Ron
Hello. I am putting an idea out that people can set their characters to have allergic reactions to a certain medicine when it is eaten or injected. This is 100% optional and if you don't like it, then don't set your character to have one. This would give medical more reason to check records before injecting chemicals into people. So what happens if you get injected with a chemical you are allergic to? You could get some rashes, hives, maybe toxins, etc. Minor things like that that can be solved with ointment or some other form of minor medication. I'd also say there should be a hard limit on the amount of allergies you can have as it wouldn't be really realistic if you are allergic to EVERY medication. Also maybe this could be expanded to food like peanuts and eggs... But I'd say start with medicine first. Link to comment
LordBalkara
I like the idea of this. Make it so you can set a reagent as an allergy, and that coming in contact with it causes one of the viral symptoms until you are given an immunosuppresant of some kind. Link to comment
alexpkeaton
I definitely like this, though I think we should permit something more than just minor reactions. Perahps you could select "severity" of the reaction, from "nuisance" to "moderate" to "severe" - where each drows from an RNG list of symptoms. "Severe" could have a 5% chance of death, perhaps. Perhaps, like a loadout, these allergies could have points attached to them, and you can distribute up to five points: with nuisance allergies being one point, moderate allergies, two points, and severe allergies, three points. So someone could have up to five "nuisance" allergies. They could only have one severe allergy, if they selected one at all. An allergy should also either negate the effectiveness of the medicine entirely or significantly reduce it, in addition to the allergic reaction. Link to comment
Pratepresidenten
Im pretty sure there was some hurr durr about this at some point, but.. Im very much for this. Gives medical incentive to bother with records other than checking DNC. And gives you a chance to laugh if they just lol around and inject you with something you're deathly allergic to and you die horribly. Link to comment
climax708
Great idea. Consider adding some alternative drugs to achieve the same effect, but are more expensive to produce / have side effects. Would also give chemists more stuff to do (their job is mostly done 15 mins in to the round). Link to comment
Asheram
+1 As someone who tends to work in medical, I'm all for this. Of course, this will bring up the entire "Folk in medical RP too much" complaining when we have to ask them about allergies, but hey, at least we've got an in-game reason for it. Link to comment
