Kaed Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I feel like the intent behind pAIs was not to be small, almost untrackable shitlord who spends the whole round hiding in maintenance and irritating everyone over the common channel. They're more supposed to be little personal assistants that stick near a master? Now that they apparently get to share access, the right pAI can be absolutely obnoxious with a very low chance of ever being caught. Could we implement some way of dealing with 'rogue' pAIs. Whether it be just a tracking beacon inside them, or a remote delete function for them, or even something that disables pAI access to the common channel.

Munks Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 If a pAI gets maint access and decides to be shitty they can spend the rest of the round hiding around in maintenance and you will have to either put up with them shitting up comms for the rest of the round or dedicate all your time to chasing them down, actually finding them, and then still missing them because of their tiny sprite so they get away. We should just be able to remotely disable them ourselves just like we can remotely disable maint drones without having to rely on the admins to 'handle' it for us.
Kaed Posted September 30, 2017 Author Posted September 30, 2017 If a pAI is being a shitlord ahelp it. That's not helpful. It's entirely possible for a pAI to be under orders from their master to be a shitlord. Or not have a master at all. Ahelping them for being annoying doesn't fix the issue of them being very difficult to pin down, when they have a valid reason to be allowed to be annoying.

A pAI is not gonna do much besides walk into places it was given access to.
LordFowl Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Voting for dismissal. pAIs can already be instantly stunned and killed, can't walk through doors. They are not mobile enough (like maint drones) to justify a remote controll kill order.

Fowl they can literally walk through any door maint hatch they have been swiped to have access to, and you can't stun them unless you can reach them and alt click them, which you can't if they are hiding in a deep corner of maintenance. Have you even played a pAI recently? Or was that changed at some point since the last time I was a pAI a month ago? Your dismissal feels disconnected with the issue I stated, and it's a little frustrating.
Scheveningen Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 pAIs are really not supposed to be IC memers, though. They're supposed to be computer programmed personalities that still have the flaw of being inorganic and otherwise unable to express emotion in a meaningful way given how barebones of technology they are. I really understand how annoying it is to deal with a memer pAI, it is an awful experience every time it happens. It would be nice if people went in with the expectation they're supposed to act accordingly as a simple personal assistant intelligence instead of what the execution normally is. Ideally this expectation could be enforced if staff members were willing to decide on a case-by-case basis who's being a memer pAI and who isn't. It's important to argue a strong case as to why the pAI is a memer and why they should be spoken to, though. Help staff help you help the server culture, that kinda thing.
