whiterabit
BYOND key: Whiterabit Character names: Alexis Sutton, Lyla Rathen, Stephanie Moore, Katie Auman, Aaliyah Kha'jur, Natalya Zimmer, Verna Marshall, Carrie(pai, borg) How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Six months or so. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?:Some of the roles I’m interested in making characters for are restricted behind it and I feel like it could be fun to start moving into head positions. Why did you come to Aurora?: I was looking through heavy RP servers and Aurora was one of the only populated ones on the public server list. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Maybe. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: At it’s base it’s about stepping into the shoes of someone else. You put them through different situations, see them react, change and simply be in the situations presented. The mixture of other players doing the same can make it easy for a character to move well past what you may have originally planned for them, though that’s part of what makes it so interesting. In the end, it’s about enjoyment, it should be about having an enjoyable time whether you’re no matter how deep or shallow you make your character but through the interaction made by the situations presented to them. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of Staff have multiple purposes, one is to set a standard for their department, another is to help take stress off the players in their department and allow them the easiest time playing. When someone sees a head, it’s typical that they’ll see them as a representative of what anyone in the department should be like. Because of this it’s important to set an example, through how you act of what your department should be. Just as well, many times as a head of staff, your job is to coordinate your team in order to make sure things are running smoothly or keeping them from having to handle all of the overhead themselves. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players are also meant to set a standard, though in a different way. While Head of Staff are meant more to represent how their staff should act, a whitelisted player is someone others will look to in order to get an idea of how a whitelisted player is meant to act. Just as a poor attitude or improper procedure as a Head may set poor examples for your staff, the same poor attitude from the player can set a poor example of someone who is meant to represent the more trusted players. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Aaliyah Kha’jur Character age: 27 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Copypasted from catbeast app: M'sai were revered as hunters and warriors, at just a glance of their forms the reason for this comparison was obvious. Slender, lankly limbs made them effective hunters, and even their fur was a warning, a true representation of the phrase "Survival of the Fittest". By now the vast majority of M'sai had fur well matching the frozen landscape of their established territory. It should come as no surprise how adamant the Hadii were in recruiting the M'sai following their rise to power. Sixty-two point eight percent, that's how much of a part they made up in the People's Army of Adhomai. Like many other M'sai, her family were loyalists to the Hadii and the People's Republic which they grew. Contrary to what might have been expected, they weren't hunters or warriors instead they held titles such as smith, mason or builder. This was before their rapid uplift to modern society, following human intervention at the hands of NanoTrasen and the Sol Alliance, their needs became much more complex. Heavy artillery installations, bunkers to withstand them, machines and buildings infinitely more complex than their parents could have even dreamed of. Human interference was becoming more and more prevalent in Adhomai, with the rapid advancement of Tajaran at their hands it was to be expected that aspects of human society would be adapted. Construction projects were overseen by foreman, lists of names to be sent up for higher review. Tajaran names were often hard for humans to pronounce and form after form of nothing but could prove to be a strain. Many new born Tajaran were given names much easier for a human to work with, Aaliyah Kha'jur was just one of many examples of this. Aaliyah spent the majority of her formative years shadowing her parents as they assisted in the simple construction required for expansion of the Hadii's Republic. Only after the secession of the Liberation Army were the needs of the Republic's strength so great that they were required to focus heavily on the bunkers and installations like the ones of the previous war. Need for labor saw Aaliyah continuing in her parents footsteps, aiding in the construction of the many emplacements necessary for defense. Even if they weren't fighting in People's Army, their work was hardly safe. It was often preferable for the Liberation Army to eliminate an installation during its construction than to wait for it to be completed. Following one such incident, Aaliya and her family found themselves, like many others, casualties of war. Their wounds weren't important, but what was, was the time they spent in hospitals. Medicine had advanced just as rapidly and everything else had following their uplift, but just like anywhere else, it was expensive. The time and resources dedicated to their recovery began to pile up and her and her family hadn't been much for saving. Nano-Trasen promotional material was by no means hard to find in the more established cities of the People's