I did add that to say I have the knowledge to do genetics for IC purposes because he really did teach me and I thought it'd be quite disrespectful to leave him out when he's the who actually help me get into the genetics field on Aurora. but honestly I will tweak my work experience to be... lesser because I'm not allowed to make "Uncanny/Ostentatious" characters that get their knowledge from other areas that is not formal education like tech industries and such, but I'd like to add that not everyone wants to go to college and there should be exceptions for people who have not normal records like a DO interview to make the story legit.

In my eyes experience is better than formal education because one makes the hotdogs the other is told to take a test about hotdogs.

last i checked they were banned for self-antagonizing which is actually against server rules

 

They took a temp ban for self-antagging, but later staff collectively decided that after multiple (4-6) times of being talked to about having a completely unbelievable, crude and horribly rounded character, that a ban was in-order if they did not improve. Two days later, after almost no changes being made. A perm ban was issued until Meta proves that they can create a character that is well-rounded, and believable.

 

I never got or maybe even remember this... But I remember being banned for stealing a waistcoat from the bar thus "Self Antagging" which when I read the rules over what I did was clearly fine, but this isn't the case and i no longer "Self antag" anymore I pretty much changed completely. I tweaked my character a bit after you told me to add a type of formal education and alter a bit of my history which is what I did but later you came to me saying I didn't change enough then you issued a ban which is why I requested help on my records to find out what to change because you didn't give me the whole complete rundown until now...

I'm trying to fix things... I honestly really am, and lately from reading reviews on this post which got big too fast... changed my character greatly which I think people are starting to notice. So now I'm taking the brutal reviews for my records and altering them to be more acceptable yet the same.

I never talk about my character's back story but it's a bizarre one... there's a reason why they are knowledgeable on this topic it's kinda in my records.

But the whole thing really that everyone misses is that Icly... My character is not mostly like the records, the moment you spend some time with Seon you'll actually understand them and this explains why science department is kinda defending me a bit which I find quite flattering.

Genetics. Considering in our lore, most geneticists have doctorates, and are required to be at least thirty. She has training for Engineering, Genetics, Firearms use, agriculture, as well as hand-to-hand combat in her records. And she's only nineteen. The whole 'I was taught by my father, I've worked for years with geneticists at another company, I had a few shifts with a geneticist on the station. Oh, also I'm a research experiment with black fur on my body and gold eyes."

All of this screams 'over the top'.

Starting With Melkior's thoughts, you are plain wrong. Lab assistants are novice at all things, perhaps amateur at one thing. They should be given the simplest of tasks and/or walked through litterally everything. They represent people in the earliest stages of their college major who are using a job to help practice the fields they have chosen to learn. To even think about Lab Assistants this way is more in line: they are larbor. "I need a tool" or "carry this stack of papers for me" should be the normal for them. But on to the real point of this thread.

Meta, your comparison is flawed. The high education standards are for jobs that require it. "Dad taught me genetics" is well and good. Get a degree that proves it. Your dad may have thought you 50 year out dated techniques. Maybe he was a wash out. Perhaps your dad knew nothing and your lieing. NT has no way of knowing that unless you have a slip of paper from someone authorized to say "They know their shit!" I can flip burgers for days. Hell yeah! Doesn't mean I have the know how and skill to open a store and sell the burgers for a proper profit without going broke, even if the whole shebang was already paid for, I'd lose money and wash out without a proper degree or training that should take time to learn and years of practice to master.

Real time comparison. I wanna work as a web designer. Ok, that's cool. I learned it from youtube. I can make a website for myself. I go to a company to work for them. "So, it says on your application you can do this. Where did you go to school? Who, besides you, says you can?" I'd be denied it I said "YouTube." Lets say, by some miracle the boss is a turd and hires me. Then someone has an issue with their service and tosses you a technical term, oops, they didn't cover the term on the video. Perhaps they used a different name for it than the common one?

Long story short, schooling is required for things because corporate wants the proof.

• Scrap the flavor text you have right now. Redo it. Normalize your character's looks. No golden eyes, no ridiculous vampire teeth, get rid of the "crazy-looking expression". A character should never look as if they belong in a straitjacket. Make them normal-ish. Golden eyes are only okay if they're appearance/style enhancements like custom contact lenses. Avoid describing stuff like whether you're an innie or an outie, I doubt anybody is going to care even if you put it in there, aside from that detail just being slightly creepy by itself.
• Regarding the records. If she's 18, she'd only be able to take assistant-level jobs and have the same general knowledge an assistant would. Ask yourself, "Would it require a degree to perform this task?" If yes, don't do it. Limiting your OOC knowledge in IC is part of the point in roleplaying. More often than not, it creates not only realistic situations but fun ones, too. Often, it's more fun for observing parties when they witness you fumble or fail in a task you're not skilled in. If Seon-rin doesn't have a degree in electronics or engineering stuff, she shouldn't be seen hacking. At all.
  
• Avoid snowflake or cliche backstories, pls. The "escaped genetic experiment" thing has been done in media sources several times, and moreso in fanfics or independent novels. NEVER give your character special abilities or story advantages, all spacemen are created and robusted equally. Respect in-universe rules/physics.
  
• Know when not to take decisions too far. If your character is flirty or vulgar, be tasteful. If your character is confrontational or easy to anger, make sure you control your character's rage. If your character is detached/without emotion, know when to care in extreme circumstances. Edginess is not original nor do most people here find edgy themes very interesting, so, avoid doing that.
  
• Do not self-antag without very good IC reason. This is self-explanatory, I shouldn't have to explain that beating someone to death is way less preferable than leaving someone with a bloody nose for a small altercation. Escalate sensibly.
  
• Learn to listen. I'm not talking about being able to read or hear, I'm talking about being at least somewhat able to understand what folks are saying and take the opportunities that other community members offer you to become better. Sorry for being really meta here, but this does need to be said.
  
• Humility is a powerful attribute to have. It creates excellent impressions, but by itself it can lead to issues in the long run concerning trust. If you want to stick around here, you need to learn how to take responsibility for your actions and understand the difference between right and wrong. There is not always a fine line, and many instances have the community divided because of personal opinion or principle. Do what feels right.
  
• You do not need to apologize for yourself, you need only apologize for your actions. The only person who can change you, is you. It's not up to anyone to decide otherwise.

Oh, ignore the hate. Illdenberg is a menace at times, and her records/background could certainly use some cleaning up, but she's also an interesting character. Losing her would be unfortunate, but probably not as unfortunate as keeping the name and changing the rest of the character as some people are advising.

I have tried to convince myself that I should not post here, but I agree with Lady_of_Ravens' assessment. Seon-rin adds a considerable amount of personality to the station. I believe that she can do that without breaking the server's rules, and I'd like to ask that her player take every effort to adapt the character to the world that is presented to him or her.

Seon is a 19 year old half Korean half German (German nobility, apparently, if the Von is anything to off of) genetically engineered genius lab assistant bio engineer scientist police officer whose physical appearance seems to have been based off of a drawing you liked. Also, she distrusts authority and gets into trouble with the law nearly every round.

You might not be a bad roleplayer but your dedication to playing this awful character is baffling.
