How long have you been playing on Aurora: Coming up to a month-ish? I was a fairly involved member of Apollo since about January 2014. I took a break during the summer only to come back to find out that the server was, for all intents and purposes, gone. Then I saw that Aurora existed.

Species you are applying to play: Skrell.

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Aaah, can't choose! It's between light pink, blue, or lilac.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: They're my favourite, and, for some crazy reason, are scarce on Aurora. I would love to make a memorable and well-played Skrell character, perhaps one who can set an example in several ways to other players who want to play Skrell but don't know where to start. Also, playing an alien race would improve my roleplaying ability - something I am always keen to do.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They have the opposite effect of the 'fight-or-flight' response; they secrete a mucus that removes the irrational effects of stress and allows them to think more clearly. This completely changes the way you would normally roleplay in an intense situation. Also, you can't eat any old thing if you're hungry, you have to seek out food that fits their dietary requirements.

Why does this species in particular hold your interest? I adore the fact that they're amphibious (for some people, 'amphibious' connotes 'frog-like' but to me it makes me think 'not at a disadvantage on land or water, yay!'), have a complex tonal language (non-Skrell can't even hear some of the sounds they make! You could, in fact, say that it's impossible for them to learn the language, making it an inherent advantage and cool thing), are ahead in technology of everyone and so culturally have a reason to look down upon others in this regard.

Character Name: Lola Ih-Na

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Loreili Ih-Na was born on Laush V, in the magnificent underwater city of Eriuyish. Her parents were the oligarch Necheril Se-Na and concert fliyangh (I just made up a Skrellian musical instrument, 0 fucks given, non-Skrell often erroneously call them fliyanists) Yue On-Na. Necheril was keen for his daughter to work on his money-making brainchild – the famed hyper-regenerative implants that cost 40 000 Union of Sol credits apiece. He sent her to the most prestigious schools and universities possible and she did indeed work for her father for a time. She participated in the research, made improvements to the side effects... but eventually got extremely bored. It had filled her personal 'knowledge quota' for this one thing. And the corporation, the business side of things, didn't interest her in the slightest. On a wilful whim, she left. Enraged and dishonoured, Necheril disowned her.

She was followed around like a scandalous celebrity for a time, particularly during her notable stint as the face of WetSkrell.nt; it was there that she gained and kept the alias Lola. Highly employable and multi-talented, she never once had financial difficulties despite engaging in busking with the fliyan or more hum-drum jobs such as mapping the watery wilderness around Eriuyish. Lola was a nomad of the modern age, cursed with a distinct intellectual apathy and flightiness that was 'stereotypical' to non-Skrell but perceptible to her own race as well.

What do you like about this character? Welp. I really like her participation in wetskrell.nt – anyone on the station that has looked at that stuff can instantly recognise her. I like how she has the capacity to fulfil any role on the station, something that is innately Skrellian but also a part of Lola's character.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? I am, at least, a very experienced roleplayer. Been doing forum RP for well over a decade (yes, I started on the Neopets boards, laugh all you like) and fell in love with the realtime RP of SS13 since I discovered it last year.

I've observed Crescentise ICly, and I like their characters. OOCly, they seem like a friendly persona that I would gladly trust with a whitelist like the Skrell.
