How long have you been playing on Aurora?:Since Sept. 2015.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?:I feel that a head whitelist will open up more opportunity for me to roleplay and have fun on the server.

Why did you come to Aurora?:After the death of Hypatia, I wanted to join another mostly-extended HRP server, but I found roleplay with antags can be quite fun.

Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?:I have.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:

Roleplay is assuming the role of a fictional character or characters, and to the best of one's ability, emulating the emotions and actions of the character(s), given their circumstances. I believe roleplay should be about creating and playing as a character, and having a fun time with others, while ensuring also that others are able to have a fun time.


What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?:

The purpose of staff heads is to provide a leadership role within the departments, so as to maintain order and efficiency. They are responsible for the productivity of their department, and for ensuring a safe working environment for employees. Heads of staff should have extensive knowledge in their field, and should be able to both ICly and OOCly work with their given department, while also managing employees within that department..


What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:

Whitelisted members of the community are expected to set examples by holding themselves to a high standard of roleplay, following the rules, and ensure a fun round for other players to the best of their ability. It should also be important that head of staff players not metagame or powergame by working outside of their department for a personal character benefit. In addition, whitelisted players should get to know their characters, and how they think, feel, and act under stress.

Character name:Jacob Locke

Character age:38

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs):

Jacob Locke was born on a small and poorly funded mining colony on Acacia, where there was no shortage of faulty machinery. As a teenager, Locke found himself interested in the inner workings of the outpost's machinery, and under the supervision of the outpost's two engineers, he would sometimes assist them in repairing the outpost's systems. Having gone through an accelerated version of the K-12 program, Locke received his general education diploma at age 16, and moved away from Acacia to attend an engineeing university at Sol.

At the university, Locke earned a BS in mechanical engineering after three years. Working as an engineering apprentice, and then a full engineer at a small shipyard for a couple of years, Locke sought higher education and upward mobility in his work. He applied for and started graduate school at age 21, earning a Doctorate of Engineering at age 25. Returning to the shipyard for a few years, where he also received some atmospherics experience, Locke still found the job was not as fulfilling as he wanted, so he looked for work elsewhere. He applied to several major corporations, Einstein Engines and NanoTrasen among them. Accepted to NanoTrasen, Locke worked as a engineer there for seven years, applying for and recieving a pay upgrade to Tier 6e, along with an Engine Technician certification. Working as an ET for another three years at NanoTrasen, Locke decided to apply for a position as Chief Engineer aboard one of NanoTrasen's larger stations. Meeting all the requirements, but not having any previous management experience, Locke is now waiting for a response from NanoTrasen.

What do you like about this character?:

I believe Jacob Locke's background and solid determination within his field is his greatest asset, as he believes that, given the proper tools, he can do, build, or repair almost anything.

What do you dislike about this character?:

Despite his heavy engineering knowledge, outside of his field he is completely helpless. He has no experience in any other fields, and while as professional as they come in terms of engineering, he strongly dislikes having to do anything outside of his department. He also has little experience in managing others, and although he has plenty of experience working with others and resource management, he fears his strong resolve and determination in his department might not be enough to keep everyone in line.

What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?:

In addition to meeting all the listed requirements, Locke is more than determined to do anything necessary to keep his department alive and in working order. His department will always come first for him, and what he lacks in management experience, he makes up for in a very extensive engineering background. On top of his experience and dedication, Locke has shown a record of following proper procedure when paperwork or superior approval is required. Locke is all-around a very competent engineer, and meets all necessary qualifications for a head of staff position.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?:7.5/10, I think I'm a solid roleplayer, but I know there are some things I could do better.

I... Cannot give a solid plus or minus, I'm afraid. While I have RPed little bits with Alexia and Connor, and the RPer seems fine, I have not RPed with the character in question. Might want to play that character as a normal engineer first, let people see and know that character, before you let them judge him.

Alright, I have had interactions with all of Garbage's characters at least two or three times. All of those were generally good experiences and I didn't see many issues with their roleplay. After a short read through of their application, I didn't see any blatantly obvious issues with it. With those to combined, I would feel confident with allowing Garbage to have a Command whitelist.

Not enough IC interaction, yadda yadda. Now, on to making an educated judgement call from other sources.


I read through your posts in the Syndicate Transmission Network section the other day and found them to be enjoyable. I've also crept around as a ghost and watched you play Alexa Lei, and enjoyed your interactions with other crewmembers as well. In OOC, you also seem to be a responsible and competent player, and your explanatory statements regarding roleplaying and the whitelist indicate that as well. Your biography was well written and pleasant to read, while also providing a strong sense of the timeline of Jacob's life. I especially enjoyed your choice of setting and the way in which Jacob was taught engineering. His lack of comfortable familiarity with command and social situations also feels well explained, and doesn't make it seem like you just want to be lazy.


You have my approval, as well.

Why is this Garbage not a Head Staff? She is fairly competent and usually quiet with things, not even a trouble out of her.


As a Security Officer, once awhile when I talk to Alexei Lei. I liked talking to you. I like when we bond our relations.