Republic, and marketing health insurance as a mask for low wages in the middle of war proved more often than not to be a solid strategy. Aaliya, as well as some of the more impressionable siblings signed their contract with the hopes of cutting away the debt that they had built up. What do you like about this character?: I like that she’s non-confrontational yet still competent. I enjoy that when I play her I typically need to look for alternative ways of dealing with conflict than if I were playing one of my other characters. Where Alexis is more of a straight shooter, Katie may avoid conflict entirely, Natalya probably isn’t even on station or Stephanie is likely part of the cause, Aaliyah may be involved but she avoids tackling it straight on. What do you dislike about this character?: She can be indecisive if she doesn’t fully understand what she’s meant to be doing. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Something I’ll note below is that I currently don’t plan to move her to CE and even if this is accepted she’ll be staying as apprentice for a while, more details in extras. I think she’d be fit to be as she’s coming to learn a lot about her department and how it works, including the intricacies. She makes fairly liberal use of this knowledge, explaining what she’s learned to anyone in her department who doesn’t know it and anything she doesn’t know she’s eager to learn. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: eeeeeee/10. I already rated this on my tajara app, which was something like; I can’t judge myself on this, just gotta wait and see what other have to say about me. Extra notes: This application is not meant to make Aaliyah CE. I have no plans of making Aaliyah Chief Engineer any time soon, she’s still in her apprenticeship and doesn’t meet occupation qualifications as of yet. My hope is to, at some time in the future move her toward it, but as of right now that isn’t my plan. My plan with this app is to make a couple new characters entirely to fill the roles of some head positions, IA, Captain, HoP. However the application required I use an existing character and the only other character I could really use would be Alexis, a character who I also don’t plan on moving up to HoS either until certain changes to her personality are done. Though I haven’t had much interested in sec recently so that probably isn’t anything to worry about. Aaliyah just being the only character who I thought I’d like to move into a head position at some point and whom I also had a backstory written out for. Link to comment
ArcBot
Whiterabit is cool stuff, definitely competent enough for a head of staff role. They show great role-playing ability, and I think they deserve a chance to show they can role-play a HoS position. +1 from me. Link to comment
pickled_tomato
Here's my obligatory message vouching for Rabit as a whole. It's totally not biased. So, where to begin. I've played with Rabit a lot. An incredibly large number of times, many of said times being entire rounds. Her character Alexis Sutton, and mine, Isabella Silva, are on good terms, since they've both been security'ing for a while. Rabit's a solid player all around, is incredibly confident, and, actually, I like to think of Rabit as a very intelligent person in general, as Rabit's displayed time and time again just how well they can handle everything that's thrown at them in a fun an interesting way. Smart, planned out, fun, confident, fair(a thing I rather like), and realistic, are all words I'd use to describe how Rabit plays and holds themselves up, and I have absolutely no doubt that Rabit would make an excellent Head of Staff character, regardless of what role it's for. I give a very confident, and honor-bound +1 Link to comment
Mofo1995
Minimum age for heads of staff is 30, -1 permaban him please. Kidding of course, supposing this is simply retconned. I know that Aaliyah Kha’jur has been around the station, but I personally haven't met her mostly because I've been whoring myself out for the mayoral campaign without end, and engineers are typically out of reach. I can, however, attest to the competency of WhiteRabit, as I've seen Alexis Sutton as interim head of security multiple times. In fact, I actually thought he had his head of staff whitelist, especially given the maturity they seemed to demonstrate, but this apparently wasn't so. I think the player (mind you, I can't testify to the character herself) would be a good fit for command staff. So, of course, +1 if a 3 year jump in age is all right. Link to comment
whiterabit
Yeah, obviously the plan would be to age her up when I actually wanted to start pushing her toward CE. Right now though I'm happy with her as apprentice and the age isn't much of an issue for as long as she stays apprentice or even when she ends up promoted to full on engineer. I'll end up aging her up once I start taking IC steps to move her toward the position. Link to comment
DatBerry
1+ from me, as i usually play assistant i interact with officer stutters a lot, although a barbie doll waifu, she does her job competently enough, even when lazing off they have a laptop to check on valids where ever they are. They're one of the officers i dont have to worry about getting arrested by for taking down a table. too bad i dont get to interact with their hot bimbo catineer a lot, but ive seen them enough to know they follow standards. I believe ribit can handle a head whitelist, probably. Link to comment
The Stryker
1+ Whiterabit is good at coordinating security already, and shows enough knowledge of what a head is, to be a head. Link to comment
