Synnono
Riding on a very good but totally separate suggestion I had the thought (again) today that there needs to be some way to remove the Horsemask forced on someone by Curse of The Horseman. It used to be possible in old code with the assistance of chemistry, but right now I don't think it is able to be removed without the wizard's direct help. Generally, my thought is that wizards who use this spell as a temporary diversion or intimidation tool are fine. Those who use it to leave them on players heads forever, so they are unable to communicate for the rest of the round, are not. Not being able to talk is not terribly fun, especially on a large scale when someone gets a little too horse-happy. Pair it with disabling the PDA messaging server, and someone is basically resigned to being a mute doofus in ME emotes for however long is left in the round. It sitnks. I want there to be some sort of option to get it off my character's head, without making the spell a trivial thing to counter. Some quick thoughts: - The acid method from old code still sounds pretty good (requires medical, dangerous?) - Surgical procedure to separate the mask from the face (also requires medical, also dangerous?) - Resist a la handcuff removal (stay still for 5+ minutes? Brute damage to the head?) - Have it naturally expire as magic after a set duration? - Separating the wizard from his or her equipment, or destroying the equipment dispels the effect? - Crew have to otherwise assist someone to get it off their head? Prompt interaction with people? If there is a way to remove it without a forgiving/living/present wizard, I'm not aware of one. Does anyone think this should be a thing, or have better ways to suggest it? Link to comment
Mofo1995
I'm all for this. In a game which relies almost completely on communication and social interaction to create stories and fun, being permenantly horse masked is worse than death if PDAs are down and you don't know sign language. An entirely horsemasked station is fun for no one except the wizard, and I've honestly just resulted to going cryo anytime I'm masked, since it's almost always done with no context or roleplay. Just "haha, I ran up horsed you and ran away." I'm all for it being an effective distraction or a method of punishment for those who would get mouthy with a powerful wizard, but a permanent multi-hour long complete removal from being able to talk to anyone while looking ridiculous with a stupid mask just isn't fun. I'd rather get fireball ganked and spend spend the rest of the round as a ghost, or maybe get cloned. Add ways to remove it, please. These are my personal and biased clearly salty opinions. It shouldn't be removed completely, just expanded upon with these proposed solutions to add roleplay rather than stymy it. Link to comment
Chaznoodles
Have it expire if the person moves out of line of sight of the wizard, breaking concentration. No other way. This removes the usage of it to permanently block communications, whilst still keeping it relevant. Link to comment
Nanako
the spell is entirely stupid and memeworthy, i say just remove it entirely Link to comment
Bedshaped
A simple 5 minute timer will suffice in my opinion. Urist McMob's equine features melt away... Link to comment
Arrow768
I prefer the options that involve other people * Surgical Removal * Removal with acid Link to comment
