answerable only to the High Priest. That is where we went wrong, creating a power that could be so easily misused. As for the rest, we must have faith in our successors to wield well the tools we hand to them. That is all any of us can do.” “So, would you stand behind Malza for High Priest?” “Perhaps. If I had faith his vision aligned with mine for what we should be - but I intend to stand for the position myself. I believe that the Church can be a guiding force, a force for good in a time of great uncertainty, and I believe I am the best suited to accomplish that. If another could convince me of their ability, then I would stand with them.” A brief pause, as a servant enters the room with a porcelain teapot. Two cups of pale amber tea are poured, and offered to each of the speakers. Amza takes a long sip from theirs, flipping a page in their notepad. “You’ve acquired something of a reputation as a man with the common touch, Archpriest - I’ve seen some footage of you speaking with rioters and watchmen during the Jaz’zirt upheaval last year. Do you think that your leadership would focus the Church more on being in-touch with the working Sinta?” “Sk’akh sees all souls, high or low, and They bear love for each of Their children. The rioting saddened me, seeing such anger and hatred left to fester for so long. For centuries, a common faith, a common system of values and beliefs, has united this nation. We are seeing the results of that faith failing its adherents in the streets today, during a time of uncertainty. I don’t hate Hephaestus, or think they are a sign of wickedness as others do, but people were afraid and uncertain about their actions, and they were brushed aside. They need reassurance, they need protection - they need a Church that they know will stand for them against injustice.” “A Church for the people, then?” Amza’s tongue flicks with a hint of amusement. “If you like. I am not one for such grand and empty statements. What matters is that we are whole, we are strong, and we are prepared to do the will of the Three in One. Let me ask, are you a follower of Sk’akh, Amza?” The correspondent nods, somewhat hesitantly. “I am, Archpriest. My clan has been faithful for many-” “How often do you attend sermons? Pay tithes? Attend gatherings of the faithful?” A pause. Amza takes a very long sip of their tea. “Not as often as I should, in truth. Recent events, well… you know how it is.” The Archpriest nods, his tail brushing in small circles on the floor. “I do. The Church should be a shelter and a guide for the faithful, and yet too many feel that we have turned from Sk’akh to serve ourselves - and there are those among our number for whom that is true. I intend to see us devoted to the service of no earthly powers, but to the will of Sk’akh almighty.” There is a brief pause, as silence fills the room. Amza adjusts their papers, before turning their gaze back to the Archpriest. “A noble sentiment, Archpriest Azandar - and one that I’m sure the faithful at home hope you can live up to. Thank you for joining me today, and do you have any final words for those watching?” The Archpriest shakes his head. “All I wish to say, I have already said. The Great Spirit frowns on empty words and those who speak them.” The camera fades to black, before cutting to a commercial for Sparring Sea colonization ventures.
