Make flamethrower fire catch people on fire instantly

See title. Flamethrowers are hardly useful if you have to stun people in order for them to even catch alight. It's silly and dumb to do spaceman gymnastics in order to set a bunch of people on fire.

I agree with this. All though the throwers don't leave fuel around anymore, they still do pretty much nothing but look cooler. I literally couldn't burn a mouse to death in maintenance, I had to bludgeon it with the thrower.

Perhaps if they acted somewhat like a welding-fuel only chemsprayer?


Welding fuel fires are a bit OP though.


Being literally on fire does not seem to do much as-is as far as I can tell.

Archangel used to have flamers that spat out fireballs as projectiles, did burn damage and lit the target on fire. Maybe we can do something like that?

I can change the code of flammenwerfer fuel to instacoat someone, upon getting werfed. Flammenwerfer fuel is actually very nasty: a goopy type of petrol, basically. It sticks to everything and is a PITA to get off, so this change would make sense.


As for mob-related fire mechanics, yeah, they kill very fucking slowly. for some reason, they don't apply damage right off the bat. I need to look into that.

We already have something like that with incendiary rounds.
