Ricky_the_banshee
BYOND Key: Ricky madenson Character Names: Shane Halevy, Curel Wald (And many others who I rarely play) Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Dark-Green Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Multiple times Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: After reading the Unathi lore multiple times, I can't help to feel but become a part of this in some way. And what else would be a better way than actually being one! Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The Unathi's mannerisms remind me of past Feudal systems we used to have on Earth, the longest and most recent one who used to have would be Feudal Japan (no weeb things intended.). Everyone represents their clan. Everyone is expected to futfill a certain role in honour of their clan. That is something we rarely find in Humanity of today (or the 25th Century.) Character Name: Sa'vare Umonga Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs It is year 2458. A tall, Dark-Green Unathi by the name of Sa'vare Umonga steps foot on onboard a small shuttle. Years have passed since Sa'vare remembered fighting for his clan and to protect what he believed was just. The Contact Wars, that was how the Human missionaries called it. Sa'vare remembered it as the ultimate challenge. The challenge which proved his clan wasn't just a pathetic collection of traditional fisherman, as the rival Clans among them would refer them as. Before Sa'vare set foot on the shuttle, he'd look back at his family, his clan, his brothers and sisters raising their fishing hooks for him before he departed. Sa'vare would suddenly recall to his life. The first time he set foot as a young Unathi infant. The very first moment he was allowed to set sail with his father and clansmen as a twelve year old, in the giant mass of water that is the Moghresian Sea. The first time his mother explained him the meaning of his name, "Rider of the Wind". He would listen to the tales of the War Riders and their ferocious Threshbeasts told by his Uncle, a proud Unathi who was able to escape the restraints of being merely part of a fisherman clan by becoming a warrior. Sa'vare always dreamt of becoming a warrior like his uncle, and it became truth. He remembers the harsh training against his warrior brethen. The little combat experience he had as a Unathi came from fighting the local wildlife and the training his Uncle would gladly provide him with. After his training, he was announced as one of the many succesful warriors who had passed the training. In his 20s he would bare witness to Moghes first contact with Alien life. Simplistics creatures, lacking scales. One of them appeared almost jelly-like while the others were of bald while holding some bit of hair on their head. He remembered watching them shaking hands with the Izweski on live broadcasting, much to his surprise. Then months later, he would be called to arms. Sa'vare recalled when he asked if the Aliens were up to something when much to his surprise the Warchief responded with; "No, we will be fighting our own as usual.". The words surprised Sa'vare, he never had the chance to actually kill one of his own. It would have been easier to kill a faceless Alien than a fellow brethen. But deep down, he knew he could not refuse to battle now that he is a warrior. The war he always looked out for turned out differently as expected. Artillery, missiles, Energy weaponry, even the Breacher Suit he was given was a huge change to him. Sa'vare never had the time to properly come with this new form of warfare. But then on a faithful day that was September 5th, everything changed. His squadron was on the move when they saw a _bright_ flash ahead of them. So intensen and blinding, they thought a new Sun had appeared. It wasn't only 5 minutes later untill their radio announced mass genocide that occured to their city of destination,Da’ha’den. Struck with joy when he realized he avoided a terrible fate than dying a senseless battle, he'd replace his joy with hatred towards the Traditionalists. Who claimed to denounce the change of their culture, but didn't worry to utilize such advanced weaponry as their triumph card. Sa'vare dedicated his time and life into fighting the Traditionalists on the last battlefields before the rest of the bombs had struck their beloved planet, scarring it forever. Weeks had passed and the war finally ended. Sa'vare, struck with joy but also sadness had to think of his fallen comrades. Dead because of a senseless war without honour. Sa'vare grew into an older, grumpier shadow of his former self. Bored of his life as a veteran who is now once again stepping in the footsteps of his clan as fishermen. But then, his Uncle passed by and showed him a brochure of a Massive company, looking for extra forces for their newest station known as the "NSS Exodus". Sa'vare saw once again an opportunity to prove his honour and strenght as a warrior, thus he enlisted to the Biesel Academy and got accepted as a cadet. Sa'vare snaps back to reality, as he glances back at his clansmen holding up their fishing rods. . He was free from his fate as a fisherman. Free from the burdens of a senseless war. This was the start of a brand new World for him. This was his Exodus. He'd raise up his right claw, roaring out his joy What do you like about this character? He's fairly old and traditional, (with little change allowed). While he signed the Loyalty Pledge with relunctance, it doesn't stop him from honouring his clan by doing his job with efficiency. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I think I'd give myself a 7/10? I'm not so good with rating myself. Notes: Please provide as much feedback as possible! Both negative and positive are nice! Link to comment
Shadow
-1, you suck. Can't find anything negative. Had some good interactions with them. Solid +1 from me. Link to comment
whiterabit
Ricky Madenson is a pretty great roleplayer, actually I'd say one of the better I've seen at the community. It's really to the point that I don't even need to make a post about it because everyone knows it. Curel Wald is executed so well you'd forget her name was a STUPID PUN. Also if I can play a furry catbeast then Ricky can more than handle a lizard. I'm only posting here because Ricky needs some people to post obvious opinions about the fact that he can handle this. veradox
From my time witnessing Ricky's responses to situations and maintaining of composure to their character, Curel Wald, it's a fascinating and well-appreciated prospect of them being able to expand their ability to develop quirks and interesting roleplay qualities on another species. A usually interesting character, I feel like with their current backstory, they'll be able to promote an invocative and entertaining character design. +1, for what it's worth. Link to comment
Pyrociraptor
From what I've seen with his "Curel Wald" character, Ricky's one of the most "RP player". So a new unlocked race for him could bring us a whole new roleplay experience. +1 Link to comment
Faris
I've had a lot of interactions with Ricky, especially with Curel Wald, never disappointed. +1 from me. Link to comment
Octanus
Curel Wald is an impressive character and is very well thought out. If Ricky plays his unathi like he does Curel, I think it'd be plenty of fun for everyone. +1 Link to comment
Cronac
I can give this a +1 for sure. Plenty of good interactions with Curel off of memory. Link to comment
Superballs
A+ CQC rating. I had the chance to RP with Doctor Wald with both of my current characters, Aito and Ash. Doctor Wald was actually one of the few psychiatrists who did their job (a purely RP job) to resolve Aito's mental state after seeing his close colleague getting gibbed right before his eyes. Playing as Ash, Doctor Wald put one hell of a fight in the holodeck. 1+ Link to comment
