Guest
alt title: "buff borgs plz oh god". Not unlike the maintenance drone gripper, the gripper is basically a device for borgs/androids/whatever to use and pick up items with, not unlike a human hand. Unlike normal humans, they only get to pick up one object at a time. They can pick up literally anything sans the captain's spare ID and the nuke disk. If cyborgs sustain damage while retaining an item in their gripper, they'll automatically 'drop' it. It would fix the issue with using metal rods to create supports as well as borgs being unable to replace lights without being a janitorborg. Regarding if this would be abused, well, we should whap abusers of the gripper, then? Link to comment
MagnificentMelkior
Why would it not work on the nuke disk and captain's ID if it works on everything else? Link to comment
SilverTalismen
Malf AI and Nuke, The bog would steal the spare or the nuke the station when hacked Link to comment
Zairral
I like this idea. Maybe also make it open lockers when empty and have the option to equip people with the held item if it's applicable. Link to comment
Skull132
No. Borgs are all access machines, highly resistant to damage, armed with a flash by default, able to ignore pain, fear, and space law. The entire point of them is that they have all of the above, but no hands. I'll see if I can find an ancient thread on the same topic, and have YeahChris explain why the answer to borghands should be "No". Link to comment

Unless your patient does not like pain, just let him put anesthetics on himself and let him lie down on the table. I do not see a problem. Link to comment
Guest
*cough* Borgs can just pull the ID/Nuke Disk anyway *cough* Link to comment

It doesnt work though :C if they arent on an operating table you have a chance to "fail" and strike your patient with your surgical instruments. is this not the case for roller beds? Link to comment

That's because borgs aren't meant to have the option to "be all end all". They're only meant to have the capability to assist and aid a department, not run it. Which is one of the reasons as to why they don't have hands. The point of playing a borg, without hands, is to make you think "How do I make this work?". Them not having hands makes them fairly balanced. Whilst this thread isn't about hands, but about borgs being able to pick things up, I'd argue the reasons would be the same. It's a challenge. Also no thank you to engineering borgs that have unlimited RCD and hands. Link to comment
Garnascus
i dont think borgs should have hands, i just want to be able to put em on the operating table..... Link to comment
Vanagandr
i dont think borgs should have hands, i just want to be able to put em on the operating table..... That is exactly what nurses are for. Alternately, regular assistants. "Put patient on table" does not require a great deal of mental ability, after all; even a common bald can PUT THE SAW BACK RIGHT NOW. Link to comment
