Daft Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 So as the title implies, the mining drill head will currently explode if you click it once without it being anchored. This includes misclicks as you're loading and unloading it from the mining train or trying to drag it. I feel like it should have a random number between 2-5 clicks before it explodes at least. I don't know how many times I've tried to drag it and wound up blowing a hole in the wall near me and getting loaded with shrapnel.
DatBerry Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 it's the only other hazard miners have to deal with along with holes, just take the steps to not blow it up, it's delicate heavy machinery and you should treat it as such OOCly too (right click > pull etc) maybe add a random timer for it to explode, but i think it's fine as is.
Daft Posted August 4, 2017 Author Posted August 4, 2017 That's just artificial difficulty though. This arbitrary mechanism that punishes you for an OOC mechanical error. Moving heavy equipment doesn't mean I reach over and turn this giant mining turbine on, that makes no logical sense.
nodnodnod Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Or just make it take a few seconds of channeling to turn on? I think that'd be decent. You begin to initiate the startup procedures.
sonicgotnuked Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Just don't miss click it, simple as that. Shit happens, you can miss click and accidentally blow someones head off. Welcome to space station 13.
LordFowl Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Voting for dismissal. The mining drill failures were added as a counterbalance to the effectiveness of the drill, and to add a little more immersion to fucking up where previously there were just flavor messages.
Alberyk Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 As one of the few hazards, that are not even always present, I would like to keep it. Voting for dismissal.
