SierraKomodo Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Basically, for things like these posts to be up on the wiki itself, with that section directly linked on the front page, so people can stop saying 'Well I didnt see this on the forums because theres 48564798579821 threads since it was last replied to so bleh' and to make it easier to keep track of whats current and enforced. Naturally this suggestion includes giving CCIA access to write/edit these wiki pages https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=5539#p55288 https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=6678
Owen Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 This isn't a bad idea. Could definitely help with making sure that our regulations are seen and that we don't need to rely on people to mention it ingame. I'd support this. It doesn't seem too complicated to set up either.
UnknownMurder Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I'd also like to include https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=5854 to the OP's post since I've had two Command Staffs whom were "Oh. I was not aware of this, I'm sorry, Agent Graves. Would you find it in your heart to forgive me?" Can be used as a reminder. +1
Arrow768 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 I dont see the need to have yet another page to keep up2date. We already have this in place: https://byond.aurorastation.org/ccia/generalnotice Which can be accessed by everyone with a forum account and is also tied into the verb that lets DOs create a new announcement.
Owen Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Yeah, I am not sure if that was completely working when this suggestion was made. The General Notice is pretty good and as Arrow said, we can just go to that and choose one to automatically format and send.
SierraKomodo Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 The issue with using general notices for this is the complete lack of specific details due to needing to keep it from being a wall of text in game. For comparison: Uniform regulation on the notice board: https://byond.aurorastation.org/ccia/generalnotice/7/show Uniform regulation as the fully detailed forum post: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=5539#p55288
Mofo1995 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 I agree with this. Some of our recent notices, from processing time regulations onwards in the list, are long and only get longer. And besides, having randomly selected in-game notices isn't the perfectly accessible way to give the subjects exposure, but if we had them listed somewhere along with other regs and rulings, it would help a ton with clarity on the regulations I'm sure.
Arrow768 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Just an FYI right now it does not display a random notice ingame. It merely ties into the announcement menu allowing you to select if you want to use a announcement template or make a new one. Once/if the automatic display is implemented there will be a checkbox allowing you to set if it should be shown or not. My point is right now we already have two placed to check for ccia regs. Rather than adding a 3rd place for people to check that will be updated (or not) we should work to improve the two places we already have.

Yeah, it was never randomly displayed by any algorithm, rather CCIAAs randomly pick one from the template list. Hmm, you're right though. We could just as easily keep a thread up in the head of staff section or maybe even the NT personnel database. I didn't know that everyone could look at it on the WI, I missed your post earlier. So there is one place which for sure has them all that is public access.

Back when I was CCIA, I made this thread for this exact purpose and it was mostly ignored by the playerbase: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=5539
