Yeah I'm sorry about this 13, but It had to be done, I bid you no ill will, but this was pretty bad..

So during the nuke round like 5 minutes ago, I played a Nuke op with a policy on killing innocents, after seeing another nuke op shoot and then kill COvert's CE, I decided to defect as my Charcater had been disillusioned with the integrity of his squad, So thus when a head of staff arrived (Xander) he contacted them and played the part of James Blair, Biesal Military and Nanotrasen Internal Security, The CMO believed him and so did Seto and his squad, So I went around to escort the CMO, and then tried to recieve orders from seto, everything went nice until the end as the Singulo was gobbling up the station, I was heading to the Pods, and then i see Vira at the corner of my eye and she starts shooting a Law giver with highly explosive rounds, I tried several times to tell her to stop and that I was a member of Biesal Security and she just kep[t shooting like four Hugh Ex rounds at me, without any Rp, which I know is in generally bad taste. As final notes I WAS wearing the red hardsuit, However I did announce that I nicked it because mine was destroyed.

If you're wearing obvious military grade gear, you should not be hunted down by a self-armed scientist.

This is something I promised I would job ban people for, and while that now falls outside of my jurisdiction, I hate this kind of behavior from research staff and it needs to be curbed. So, my personal suggestion, as a former regular member of science staff, is to job ban Delta until he appeals and figures out why scientists arming themselves and acting like this is:

  • metagaming
  • powergaming
  • generally bad behaviour

I'm in agreement with Skull - there is no excuse for a scientist to hunt nuke ops, even less gank them, and even less gank them when they made no intent to fight.

This seems like blatant abuse - I'd nevertheless like to hear 1138's side before handing out a verdict, but as I said on Seven_Ghost's complaint, this is the kind of behavior we cannot accept from characters in science. I'm tending towards a jobban.

1138's a great roleplayer, and I love Vira as a sassy Captain. The problem is Vira's an elite trained soldier who regularly does ERT/Captain/Scientist, so it would probably be a case of Vira having too many specialties because she takes the Plasma Researcher job when she doesn't want to Captain but still acts like a Soldier and hunts antags. Especially when she gets her hands on a Lawgiver.

How old is Vira? Because a captain with extended military training and scientific knowledge is fairly Mary Sue-ish.

Edit: I'm not saying it's undoable. But I'm expecting the roleplay from a person taking on so many responsibilities to be absolutely spotless, from an OOC fashion.

Acting like that goes against a count of fundimental principals that modern soldiers are taught.

Never conduct action alone, unless it can't be helped - in this case it could be, by not initiating contact

Civilians first - effective ROE would only grant permission to initiate contact when the opponent poses an immediate risk to a civilian.

I formally apologize for my actions during this round. I was tired, I didn't get nuke ops, and I immediately rushed research to get lawgivers for sec once I heard 'redsuits with guns'. Sec ended up getting killed for the most part. My goal wasn't to gib nuke ops specifically since the vast majority of them had all died before I even left my department to escape Lord Singuloth that got released at the end of the round to make matters even worse.

So I went straight for the arrivals escape pods. Unfortunately, some nuke op was following me on my way to get to arrivals. My first priority was surviving and not getting eaten by Singuloth, so I whispered "High Ex" into the lawgiver and shot him over and over again. If it was any other situation without singuloth and meteors, I would have treated it with more RP and I would not have even thought of killing you.

I prioritized my own survival over RP. It was really shitty of me to do so but I felt it was the preferred course of action. I was extremely stressed out due to the horrid lag, stupid bald scientists that round coupled with other underlying personal issues I should have dealt with over playing 2d spessman nuke games.

I also couldn't take the risk that you weren't one of the other remaining nuke ops that slaughtered the entirety of the station. It was bloody code red, and I flipped out when I saw a nuke op following me while Singuloth ate the AI, medical, and escape.

I also didn't know you were in cohoots with the heads. Lack of communication between departments really sucks and I wish I had known you defected. You turning against your own team would've been the last thing to go through my mind while attempting to escape the singulo.

Arming myself with lawgivers was a really fucking stupid idea. It was late night and I thirsted for 2d spessman blood. I should've gone straight to bed or played Space Rangers 2 when I wanted lawgivers to shoot nuke ops with.

I'm going to start playing responsibly from now on, even with any kind of antag round. I will not power/metagame again with science, I might even consider to stop playing it because of how easy it is to exploit the dumbest SS13 mechanics to fuck other people over.

If I want to robust people as the Latina badass ever again, I'll place her in freaking sec. Science is wayyy too damn tempting to powergame.

I'm going to read over my dad's old military SOP book and perhaps learn from it and try to make myself a better player for this situation turned shitshow.

This is actually a sensible reply, and I'm willing to hold back on the jobban, should I be assured this kind of incident never happens again.

Two things.

Firstly, shooting someone with lethals, without roleplay, when they're not shooting at you, is never okay. This should be a tenet of heavy-rp.

Secondly, one point that I'm really glad to see you touch on, is making the weapons and choosing to wield one. The moment you get hold of game-changing gear, whether that be a lethal weapon, a mech, or anything else, you become responsible for them - your job is to ensure you do not use them to create mayhem and chaos that is unconductive to roleplay - because this kind of gear is filled with opportunities for bad things to happen. And as I was telling Swat a long time ago, when they had built and piloted a mech which effectively crashed an event due to them being too trigger-happy, power comes with responsibility. And while characters with a military background might want to occasionally go out and bust some skulls, they must still abide by the same rules every other player follows. Which leaves you with two choices - either break character if you must, which is better than breaking the rules (and ruining someone else's game in a very avoidable way), or make sure not to put yourself into situations where you will have to make a call that will be either ridiculous or end up with a gank. But basically, if you know you're having a bad day and are thirsting for 2D spessmen blood, it might be best to leave the gun at home.

I am very much against science making a ton of weapons and arming themselves with them in a crisis situation, because it will lead to them having to use them in potentially unfair ways, and will create a lot of upset.

If there was a way to make the protolathe possess restricted access requirements or something of the sort such as the R&D him/herself being the only ones with the access to make said protopistols/lawgivers, that'd be a viable option if we didn't have whitelisting.

Science should be responsible enough to know when to make or not make weapons. There's plenty of things they can use in bad ways, not just lawgivers - I'd rather trust people not to rambo.

I've decided on exiling myself from science until I can safely say I will be responsible enough to not power/meta my way to victory every single antag round (or just job ban me just to be sure). I will consider RP and RL logic before I commit to an action. I will start considering consequences, both positive and negative, for any possible or present scenario.

I really hope a situation like this happens ever again, Tytos. I apologise for making your experience really shitty but my own was perhaps a little around your level of misery that round.
