Filthyfrankster
So far, With the 'random warehouse', it has been spawning borderline contraband shit like weapons ranging from stunbatons, swords, multiCLUSTER FLASHBANG GRENADES and other unpleasant things that make security have to worry. What's worse is security can't even bother with it until it's too late or been passed around by the QM's or cargotechs metafriends. That or cargo proceeds to be completely ignorant and deny security the contraband goods. Link to comment
canon35
I support a removal of these items or just gimping their spawn. Considering that clean up crews are canon and such, it's not a stretch to assume that they'd confiscate any left over contraband. At the same time, cargo is able to easily regain these items or construct similar ones. Link to comment
Kaed
Security honestly shouldn't be running to cargo at the beginning of the shift to go inspect cargo for contraband. If they are passing it around and using it, that's pretty justifiable cause, but I think it's slightly entertaining the things that show up there. At the very least, it gives security something to do during non-antag rounds. And during antag rounds, an evil cargo member (or HoP) can run in and raid the goodies. Link to comment
Chada1
Not everything has been screened, It's a Warehouse, the place things that need to be assigned go. I imagine most of it was hastily thrown into a crate and then packed into the Warehouse without much of a second look. That includes Security and Armory items, Cargo is meant to ship these items to a relevant Department, that includes Security. The people who abuse this, should get arrested, for breaking regulations. I would say as far as getting demoted from Cargo Technician would be good for stealing from the Warehouse, hell in almost all cases that are relevant to this, that could be classified as Theft + Contraband, which is a possible Demotion + Brig time. In the worst cases of abuse, Ahelp for self-antagging. Otherwise, arresting people with Contraband is something expected for Security to do, and what they should be doing to counter any issues arising from this. It's like another person who said the extremely rare chance for guns to spawn in Maintenance shouldn't be a thing, as if it's far-fetched in the least that someone could have lost their gun in Maint. When people actually abuse it, that's when it should be considered a problem, and that's when you should be looking for a solution. ATM, I think it's fine, and I have seen next to noone actually using the items for something awful, mostly just silly Cargo Technicians fiddling around with things they shouldn't and nearly killing themselves. Nothing should be removed from another department simply for ones peace of mind. Link to comment
MoondancerPony
Keep the Station Directives in mind, here. It's allowed to be in the warehouse and I believe cargo as a whole. Link to comment
Nanako
This has been brought up several times and rejected. The various tech items that appear there are intended. Cargo stock serves several purposes including providing a loot depository for antags to raid, a toolset for cargo techs to mcgyver their way out of situations, and - critically here - a few random items which can have a significant effect on the round. A couple extra signs or medkits is largely just window dressing, most people outside cargo wont care. An energy shield is something to care about, something to fight over. something to abuse and get arrested for, and something worth stealing. it works as a conflict driver Link to comment
