coolbc2000
BYOND Key:Coolbc2000 Character Names:Benjamin Crowley, Mark Syion, R.O.S.E. Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, I like the posibrain functions that Muncorn suggested before he was booted the fuck off; https://pastebin.com/f20QCumz Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want to shake things up, I want to build a completely bland IPC that fulfills their role on the Station. I think it would be a nice fresh thing to bring to the scene. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPC's are the complete opposite of Humans. IPC's are supposed to be this kind of slow learning...Mechanical...No emotion feeling thing that walks around and do their job to the best of its Ability. And with the heightened backstory of the synthetic rights movement it even adds more Role play ability's with different opinions on the synthetic freedom (Anti-Synth for the win by the day.) which makes for very different perspectives. Character Name: L.O.A.D.E.R Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Loader is a simple Industrial IPC, his function is in his name, Loader. Loader is a seven-foot, 300kg, Industrial IPC made for loading heavy supplies such as ship parts and engines. Originally he was built by Hephaestus Industries; advanced for his time; he spent five years loading IPC parts and whatever came onto the HRS Lemnos. He was later replaced by better functioning equipment. Loader is basic when it comes to commands, basic intuition and coded responses making up the majority of its actions. Shut down in preparation for scrapping, a worker at the salvage plant took oppurtunity and took Loader as well as several other units, restored them to basic work level and sold them off for a hefty profit. Loader so happened to be sold to a small NanoTrasen depot in Phoenixport, before swiftly being shipped off to work on the NSS Aurora as a Cargo Technician. In terms of smarts, he's very basic. He could interact in a conversation but emotions are voided and personal opinions are not formed. He's their to do his work and serve his Company. Although if NT choose, they could upgrade him, so he could take on the QM role perhaps. God bless NT. What do you like about this character? It's a change of pace to my normal characters, something I've always wanted to try but I was always too busy or way to tired to do until today. I hope you guys like the idea as much as I do. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 9/11 I'd like to think it's a solid 7/10 with loads of room for improvement. Notes: Bush did 9/11 Link to comment
Butterrobber202
It's not a terrible story and app, but every time I've encountered Mark Syion he is powergaming or fighting a team of mercs on his lonesome, so. Hard - 1 Link to comment

Hard - 1 Cheers for the reply, I'm still trying to improve myself and accept that kind of criticism quite serious. Thanks for the heads up. Link to comment
sonicgotnuked
Mark Syion gives a few snow-flaky- power game red flags to me but I think cool is improving with defining his character less CEO of his company mary sue style to something more mellow. He shows improvement in my eyes. Powergaming is a strong thing I look for when someone applies to IPC, but I am sure your level of being open to feedback will help that. Now, the application itself: LOADER is an interesting concept, it is acceptable and it didn't give me red flags. I want to shake things up, I want to build a completely bland IPC that fulfills their role on the Station. I think it would be a nice fresh thing to bring to the scene. That works, just don't make a literal metal human with full blown emotions or another HELPER... I am having flashbacks IPC's are supposed to be this kind of slow learning...Mechanical...No emotion feeling thing that walks around and do their job to the best of its Ability. IPCs don't really need to be slow learning and fully mechanical. Just think, "I act out that I have emotions but those emotions just hide my true scrap self" IPCs are decently much fast learners, learning off the crew with every little interaction while asking what a penis is. You have the freedom to tune the level of 'acting human' towards it as long as it does not have full blown emotions. You have a mild +1 from me as long as you don't power game the species to death. Lastly, Bush did 9/11 I agree Link to comment
CakeIsOssim
Industrial IPCs are about as powergame of a race as you can get, so, I need your full understanding that any level of powergaming as an industrial IPC will not be tolerated. While you say you are improving, and I have little reason to doubt you, your history still comes up as an issue. Link to comment
coolbc2000
Knowing this and of course it looks very bad on my side of thing of course. There's a reason why I got accepted as a Head of Staff. All that stuff is in the pass and I'm fully willing to act out this character to the full. I've been working on him for months and I would hate to see it all go away. Link to comment
