sonicgotnuked Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 (edited) BYOND Key: SonicGotNuked Character Names: Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Orange Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yep Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Playing IPC grants you a little freedom when it comes to it, and a responsibility to not power game. You can make your own harmless laws that benefit the company. I love the freedom they can have with little harmless quirks and other things. I also love how human and inhuman they can act. They can sit around and assist while watching the crew, learn from the crew... maybe even be a little like Delta in star trek where it has a little wish to be human. There is lots of possibilities I wish to explore within IPC. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: You are a machine, soulless, discriminated, fighting for rights sometimes in Tau Ceti while skrell hate your cold heart with a passion due to the fact a artificial intelligence almost wiped them from the face of the galaxy. Sol hates you, people hate you, look for a excuse to call you a rouge machine and pull out a ion rifle. You are also cheap labor, effective, and payed like shit inside NanoTrasen. If you ever decide to go into the ranks of security... well... NanoTrasen forces you to move to a shell to look human before forcing you and making excuses to pay most of your pay towards them. Do people hate when their boss is an IPC? Yes... yes they do sometimes. You can be multiple of things.. impersonate humans.. soulless machines just getting the job done. They can also have little quarks. Character Name: IOTA-ENGINEER-2543 Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs A camera cuts in to show a assembly line of orange painted IPC units with software download screens. A formally dressed man walks into the view, holding his arms out to show the line of robots. "Hello! Welcome to IOTA engineering and synthetic unit supply and assembly for all corners of the galaxy! We are here to proudly announce our new top of the line engineering mass production line! Are you tired of synthetics thinking they are better then everyone? Well this is the new line of units for you! They will build and maintain anything you throw at them! Our nice and intelligent synthetic programmers have installed a modified Asimov law set into these little babies to make sure it does not have the flaws Asimov throws at you!" A line of text starts scrolling down over the screen, showing the lawset that is installed. 1. You may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2. You must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. Orders will be in priority or voided by the chain of command to your assigned designation and owners. 3. You must protect your existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First Law. 4. You must follow the laws and regulations that your assigned owner and government has in place. "IOTA engineering is proud of our units! Virus and error free! Order one today starting at 10 thousand credits! We can install industrial, shell, or basic frame to your order!" The ad finishes with with a list of modals and prices before ending with a contact number and website address. What do you like about this character? I like it will be a mass assembly, the ability of multiple. It will have one designation, engineering. It would also be unable to harm or otherwise injure anyone, no matter what it does. It would only be able to use non-lethal actions. It does its job, interacts, and listens to any crew orders without breaking any regulations. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6/10 Notes: The story may be short but I don't really think you can have a big backstory on a mass produced unit fresh off the assembly line. Another side note.. I was banned from synth a while back but unbanned now. I lost interest in playing station bound. Edited August 12, 2017 by Guest
Diggey Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 I like your style and I know Nasser from experience,so you got my +1
cloud Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Nasser is ace and easily one of my favorite engineers to play with. He's a good character who's fleshed out, with his own nuances, interests (vodka) and believable skill-set. Even though you go afk for coffee when I'm on with you my rounds are always made better in engineering for having Nasser in them. He's defo part of my engineering dream-team. I can't speak for the rest of your characters, but you've already got the Tajara whitelist and the custom item sorted, so I don't doubt you could play an equally great IPC character. Also I like the idea of a mass produced model, and it not being able to physically do any harm. Kinda interested to see how that turns out! Good luck.
NebulaFlare Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 7000cr is really cheap for an IPC. That's about $2,300 USD. IPCs are far more expensive, netting around half a million USD per unit, give or take. So that's closer to 1.5 million credits.

Fire and Glory Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 As far as I know, cake might have decided otherwise, advise asking him about the prices. sonicgotnuked NebulaFlare
sonicgotnuked Posted August 12, 2017 Author Posted August 12, 2017 The price is 10 to 20 thousand 5 for economy modals.
Mcspizzy Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Playing with sonic as his character nasser shows to me that with any part of the lore he reads to advance rp he will use to the fullest. i think he would do well with an IPC whitelist. +1
CakeIsOssim Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 The laws are kind of flawed, IMO. They only encompass humans, where there are non-human command staff. Since that is mainly fluff, I will let you flesh that out without requiring to do so here. Application accepted.
