  1. People enjoyed playing them back when it was Fowlss lore, from there I can easily expand to include the different play styles people want.

  3. I haven't applied three times for no reason. I enjoy lore and always have. Sure I haven't been active but that in no way will actually effect my capability to create and write lore. I've also said multiple times that getting active is no problem, no that it would matter straight away since I'll be reverting lore back anyway, so after I implement new stuff that when activity comes in.

Do you play Vaurca extensively? Why? As per the last two, no I do not. Perhaps I will make them more playable however. If you were chosen for Lore Developer, what would your plans be for Vaurca? I'm just going to keep it nice and simple until Vaurca actually get to a playable level again. Once the lore has been reverted and is clear again I will begin to work on expansion of the lore. Here is my plan on Vaurca. Step one, Vaurca right now is a miss match of everyones stuff. Wipe it completely clean back how how Fowl had it. Step two, expand on the background and story, why they left their planet, the different wars that lead to the destruction. Step three, expand more on the first contact with Humans and how every one felt, racism against Vaurca starts here. Explain how its starts because they are big, grotesque and ugly. Not to mention they are basically squatting on Human territory. While Biesal is the largest allowed slum there is a lot of areas where smaller groups have settled, often taken over farmlands. Step four, begin shaking up the Vaurca world a little, since they have created so much turmoil in the Humans the favour should be returned. If yes, why is your rewrite worth it? One the lore is rolled back and redefined I will begin to do a couple of things. People are just inherently racist towards Vaurcae, so I want to expand on why people are like this. I want to give reasoning such as stealing of farm lands, mutilation and kidnapping of Humans (By Outcasts), stealing of housing and food meant for the poorer people of Biesal. Expand on what happened to their home world, why they were forced to leave, what caused the destruction of the planet and the hard fought creation of the hive ships. Also all of the wars involved between different hives. All of this will be in detail so that Vaurca can talk more about the past of their species/hives Since I'm going back a while, I want to redefine VR into something that isn't technology related but actually a sort of biological stasis that they go through, to prepare themselves for the world in front of them. Define different implants and technological adaptations that bound have done to them (New limbs, stronger limbs etc.) I want to deeply define the past and history of Vaurca. Give something for people to write about. I always want to define whats happening right now and give them clear paths to the future. In my last application my rewrites were seen to be too aggressive so in this one I am taking a more passive approach. In the past they have been warlike due to the destruction of the planet but now they have become a mostly peaceful people just wanting to survive. I would like that to be a big idea in the front of players minds, everything Vaurca are doing is to learn about the new world around them so that they may better survive. All of this being done by the control of the unbound, having total control over bound.
  5. I'm not going to lie, this is a long shot from me and I will just straight up admit that. I know I am not the most ideal candidate on play time and my in game history could be considered pretty spotty. I've been playing the game for long now it's a struggle to keep that interest and you end up doing fucked up shit in game. The community is fantastic and this is me trying to claw myself into it so I'm sticking around as much as possible. The one thing I do have is the passion and heart. I've been around so long and I want to relight that inside me.
  6. This is the first time I've applied for moderation position on the server. Previously it's been lore positions that I've been interested in since I enjoy writing. I know I have been inactive but I can easily log 3-4 hours a day for a week I just don't have the motivation to play anymore which is why I want the opportunity to overlook people instead.

