I think there are sagnificant expanses involved in space travel still. Even if the gate fee is small per individual passanger. You aren't going downtown, you are moving your fat ass hundreds of light years not to mention the sublight travel orbital movement.

I continue to be amazed that we have instantaneous teleportation between planets, and that nobody has removed gateways. They are a cancer in the lore.

Literally why do we have any ships or even this research station if we have gates.

Just put a gate on the research outpost's door and another gate in a nice Biesel office. And why are there space ships? All you need are gateways on planets.

Gates are only useful from point A to point B. In terms of mining (one of the Exodus's main goals), a gate would be foolish, since after the mining is done, the gate was just a waste of resources and energy. As to why the Exodus has one, but the ERT can't use it... I'm sure we can make some idea up for it.

Seriously, tho. ERT Gateways would be pretty sick.
