Fortport Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Maybe like a desk receptionist and guard, for the entrance and exit. The desks here are always empty and makes me wonder why we bother having them. This might help. Y'know, security checkpoints actually having people in them.
NoahKirchner Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 +1 if this becomes a job for post-death. Like mouse or drone. Otherwise, eh.
ajstorey456 Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Just play security and sit in customs, it's the same experience.
Alberyk Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 There is literally nothing to do there. +1 dismissal
Fortport Posted November 22, 2017 Author Posted November 22, 2017 There is literally nothing to do there. +1 dismissal Maybe you could add a purpose to the empty desk and terminals, by requiring that characters get their IDs and stuff from here? Similar to the auto-drobe on the shuttle.
GreenLightbulb Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Which then creates the issue of if no one is playing the role, how do people get their IDs and stuff?
Fortport Posted November 22, 2017 Author Posted November 22, 2017 Which then creates the issue of if no one is playing the role, how do people get their IDs and stuff? Then just remove the desk and reception area entirely, if it will never serve a purpose? Or make a cyborg do it there, instead of at the shuttle?
LordFowl Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 I don't see how replacing the desks with a blank empty wall improves anything. The alcove is there only to provide a little immersion, make it seem like the station could be occupied. If CCIA or admin want to fuck around with inboard processing, it has the facilities to allow that also. Adding a job for it seems a little wasteful as there is nothing to do and it will probably just lead into randos fucking with people's ability to actually join the round. Removing it just because it's empty seems pointless.
Fortport Posted November 22, 2017 Author Posted November 22, 2017 I guess there's not ever going to be RP at the Odin. Which is whatever? Plenty of that at the station.
LordFowl Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 That is the gist of the current design of the Odin, yes. It is largely just for administrative purposes.
Doc Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 While it would be nice to make the Odin seem like less of a barren wasteland, adding an entire job to it is not the way. Even adding it as a post-death role is not something that would work well either, that I can see. I don't think there particularly is a good way to do this, as much as I would like to see it done. A job or role for anyone to pick could lead to several issues, such as them deciding to get on the arrivals shuttle and leaving, or going SSD without cryoing and potentially in an area no one can take them to cryo unless it was adminhelped. There is also the fact that a large amount of people don't even spawn on the Odin in order to avoid the arrivals shuttle wait. -1.

LordFowl Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Voting for dismissal. The Odin is not meant to be used. Binning.