Experience I've been staff on other servers before all the way from mod up to head admin so I'm fairly experienced in the role. However it's been a while so I may need to refresh myself on controls etc. I've also been staff on a lot of other games, more notably GMOD where I spend my time as Admin on a customised darkRP servers etc. I've also been founder member and head admin on numerous GMOD servers since I do play it a lot. I've done everything from manage clans on WOT to being a community manager for a game mode for Gmod. How long have you played SS13?: God, how long have I played? Must have been early 2014 at least when I started playing this game probably even earlier I can't remember how long exactly but I've been around a long time. How long have you played on Aurora: On my other account my earliest login was 2015 sometime I believe being told before by Skull, on this account I've been playing since 2016 I believe. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I've played a long time so I know quite a lot but the newer things I may not have such good knowledge on but I am willing to learn so that I am able to better help players. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Yes I've moderated on servers before such as Apollo and numerous other upstarts that didn't quite make it all the way. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I've only been banned once on discord, which I fully accept was my fault. Personality I like to think of myself as quite a fun and playful person. While I do maintain seriousness in the situations that require it I believe people will always follow rules more if you do not act above them and condescend them. I try to be understanding, looking at other peoples point of views. I'm generally here to have a good time so I always want to keep myself up and keep positive energy. Why do you play SS13?: I play SS13 because it has depth like no other game I know. The amount you can do and be is just out standing and unparalleled by any other game out there in level of detail. A lot of love has gone into every version of code, specifically Auroras code with the dedicated development team. I'm also very truthful and will not hesitate to admit if I did something wrong. Why do you play on Aurora?: I've been around to say the least. Aurora is easily the best community I've come across hence my repeated attempts to get involved in it. I've played for so long now game play often isn't all that engaging for me so I'm trying to get involved and help build the community as much as possible and I think I could dedicate a lot of time to the staff here. What do moderators do?: Moderators are tasked with watching how everything on the server plays out and that no one is breaking the rules either by playing a character ingame or just watching the round as a ghost. Moderators are generally responsible for making sure everyone is following the rules and dealing with incidents and if needed handing it up the chain. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: For me it obviously means dedicating a lot of time towards the server which I am willing to do. I do not find it hard to clock hours I just need the motivation to do so which I think I can find with being a part of the staff team. You have to maintain a presence on the server so that the players are comfortable when contacting you in game or out for any information. I am more then willing to dedicate my time to help better the server however I can. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Aurora is such an amazing community that I do want to be apart of. I want to be apart of this team because it gives me good reason and motivation to deeply involve myself in the community. I want to have that chance to look over people in what they do and how they play. All of the players and staff come well together to form this very close and enjoyable community. There is a lot of respect between players themselves and also players to the staff and I think this would make for a very enjoyable environment to moderate in. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I try to maintain a friendly vibe when talking to people which I think would be my most powerful quality as a moderator. People would hopefully see me as a friend instead of being just another member of the staff team which would hopefully lead them to being easier to handle and make sure they follow the rules correctly. I'll always maintain a strong friendliness to people even if they get aggravated. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Insults and other stuff such as that does not generally get to me, I've never really cared what people say in insults. Anger and stress are obviously hard to combat sometimes but if I do reach anger I would not take it out on players or staff. I would simply walk away from the situation, if I am getting aggravated I will hand the report onto another staff member while I take the time to calm down. However I do rarely ever get angry. Anything Else You Want to Add: (Do not put words here) I understand a lot of you may question my activity. However I've played the game for so long every situation I have seen, every play I have seen. Aurora is the best community I've come across in my years and I really want to be apart of it and I want to dedicate myself to the community because it is one of a kind.
  8. It's all down to personal opinion and everyone back storys! If someone has had family killed perhaps then they may be a lot more racist towards them, I'm open to incorporate every Vaurcas ideas and play styles.
  9. I understand your concerns! The whole idea of this is to create pity for the Vaurca on station. Yes some will hate them because of what happens and if it comes to the entire station hating them I can adjust lore accordingly. Overall I want people to feel sorry for them, like they are going through a lot I want people to feel sympathy, especially IPCs and Tajara who have had similar struggles.
  10. I'll start of with activity, I know I haven't been active on the server but when given nothing to do it becomes boring and stale. I've played thousands of hours of SS13 and it normally becomes the same old same old. While I also do not have a whitelist for Vaurca, Killhurtz did not have a Diona whitelist when he was appointed, so I do not see the problem. These are just ideas I'm throwing out there, the players of Vaurca have a choice of what they want to see and if needed I will leave some open ended things that will allow players to question and make up interesting characters and ideas from this. Also, the theme of 'War' I want to purposely be the forefront of everyone's mind. The Vaurca are extremely unknown and no one truly knows what their home planets are like or how many they actually number. They left their home planet because of the cataclysmic event that left it uninhabitable and its entirely feasible that they want to claim lands through war to live on, considering the way they've been treated by all species alike. I am aware you may be concerned about activity, I can't see how Vaurca players are playing, but knowing how they currently play is pointless when I plan to remove almost all of Chevs lore completely changing the play style anyway. Then I can become active and observe how players play.
  11. My plan to create max tension between the races and Vaurca, to the point that the Vaurca call for a 'Warfleet' that begins to terrorise the outer rim.

