HouseOfSynth
BYOND Key: House_Of_Synth Character Names:(to name a few) Ikrad Yam'hir, Arrko'vi Az'dirra, Rivers Flowing Through Sky and Remus Avardy. Species you are applying to play: IPC. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Other than to further my progress in gaining all whitelists? Well for a start an IPC has a different "style" of RP in comparison to some other races, They feel no pain and in some cases no emotion. It's this that can make an IPC so sophisticated or so simplistic; they have variety and a lot of room for imagination when it comes to creating them. You can have an IPC that's cold, ruthless and does not care for anything or anyone except what it's programming dictates or and IPC full of simulated emotion and personality. OOCly (Like most races) I find IPCs quite interesting, considering their relatively young age as a "Species" and that they can be subject to quite a bit of racism which is always fun to deal with in terms of RP. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Like I said when making some points above, an IPC personality can be quite imaginative, or quite dull. Either way this seperates them from most other races.. They also have different mechanics for certain things such as EVA (Requiring a suit cooler) and being hugely prone to EMP damage. Meaning you have to be extra careful in some situations whereas you wouldn't as a human. Character Name: Tesla Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs The following is a transmission from Alverco. A high quality synthetic unit manufacturer. Greetings! Here at Alverco we have become quite advanced in Artificial Intelligence over the years. You may have noticed some of our "Tesla" station-bound androids working around the place. Our state of the art research in AI algorithms is allowing us to reach new heights! Now for the important news, we are hereby announcing a new product. We have decided to release a Tesla model with more sophisticated programming than your average station-bound unit, not to mention the fact the Positronic Brain is encased in a state-of-the-art chassis. Yes that's right, Tesla has been given a version that comes in the form of an IPC. But it doesn't end there, our AI experts have been working on a complex personality dampening algorithm, making sure their possible feelings don't get in the way of their designated purpose. Meanwhile in a Alverco warehouse... An IPC, one of the thousands hung on the adapted racks, suddenly lights up. It's screen scrolling rapidly through logs as it boots up.. Suddenly the screen turns blue, a single error upon it. Corruption detected in Dampening Algorithm What do you like about this character? They stand out from their other models due to this "corruption".. I plan to have them phase in and out of having a personality and being a dull, emotionless Line IPC.. Nothing rulebreaking of course, simply them fading between both in a non-insane way. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would give myself a 7 or 8/10, although I would like others to make that judgement also, since I'm probably subconsciously bias. Notes: Got any constructive critisism or something nice to say? Posting it down below is highly appreciated! Link to comment
Limodish
FIRSST good application, way better than mine: +1 Link to comment
Pyrociraptor
Ahah, Synth playing a Synth. More seriously, +1; He already got a diona and tajaran app, and know how to play them. Link to comment
Coalf
DIRTY SYNTH LOVER But in all seriousness I support this app and fully, I often nag at the backstory being short but right here I can see that House is keeping this short on purpose and not because he lacks imagination or information. In that short text I have been given enough information to know what kind of IPC he plans to play and what I'm going to encounter in game, although the broken IPC is kind of a trope now, but I wouldn't mind a more emotional(I'm guilty of this too) IPC in game as most of them are just borgs with hands which can get tiring not only to the player of that character but to others around him. I interacted with him plenty of times and I know for a fact that House is a good roleplayer, although his fashion sense is shit fucking magboots and beret. But +1 to this guy, hoping to see more robots to abuse. Link to comment
calion12
Not sure if my opinion counts considering I'm a filthy filthy new blood but i find IPC interresting and synth in my experiences is a decent RPer so +1 from me despite the shortness of this reply. Link to comment
icy_dew
synth's a good player, and probably an A+ synth (why.). +1 Link to comment
DatBerry
It was only a matter of time before synth went full synth. The answers look good, the story is short, good but it has me wondering, the IPCs are designed so that emotions wont hinder their work, but this one is broken, is there a pattern to when it flips the switch, a trigger event or would you just switch personalities when it suits you best? How would you make sure nanotrasen doesnt find out? They would send you back for repairs or a replacement when they find out their IPC wont kill space carp because "it has feelings too!" Good question, I'm not entirely sure when the "switch" would happen, right now I'm torn by situations that require alot of "processing" and situations that are classed as stressful.. Eitherway it would probably still kill carp, emotional side being it could cause harm to the crew the IPC might count as basic friends and "dampening" side it would probably see them as a hinderance to work. Of course being a model shipped to NT stations it would follow regulations as standard, and from my knowledge killing carp is perfectly fine in the lawful eyes of NanoTrasen. Either personality wont make it just stop working, it's just that one is alot more Pro-work without unnecessary interaction than the other. Link to comment
Tequilajoe
Your ability to RP as a diona was satisfactory, I'm sure you can handle playing an IPC. If anything, hopefully it will mean you spend less time being a dirty catbeast +1 Link to comment
