[Input Wanted and WIP] Auroraverse Jargon for the Uninformed

There are a number of cases where someone will say something that should make sense to a lot of people only to get a "What does that mean?" So here is a place to make a growing list of names, contractions, and others that are generally accepted by the community.

General:

Internals = Personal air supply. Via mask or some sealed suits, with a form of tank.

Disposals = Context specific. Will either refer to all bins and pipes in the rubbish network, or the end point of the crusher.

Carp = Space carp, the purple fish like creatures that migrate through the void.

Dweller = Cavern Dweller, a worm like creature that resides in the depths of the asteroid we are located on.

Command:


Engineering:

Shield = Referes to the hull or bubble shield and an associated capacitor.

Medical:

CMC = Crew monitoring computer, the console application that checks suit sensors.

IB = Internal bleed. A dangerous medical condition that needs quick reaction.

Dylo =Dylovene aka 'Anti-Toxin'

Research:

Sync = The action of synchronizing with the main severs, sync usually being an upload, can be a statement as in it was done or a request to have it done, synced the download version.

Slimed/Glomped = Attacked by a slime from xenobiology.

Supply:

KA = Kinetic Accelerator, a mining tool.

Scan = place patient in body scanner

Clone = check corpse if it is DNC, if not, preform the cloning procedures

MIF = Mental Interface Failure, happens when ghost does not enter body

DNC = Do Not Clone

Security

'Brig' = the act of processing someone in processing and placing in a cell

'get suited' = getting a void suit for EVA

Engineering

vented = Area is depressurized

Breach = area has a hole that leads to open space

'Eject the core!1!1' = When SM is about to explode, this means to open the core outer shutter and eject the core

SM = Supermatter/Supermatter engine

Research


DA = Destructive Analyzer

Proto = Protolathe

Auto = Autolathe

Printer = Circuit Imprinter

ICP = Integrated Circuit Printer

RPED = Rapid Part Exchange Device aka "Upgrader"

Recycle = Insert useless junk (old components, useless items) into the protolathe to turn them into metal and glass.

Robo = Roboticist

Posi = Posibrain / synthetic brain

Misc = Miscellaneous Research Room, aka "R&D backroom"

T-sci, teleporter = Telescience

Chemsci / Scichem = Materials Lab

Send / RECEIVE!!! = Press the SEND or RECEIVE button on the telescience console

Print a ___ = Use the R&D console to create an item, usually from the protolathe.

K'ois = A very nasty plant from xenobotany. Fear it like the plague, because that's what it is. Stay AWAY

Outbreak = Slimes out of the pens

Security:

ISD - Internal Security Department

Investigations Team - Detective and CSI/Forensic Technician

Mask up - Obtain and/or equip gas masks

Gas 'em - Deploy tear gas

Bang 'em - Deploy flashbang(s)

Regroup - Withdraw from active engagement with hostiles and reorganize and reload

Arm up - Obtain weaponry from the armory

Officer down - Member of Security is critically injured or killed

Hit - To have been injured

Communal - The main room that connects all 5 cells, used for people who are HuT (Holding until Transfer) or are complaint in custody for extra comfort

HuT - Holding until transfer, basically the same as permabrig, the prisoner is held until the crew transfer

Setting up the suits - To add the magboots, helmet, and a full oxygen tank, to the Security EVA suits

Processing a crime scene - To collect every scrap of evidence from every little thing present in a crime scene

Throwing the book at them - To charge someone with every. Single. Violation. Typically done for people who are being shitters or otherwise noncompliant.

Resisting (Arrest) - Both a crime and an action, typically performed by either running from Security or attacking Security as they make an arrest. Also known as a "202"

General:

Plasma = Phoron. (Used primarily by engineers and miners, but still general.)

Phoron = Plasma. (Used primarily by science-y and well educated people.)