If you were chosen for Lore Developer, what would your plans be for Vaurca? As I said before, the Vaurca are new and considered very low and basic forms of life. I want to maintain that outlook to any exterior races but a lot more is going on underneath. Eventually when the disease ramps up the Vaurca are forced to flee in massive numbers which the Humans mistake for an attack, slaughtering many innocent bound and unbound workers etc. Protests begin to happen not only by Humans but other races (if appointed I'd have to talk to other loredevs) Would you embark on major or minor rewrites of Vaurca lore? If yes, why is your rewrite worth it? As stated above there is some major rewrites I'd like to do, it doesn't so much change a bunch but it does add on to existing lore. I'd also go through and find out what people want to remain from Chevs lore. If needed I'll trim it down or fix it to the players liking from here. Overall I want the tone of Vaurac to be depression and struggle but because majority are mindless bound they don't actually know their own blight which causes other races to fight for them. I want more interesting interaction from the races to come in from this part. I'll expand heavily on soldier types, I'll do some short stories and such about the life of a soldier, why they are formed in certain ways etc. Perhaps getting a defined military in (of sorts) if people want it. Overall I want more species interaction even for the mindless bound. I'll fix/add/remove any of Chevs stuff that people don't want. I also want to expand heavily on the existing lore to create more backstory to base interesting characters off. Overall I want the mood of Vaurca to be a struggling people that may change depending on how the players want it to go. I want to emphasise that the Vaurca players will have a heavy say in how the story advances. I hope I get chosen, I do want the best for this race, I want to make it interesting and a more played and playable race.

Now, I've agreed to take a look at the genetics system to see how much I can do to get a complete system working and going, however I don't really know what you guys want and what would be a best fit for the server. So you're welcome to suggest what I should do to genetics and what I should add to make it more fun to play but also a lot more risky.

  15. I mean the point here is that the majority of ACTIVE Vaurca players have got together to voice these concerns. There is normally only about one bug onboard at any time and I guarantee its' one of these guys and not listening to the criticism they are given will leave the species player less.

  18. I think this could work as long as certain races fell down in other areas such as Unathi not being able to use weapons and missing more shots etc.
  19. He is far to honourable of himself to simply lie over and accept old age! He is almost forcing himself to do so to prove that he still can. While the strength of a Human is no match for a Unathi it still gives him some self redemption and reminds him of his younger years. UPDATE Job changed!

