UnknownMurder Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Often, most people mistake Cyborgs for Androids, Androids for Robots, and Robots for Cyborgs, and vice versa because they're lazy and does not want to use Shift-Click to identify the type of synthetic it is. That can be explained, human society is a lazy society. I call upon a proposal a way to identify synthetics by their icons. This being Androids (Specifically Engineering) This being Cyborgs This being Robots How about it? It's like one of my Japanese cartoons.
Nanako Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 lack of icons. We don't have a sufficient stock of sprites for synthetics, nor the spriting staff to create them
VileFault Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Man, IPC's still have literal screens for heads and you are talking about adding bound cyborg variety? Maybe if you wanted to divvy up the sprites we already have for each borg?
SierraKomodo Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 The thing is, realistically speaking, the only difference between a cyborg, android, and robot is the 'processor' behind it. A cyborg runs off a brain, an android runs off a positronic brain, and a robot is just a sophisticated computer without a 'brain' of either kind. Outside of seeing the internal parts or any potential labels, you wouldn't actually know what type of synthetic you were looking at.
Snoopy11 Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Are we talking about hud icons or the chasis we pick when picking a module?

The only difference is in the brain, it's internal and not something that would be immediately obvious just from looking at the chassis unless they were being arbitrarily divied up. Making the distinction between these three isn't really all that important, if it makes up enough part of the character to matter then it's going to be obvious from their speech. If you really need to know, just ask them. "Hey what the fuck are you?"

Indeed. I do think, however, that there should be more lore regarding how the three act. As far as I can tell, there only exists vague head cannon about robots sounding more robotish.