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Aye aye. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have interest in every race that is playable on Aurora. They are very different to play then Humans and I think that can create some amazing opportunity and role play. The ability to create unique characters from the lore also attracts me to this race and I personally believe that Unathi is the more fleshed out lore. I enjoy the whole idea of the clan system and the honour that Unathi feel for their respective clans. I also am very attracted by the background of war that has been written for them, things like this attract me and in my opinion make races fun to play, since none are morally perfect and it is those moral imperfections which can create some really amazing situations. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: For one they have a strong sense of honour for others and their respective hives, making them a lot more fun to play in my eyes. Also the very individual biology forcing them to wear breachers. As said earlier I also very much like the idea of the clan background, and how ravaged by war a lot of Unathi are, so you have to adjust your role play accordingly to create a character that may or may not have experienced it. War can create so many different individual personality and I think this is such a good background to expand on. I want to create a character interesting to interact with. Character Name: Loken Ik'Ash Mareesh Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Loken is a ageing Unathi, reaching early into his seventy's at 73. Age has clearly affected him, his once sandy scales are beginning to fade and show hints of grey around their edges. You can see that he was once a strong and powerful Unathi, however he has lost a lot of muscle mass and resides at about 250 pounds. Standing at 7"6 this might seem a lot but by the looks of it he could have easily been almost 300 pounds. His body is covered with deep and powerful scars, each on telling the story of a battle that happened almost eons ago. Every inch of this Unathi looks as though it has spend a thousand years in a battle. You look into his blue eyes, unusual for a Unathi but you can instantly tell they are bionic, this does not mean they have lost even an ounce of soul however. You almost feel like you can read his entire life like a book from those eyes. He hunches over as his back slowly begins to give in, relying on a long wooden cane to keep his balance. He will never complain about his ailments however, he is too proud for that. Loken is a very respected member of his clan, being accepted as the clan leader when he was only 25, he lead his clan for many years with honour and pride before moving on to let his son rule and becoming an elder. His father was the previous clan leader but while on a skirmish against a neighbouring he was shot down by mounted units, slowly passing away a few days later from his wounds. This led him to becoming a leader so early and commanding them to strike their enemies down with unmatched fury. The clan carved a small but respectable territory out for themselves under his leadership. However when the contract wars came he left to fight. Him, and the strongest members of the clan left behind to fight, for the honour and the name of the Izweski Hegemony. He believed and still does believe in the traditional values that all Unathi should follow. He will talk often of the battles and fights that took place here, talking about them with pride and honour as he played his part in the war. When the bombs dropped he retreated back to his clan, his son no longer an infant and turning 18 soon. The scars of war left him broken and brittle both physically and mentally. He saw himself no longer able to lead the clan so his son took over. However he was honoured and immortalised as an elder of the clan and as it's greatest leader ever. Many years passed and he spent his remaining time doing what mercenary work he could do, he also wrote a lot of poetry and the memoirs of his life. He spent his last years at the clan looking up the stars, hearing of what NT was, he wondered often what happened in the endless dark of space. His son, now clan leader decided to send him away to follow his new dream of exploring the stars, everyone knows his time left in this world is limited and that he will soon pass over into the spirit world a honourable and powerful Unathi. His son felt a duty to let him at least do this one thing away from the clan, for all he has done for the clan he should have something in return . He had heard of NT and decided to sign up for a supply, hoping maybe that will get him to connect with all the characters the company has to offer. When he feels he is ready to die, he will return to the clan to be buried. What do you like about this character? I love the fact this character isn't copy past Guwan, or a young gun wanting to pursue honour. He has seen wars, he has seen many die and many be born. Now he wants to spend his last days in peace exploring the worlds spreading his story to all that want to hear, and he has many to tell. This is a character that I haven't seen done before for Unathi, the old bull who is ready to pass on. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I think everyone has room to improve and I certainly do but I do rate myself fairly good and I try to take in other peoples experience while I play, the experience of making characters, especially this one (The story teller type) it is important that you make others role play fun.   22. Honestly, I think it is a link via pheromones but can be boosted by latest tech. The hive mind is a huge bonus to the Vaurca, being able to communicate this way allows them to do so much without it being obvious. However it does have its limitation, because they do link via pheromones range for example in a city could be limited but not as much on a station, which is why Vaurca on the station can only really talk to each other. Yes it can be boosted by different types of technology so it doesn't mean Vaurca on the station cant talk to their respective hive members but the boosters to do so can become very expensive so it is more a thing for a queen to have these boosters but the Vaurca do not, and therefore can only receive orders. Another way normal bound and unbound Vaurca get past this is by using conventional means of communication. This is my interpretation at the moment at least, and I could tweak the lore if the players feel that is what is needed, but this pheromone based linking for a hive mind means group of Vaurca are very quick thinking and deadly.
  23. Engineers have access to a suit cycler, so theirs no reason their hard suits should ever be uncomfortable. They may also be in space for many hours doing repairs, so why would they make the hard suit uncomfortable?
  24. I know they already have unwavering loyalty, they will and often have died for the hive. However I want players to actually show this more, and push it to the front of their mind when doing things. Often I see players go an entire round without talking about the hive or doing anything at all. So it's something I want to make bigger RP wise. The disease is currently spreading through the slums on Biesal where they are currently housed. They do not tolerate the disease at all, the instant someone comes down with it they are 'Forsaken' and exiled from the hive. However since at the end of the story I wrote they have managed to infect a lesser queen, so now they have organisation and communcation in their own form now making it very hard for the warrior castes to combat what is actually happening. This also can relate to a new idea similar to Guwan perhaps, where Vaurca can become 'Forsaken' and kicked out of of hive, however players must show they did something majorly wrong without it just being the default 'I killed someone'. I hadn't thought about the species being dark beforehand but I can see you point, if it is a problem that opens up opportunity to introduce a new hive ship in another location that is major in lore. Another large settlement could provide the opportunity to create the idealist view of Vaurca life, having it contrast to whats happening on Biesal could be a good addition to the lore! Overall I've been asking players what they want, reading what they want and so far it seems they want lore fleshed out which is what I plan to do. I want to add sustenance to the lore to give players the ability to make their fantastic backgrounds. Stage two will be making Vaurca more exciting to play but that will be a lengthy process of watching the players and watching what makes races attractive. Hope this helps you make a decision!
